Unfortunately, this channel has been demonetized by UA-cam for the third time and therefore the Game Movie Vault has been closed. It was fun for over 10 years but I can no longer afford to spend the time to make these videos without being reimbursed by UA-cam. I have started a second channel that focuses on Diablo 4 and I am thinking of starting another separate Game Lore channel very soon.

13:43 - For anyone unfamiliar with the previous games, this cutscene is where the plot of Hitman: Contracts began. After leaving the Opera, a detective named Albert Fournier - friend of Delahunt and Alvade - stalks 47 through the streets of Paris and guns him down. 47 barely escapes with his life to a hotel room the ICA rented as a hideaway. After a long series of hallucinations and emergency medical treatment, 47 evades a GIGN swat team closing in on his location and manages to assassinate Fournier before stealing a cop car and escaping France with Diana. That is the story of why Diana asks "How's that wound healing?" the next time they meet and why she's so cordial in the next mission briefing: "It's good to have you back, 47. I'm glad to hear you're fully recovered."
The game doesn't explain this well, so I figured I'd post a note about it here.
The only thing I hate is how this guy is a uniformed officer while in Contracts we see he's a plain's clothes detective. I heard Contracts and Blood Money were both being made at the same time by two different teams so I can see why it's not consistent. But I guess including a guy in a jacket in this close up would have been even more confusing if you didn't play contracts.
Ohh so blood money is a prequel to contracts? Also what about the old hitman 2, does it take place after codename 47 or after contracts?
@@shamusbob7969 It wasn’t Fournier that shot 47, it was one of the Syndicate clones that shot him. Or a corrupt cop on Fourneir’s payroll.
@@oscarisopthebest3424 Codename 47 takes place first. Hitman 2 is after Codename 47. Blood Money picks up after Hitman 2, but Contracts takes place in the middle of Blood Money (between the opera and rehab missions) and Contracts is 47 remembering all the missions from Codename 47 in his head

The hitman series has to be one of the greatest games in history it's complex gameplay makes the possibilities of killing your target endless just like it would be in real life
47 is the absoloute badass character. mother fucker killed his only friend, that poor forsaken bird

@@mayapal69 It's off screen; the bird is going nuts because there's a stranger in or around the premises, so he reaches into the cage and breaks its neck, its job done.
It's reminiscent of old mining tunnels; they used canaries in new caverns etc., where if there was poison gas, the canary would die, so they knew to evacuate the tunnels.
40:58 this is the only time Agent 47 swears in the whole franchise, savor it

Killing the delivery guy at 27:05, and also killing the reporter who likely has more speaking lines than 47 himself, really shows how 47 doesn't need to only kill "bad people." I love the recent games but the old ones showed the harsh reality of his business. Some have even felt The Swing King was only negligent and really probably only deserved prison. I do like those more in-betweeny victims. It makes us actually feel for Agent Smith during his scene when 47 has a gun to his head. Also 47 glaring down at the passing car at 35:11, with an expression indicating he's memorizing the license plate, and had they slowed down even a little bit, a visit from him was going to be a reality.
Narrative is important and after finishing this masterpiece a couple of days ago I can say this game nailed it. Even though I was getting juiced every level, I still enjoyed the heck out it.
I'm 80% sure he had an arrangement where the envelope was meant to be delivered under the door. By knocking instead, 47 knew he was a fraud and possibly there to kill him.

I love the irony that even though that grieving father sent a hitman after the Swing King, he's already suffering infinitely in living after the incident more than any death would bring him
To be fair, he never actually know that Clarence life is going downhill, all he know is he is an irresponsible bussiness owner who evade justice from the court.
If you want to justify it further, his death can be treated as a liberation from worldly woe, and 47 killing his niece making sure she won't mess around with local gansters.
To this day this game is still awesome and it's my favorite out of all the Hitman games.

Some of the cut scenes are chronologically spaced across the different games. Paris in contracts is connected to paris in bloodmoney im pretty sure
That cop shoots him, he hides in the hotel in contracts and then they storm the building

Contracts is the only one I haven’t played. I’ve never understood that cutscene in Blood Money where the cop pulls the slide back on his gun and it leads to nothing.

I just saw that scene and was looking to see if anybody else had commented on this. I am confused. I almost feel like that guy was an assassin or something. Even though he acts nothing like one. It just seems stupid to kill a random civilian just delivering mail.

