Assembly of Tenjam Laylo Lounger with Optional Items
Tenjam Laylo Lounger Assembly
This is a 2-piece lounger design by Tenjam. Designed and Made in the USA.
Laylo has optional risers and optional weights that allow you to dial in the seat height and weight of the lounger for use in the widest range of water depths. Consult the Laylo Lounger water depth charts to determine the best set up for this lounger when placed into your pool. You will determine if you need optional risers and optional weights prior to your purchase. Optional risers and weights can be ordered separately, but the risers are much more expensive when shipped separately (with the added cost of shipping).
- Spread out a moving blanket or towels to protect the lounger from being scratched during assembly.
- After reviewing the Laylo Lounger water depth charts you will now insert an optional riser into the backrest piece of the lounger prior to assembly, if this is needed in your water depth.
- Use the three plastic connectors, designed by Tenjam, to attach the backrest to the leg rest. Hand tighten only, no tools required.
- Snap in the optional risers if you ordered these. Add biodegradable dish soap to the tongue of the riser if it's a tight fit.
- See the install of the rear riser in the video. See how the rear riser had a tighter fit, so we filled the lounger upright and gave pressure from the top of the lounger seat that helped to fully snap this riser into it's place.
- Laylo is now ready for placing it into your pool. If optional weight is needed in the leg rest portion of the lounger for your pool depth, you could add the weight(s) to the leg rest prior to filling Laylo or after filling Laylo. The weight(s) to not need to be added or removed every time you fill or empty Laylo.

    Is there any way to remove the algae that has formed INSIDE the pool lounger?

      Thanks for sending us a photo of the product you are trying to clean. That brand, Pool Mate, also makes pool chemicals and they offer and Algaecide. We see competitors products that don’t allow pool water to recirculate easily through the product core and this promotes internal algae growth. Once you have algae growing in the core of the products it's very difficult to remove, as you know. The bleach you added into the core of your loungers most likely killed the existing algae, but now you need to get that out of the lounger core and this is probably not possible. To be fair to Pool Mate, their lounger is not made for in-pool use, yet many consumers like the ultra-low price and decide to drill holes in that product in an attempt to use it on the sun shelf. Look into Algae Dissolvers: • Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2): When added to water containing algae, H2O2 breaks down into water and oxygen, releasing free oxygen radicals in the process. These free oxygen radicals can then react with and destroy the cell walls and membranes of algae cells, causing them to die off. • Baking soda and Borax: These lift stains and loosen the algae’s roots from the pool’s walls and bottom. The chlorine bleach kills algae and bacteria in the water. Baking soda also raises the pH of your pool water. • Chlorine bleach: It rapidly kills and dissolves algae. Unfortunately, I think you’re going to have to try different algaecides/chemicals to work at this. You could drill 2” to 3” holes with a hole saw into the underside and back of the loungers so you have space to insert a long-handled cleaning brush. I’ve seen one consumer use a dryer vent brush that attaches to their electric drill, and they worked this brush into the loungers to clean algae that was stuck to the inner walls. It’s a big job and you’re probably going to have to get creative on how to get a brush inside. If you decide to purchase in-pool furniture, consider products that allow for a lot of pool water movement between the pool and the core of the furniture. At Tenjam, our products have multiple bottom air/drain holes that allow for this water recirculation between the pool and product core. It’s also helpful to remove the products from the pool when they are not in use, and again, the Tenjam products don’t trap water inside, so when you lift them from the pool the water drains. Avoid in-pool products that trap water in the core and require you to change out the water in the core of the products frequently. If water is trapped in the product core it will become stagnant and nasty when it's not emptied and refilled with treated water constantly.

      @@4TENJAM What an amazing company you are! Helping a client with another company's product is unheard of and very appreciated. I am going to try the hydrogen peroxide after having my friend help loosen things up a bit with his power sprayer (not on full blast of course) and if that doesn't work, I think I'll let someone on Freecycle, who might be handier than I am, try their hand at fixing them. Thank you so very much for your thorough and prompt reply.

      Yes, Infinity Sun Shelf is available for purchase through local pool builders/remodelers. The builder takes delivery and coordinates everything needed for installation. We have an install checklist that requires you have an 8’ x 8’ space next to your pool where the sun shelf can be installed without interfering with existing skimmer baskets. The builder also need to determine where a 2” diameter water line can be installed between the pool pump systems area to the back of the sun shelf. Generally the product costs around $12,600, plus installation cost and possible additional pump cost. If interested you may email us at customercare@tenjam.com and let us know your zip code and we can connect you with a local pool builder for a site visit to determine the final installed cost. Generally the installation takes 1-3 days, depending on the complexity in running the new 2” diameter water line.

    My furniture looks yellow above the water line. I believe it is the actual color of the lounger and below the water line looks like it has been bleached. Hubby and I disagree about the cause. I say the water bleached the lounger. He says the sun made the lounger more yellow. It was never white, but more of a tan granite. I say, submerge the loungers in the pool over winter to see if the chlorine will bleach it all the way. It looks awful and while I can clean the water line, I have no idea how to get it to match color. Any thoughts?

