It's funny, I saw clips of this crossing in other media and assumed that it was absolutely ginormous, like unrealistically big. But looking at this and some other videos it seems to just be an unusually big crosswalk.
Reminds me of when my parents went with their friends to see the Eiffel Tower and my mother told me "When the lights are off and you're standing close to it, it's just a big piece of scaffolding"