@Merciless Freak There's also the fact that at that point in the story, 47 was aware he was being hunted so the mailman could have been acting as an informant, scoping out the room, telling the FBI what they'll be dealing with if they decide to strike
Maybe because the mail was code Red which means killing the guy
Watching this I realise how great Diana's voice was before they changed it in absolution, IO obviously never heard of the phrase "if it isn't broke don't fix it"
They also wanted to change David Bateson (amazing voice BTW), thank God for the fan base.

Actually Hitman: Contracts is set after Courtains down mission, that's why there is cop loading his gun and Diana mentioning 47's wound in the next cutscene :)
I always felt bad for killing swing king in the first mission because he was so pathetic lol
I sometimes think he doesn't like killing certain victims but its part of the job in certain circumstances

Blood Money is my favorite when it comes to storytelling. 47 is neutral he's not a hypocritical vigilante who kills Bad guys only. he's just doing his job

I’ve always loved the game mechanic in Hitman Blood Money where you head butt them and punch them twice. It just looks so hilarious 😂. It looks the best when you’re dressed as the clown and you do it.
I'm glad 47 is not as greedy in absolution and beyond.

The witness is the dog, you can “calm” the situation down by killing it.
According to 3rd party in-game trackers you can download like Statman, the dog witness will actually void you of SA.
Orrrr you can put it to sleep with a sedative in a sausage.
I love how cold 47 is in Blood Money. The bored line delivery when he tells the swing king to hurry up and look at the picture so he can get his job over with. Then him immediately asking about his payment after Diana says she might be killed, and of course him killing his canary to keep quiet. So savage. That's what made him the best at what he does. Ever since they've kept trying to make Agent 47 some kind of sympathetic human with emotions and it's just lame.

My favorite part about Hitman Blood Money is where you can literally take anyone and use them as a human shield. Some guards will then say
"I'll kill you both if I got to."
After 47 fires a shot at a guard while still holding a hostage as a shield, a guard would literally kill the hostage trying to shoot at 47. 😂
And now, after watching an entire playthrough of this game, I finally seek out a video that tells me the plot!

Yet, 47 isn’t the only thing that’s different, the whole mood of the game, it feels so empty, maybe it’s the stilted cutscenes idk, but the whole story they put forward just doesn’t jive, especially since 47 like killed dianas parents? Before he was even old enough to be a contract killer? Ughh so ftustrating
Joseph Pakula perhaps the story is better in some ways, but it breaks a lot of continuity established in the previous games.
Having everything connect to the pasts of the characters feels cheap especially when the story did not need to do this. Other Hitman games had done this too but they were more superficial, referencing the research of Ort Meyer
Hitman 2 commits the sin of trying to connect the upbringings of 47, Diana, and the mystery man, when it didn’t need to and honestly just makes the story feel lazy, i expected 47 and mystery man to be connected but not Diana, it just takes all the punch out of what could of been a much more simpler and engaging story, like the previous games.

I've been replaying *the original quadrilogy* and honestly, the story, the tone, the gameplay quirks, the visuals and Jesper Kyd's music are such a wonderfully unique mix. I especially like the earlier settings hopping between Europe and Asia. Lends a distinct atmosphere, seeing places we normally wouldn't otherwise see in games. _Hitman_ being set chiefly in America just doesn't feel right to me.
I've some big nostalgia for these games (more so the first three), so I despise when later entries - in any game series - with different people at the helm try to tie more threads to the original plot. I haven't played the newer games (have Absolution), but I've read into the jist of them. And that jist is quite stupid. Particularly to do with *Ort-Meyer.*
The simplicity of Ort-Meyer getting ironic revenge on his treacherous benefactors in _Codename 47_ was great. He didn't need to be dealing with ancient secret societies, he's a just genius gene jockey with a God complex and well-funded friends. Adding in what is essentially _the Illuminati_ makes it feel shallower and weaker, imo.

@@lucifervex Oh I've seen the recent ones' gameplay. It's probably the best it's ever been. _Hitman_ as a series does function best when the story acts as connective tissue for missions that slips into the background.
However, when I _pay attention_ to it, I find myself enjoying it. Particularly in the original game where it sneaks up on you a bit and you realise that the whole thing is connected, as well as the look and feel. It just adds a lot, is what I'm saying.
