  • 7 Part Video Series comparing three of the top selling in-pool chaise loungers.
Part 6 of 7 compares how to empty the water from the core of the lounger to remove the loungers from the pool.
    1. Tenjam Shayz In-Pool Lounger = 10 Points
    2. Floating Luxuries Kai Shelf Lounger = 3 Points
    3. Ledge Lounger Signature Chaise = 1 Point
How we arrived at the scores (1 = lowest, 10 = highest):
    1. Tenjam Shayz In-Pool Lounger = 10 Points: It just doesn't get any easier to empty an in-pool lounger. Shayz is quick and easy to empty. Twist open the vacuum valve under the right armrest. Then lift the front leg rest above the pool water line. This action breaks the vacuum seal and all the internal water begins to drain from the open holes throughout the bottom of Shayz. Hold the front end up for about 30 seconds and then most of the internal water is released. Then it's easy to grab the Shayz at the opening under the armrest for easy removal from the pool. When Shayz is set on the pool deck the open holes on the bottom allow the internal cavity to dry out and prevents internal algae growth.
    2. Floating Luxuries Kai Shelf Lounger = 3 Points: The Kai Lounger we tested had been filled by the homeowner 1 month ago. The owner filled the Kai Lounger with a hose (tap water). When we emptied this lounger it had lots of algae growing inside...yuck. You can see the discoloration on the inside of the lounger and you can see the algae growth on the screw plugs. Besides the internal algae growth, this lounger was a pain to drain. It's a bulky design and we spent a long time draining this. You'll need some pliers to remove the big screw plugs. After draining you should probably leave the screw plugs out and let it try to dry inside.
    3. Ledge Lounger Signature Chaise = 1 point: First you need to flip over this 140+ lbs water filler chaise without scratching it. Then remove the screw plugs with a screwdriver, and awkwardly lift the chaise to try to get most of the water to exit a small hole that isn't at a corner. We couldn't get all of the water out. Then we have to screw the plugs back into the bottom so we don't lose them, but now we just locked the remaining water inside again. Good luck draining the core if you need to put the Ledge Lounger in storage. Ledge Lounger recommends emptying the core once per season and now we understand why it's not more frequent.

You cannot paint or coat the polyethylene material because it won’t bond and will eventually peel off. We’ve experimented with specialty coatings made for polyethylene and we haven’t found a coating we would recommend.
