    Thanks for making this video! I like how you used the blue painters tape to line up the molding!

      You’re welcome. I’ve applied these on two different Subaru Foresters with no problems. My garage is heated so in the winter I put out of a warm garage into very cold with no issues.
      To date: No door dings either!😁.
      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.👍👍

    I just did my 2024 Forester Touring. But FYI - for the 2024 Foresters the SOA templates are aligned and taped to the TOP of the door frame BELOW the concave door handle outlines instead of aligning and taping the template off the bottom per BoilerDan's excellent video shows. The templates DO require attention to the instruction details so review them before you dive in. BTW, I also installed the mud guards. Both of these upgrades were EZ-PZ. I ordered the door edge guards too and get them in a few days.

      Thanks for the update! I agree, they are an easy install. Good to know about the change in setup. 👍👍

      FYI: I bought the door edge guards. They didn't include the instructions or any critical templates. Dealer said download it. Try to download the PDF but you need a legal-size (14" paper) to print correctly to scale. Aaaargh!! @@BoilerDan1

      @mstack1949 maybe insert the pdf into something like PowerPoint, then change the size and save it as a photo and print it smaller?🤪. Or print two pages and tape them together 🤪😵‍💫.

    Well well well, looks like someone held out and waited for the Forester. Looks sleek and elegant. A lot of car washes in your future.

      Ha ha, turned out that I was at the right place right time! When checking out the outback, the Forester was on its way to the dealership and they said they would put my name on it! Sure enough it arrived within about two weeks! I couldn’t choose any equipment, but it has most of the same features. Wife isn’t thrilled that it isn’t blue and has the orange sport accents but she likes less miles on it….. although as I’ve said in the past, the 2020 could easily go for 200,000 miles with minimal maintenance issues.
      We’re heading out in the morning for a week in Florida and then a week at Hilton Head. Definitely blessed in my retirement years. I’ll be dropping off a couple of my models at Port Royal to sell too 🏴‍☠️👍
      Thanks for following along 😁

      There’s a lot of over spending going on……. Hopefully there will be some scientific breakthroughs that make the future brighter in your lifetime as has been the case in mine. In the meantime you might start a little rainy day fund for yourself 😉👍

      @@BoilerDan1 I’ve always been pretty good with money so the couch cushion is stuffed somewhat. After all, I wouldn’t be building model ships if it weren’t. It could get quite expensive for a desk hobby. But I’d still like that retirement pay that I’ve been putting into. I’m sure we all do and hopefully retirement age isn’t at 70 by the time I get there either hahaha.
      But anyway…I’ll keep storing nuts away.

      Probably a good idea. Not sure why painters tape didn’t stick? But the packing tape held tight.
      Your magnet idea would allow you to move it into just the right spot and then secure it with a little tape 👍👍

      Sorry for the delay, I had to look back at the information you requested:

      I’ve purchased two times from them and have been pleased with both purchases.
      Thanks for watching.

    These are not the templates that came with my factory kit. as stated once before in your older video, mine line up under the mirror and door handle, not way below like these.

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  Рік тому

      I was told at the time I purchased mine that Subaru was in the process of having a different supplier make the trim pieces and the part number will change. Installation should be similar. I went ahead and purchased the one in stock instead of waiting for an order to arrive.
      It’s good to let others know that their kit may be a little different.
      Thanks for the update 👍

      Thanks, yes I’m aware of the other options regarding Apple CarPlay, however ever the Garmin does a better job of notifying of what lane to be in from 1 or 1 3/4 miles ahead of the turn and better on screen picture of the upcoming exit. It also is better at notifying of upcoming issues and offers time saving routes that have saved us hours on trips.
      But thanks for watching out for me 👍👍

      I found this one online and when I ordered mine they did have white in stock.
      Note: Subaru is switching providers, the new supplier has different instructions but both fit the 2023 model.

      Yes. I purchased mine from this site:
      www.subarudirectwholesale.com/
      Currently price was listed at $189 plus $20 shipping. Also will mention that there’s two different versions, both fit. The newer version has a different template that is applied from the top of the door. I’ve not used that one, but I think it would be even easier! I’ve loved all 4 of my Foresters. I happen to live in the city where several of the Subaru models are built 😁. Although the Forester is still imported.
      Oh…….My part number was J101SSJ201W6. You can enter your specific model to insure you get the correct item for yours.

    Great video, I have a off-topic question
    I am on the fence between getting a Forester or Outback
    Did you cross shop them?
    I need help making a decision
    Thanks

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  9 місяців тому

      Yes, we’ve compared both.
      We prefer the Forester over the outback. Reasons below:
      Forester is a more solid ride. The Outback felt more like driving a car than an SUV.
      Forester is a little smaller but you sit a little higher.
      Forester was a little less expensive.
      This is our 4th Forester and we have not had any problems. I keep them to about 100,000 miles, and all of them still felt solid. Note - We drive about 25,000 miles a year!
      All Foresters are made in Japan.
      The Outback is made in the USA.
      Just so happens that they are made in the city we live in. Lafayette Indiana.
      There are a lot of Outback’s in our community and it has a good reputation locally.
      But my next purchase will be another Forester.

      @@BoilerDan1 Thanks Dan, I think I will go with the Forester as well, it has the highest resale value of any Subaru or vehicle out there, if you compare the 2019 MSRP to what a 2019 vehicle retails for today, same miles and trim level of course
      Also the interior room is = to the Outback if you compare the interior dimensions on Subaru's site, and of course better acceleration without all the extra weight of the Outback for nothing, the only noticable difference in interior room is cargo with seats up 32.6 cu ft for Outback vs 28.9 cu ft for Forester and with seats down 75.6 cu ft for Outback vs 74.2 cu ft for Forester, so an extra 4 cu ft seats up, 1.4 cu ft seats down for Outback, a non-issue for me

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  9 місяців тому

      @EXCELSIOR_INC 😂… You did a lot more research than me! The only time I needed more room, I just put a topper on the roof and fill it too.
      I’m confident that you will love the Forester. I’ve never even had replace a lightbulb 😂. I do replace wipers as I’m very fickle about a clean windshield.
      Thanks again for watching…..
      I’m interested to see how resale on my 2023 works out. That was during the parts shortages and they were hard to come by….. I’m about 2 1/2 years out, but in 2years I’ll start checking it out.
      I’d like a nice snow storm to go for a drive 😂👍

      @@BoilerDan1 Brace yourself for the totally new design, I can't put links here, so you will have to Google 2025 Subaru Forester, that apparently is going to built where you live and not Japan

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  9 місяців тому

      @EXCELSIOR_INC
      I had read that it was getting updated but didn’t know it was being built here!
      I recall that it may increase in size a little bit and some change in the drivers position to allow better sight out the back. I hope it still has the ride and feel of an SUV.
      I wish they would bring back the Baja model to compete with the new Ford Maverick. There’s speculation that someday they might but everything now is speculation. I’ll do a search for a sneak peek….. Or maybe take my drone out and do a fly over at the Subaru manufacturing facility 😂👍

    What brand are your cross bars?

    • @BoilerDan1
      @BoilerDan1  9 місяців тому

      The are Subaru. This is my 4th Forester. The luggage rack came on one of them, and when I trade one in, I remove and put it on my new one. So far, there haven’t been any changes in the rails for the cross bars. I bet you could save some money if you could find a Forester in a salvage yard that was wrecked?