      Thanks for the message. We see this on all makes and models of in-pool furniture and it’s especially noticeable on solid white furniture. Can you send us a message with a photo(s) of the furniture and we can share it with our friends at a pool chemical chemical company. Our email is customercare@tenjam.com. Sometimes the furniture above the water line has a lot of airborne dust and debris that causes the discoloration. We’ve found a chemical called “30 Seconds” Outdoor Cleaner that you could try on your furniture to see if this is a discoloration that will turn back to white with bleach. We’ve had customers use this on surface Algae, mold, mildew, and debris with great success. If this works we are good. If this doesn’t work, then keeping your furniture submerged all winter probably wouldn’t work either. This is where our chemistry friends may give us some guidance. Thanks for sharing and we will work to find answers for you and others who are experiencing discoloration on in-pool furniture.

      We did a review of the Tenjam Woosah Chair versus the Tupelo Goods Bask Chair. This comparison video is on UA-cam. The Tupelo products that we’ve tried all need to be filled similar to the Ledge Lounger products and are ultra-heavy and you need to go through the effort of emptying the water from the core in order to lift them out of the pool. Tupelo is introducing their first lounger and it works up to 9” depth, didn’t appear to have an easy fill/empty system and is priced 2x higher than the Tenjam and Ledge Lounger products shown in this comparison video.

You gave your comment on aesthetics. How about commenting on which lounger you feel wins on these features/benefits? 1. Comfort? Which lounger would you choose if comfort was your #1 consideration? 2. Which lounger would you choose if the ease of filling, ease of placing the lounger into the pool, was your #1 consideration? 3. Ease of removing the lounger from the pool when a pool cover needs to be added? 4. Ability to quickly drain the lounger for storage? 5. Ability of the loungers to be adaptable to various pool depths? 6. Do you feel armrests are helpful when getting into the lounger or getting out of the lounger? 7. Do you feel the armrests might increase the comfort while in the lounger? Why didn't you just take the Kai lounge into the pool to fill it entirely with pool water like you did with the Tenjam?

    • @4TENJAM
      @4TENJAM 4 місяці тому

      the Kai Lounger instructions specifically stated to fill the product with a hose. The owner of this pool where we did the videos had purchased the Kai Loungers 1 month before the shoot and when we arrived at this pool we immediately noticed the Kai Loungers had a load of algae growing inside them. We asked the owner about the algae and he said he followed the instructions and filled them with a hose. We then drained the Kai loungers and algae poured out of them and we had algae globs all over the pool, which we had to clean before filming. When we filled the Kai Loungers in the video we did mention that we thought it would be best to fill these with as much of the pool water as possible, which we did fill partially. Then we followed the manufacturers instructions and completed the filling by using a hose. Note: when filled with water the Kai Lounger is 250+ lbs and not very easy to manage. We also suggested to the owner of the Kai Loungers that they change out the pool water every few days to avoid more internal algae growth. The owner of these has since purchased Tenjam Shayz Loungers for their pool.

    I wish I could find a review like this that was neutral. Of course Tenjam is going to say that their lounger is the best. I'm not saying it's not, but would just prefer a more unbiased review.

    • @4TENJAM
      @4TENJAM 4 місяці тому

      We appreciate the comment and tried to point out as many details as we could find and made a 7 part video series. As we review each product we attempt to show details that someone wouldn’t know or see unless they purchased a bunch of in-pool loungers and ran through the same comparisons. It really comes down to a handful of critical factors: #1 is comfort #2 ability to adjust the height of the lounger to adapt to your water depth. #3 ease of placing in the pool and ease of removing from the pool. Of these three factors you can watch all 7 videos and make your own determination on which lounger you’d rather have in your own pool. Of course, we’ve design the Tenjam Shayz to specifically address the factors that we think are most important. Maybe you have other factors more important you?

    • @davidnettleton3375
      @davidnettleton3375 4 місяці тому

      @@4TENJAM I understand, and I did watch all 7 videos yesterday. I guess my point is that I don't recall a single negative being pointed out for the Shayz. We all know that no product is absolutely perfect, so I think it would have made this review more believable if you had at least pointed out a couple areas where one of the other loungers was slightly better. Ledge is considered by many people to be the ultimate, top of the line pool lounger, so it's really hard for me to believe that yours is better in every single way. Having said all this, I am still very interested in purchasing the Shayz, but I've not been able to find where I can go look at it first in a retail outlet. Your website states that you sell through retail outlets, but doesn't list any or provide a link to find them. Another concern I have is depth. I really don't want to have to use risers, My pool builder states that my sun shelf will be about 6-7 inches deep. From the videos, it seems that is too deep to use without the riser, but maybe too shallow with risers. What is the downside of using the chair without risers in an extra inch or so of water? Thanks!

    • @4TENJAM
      @4TENJAM 4 місяці тому

      @@davidnettleton3375 to find if we have a retailer near you please send us an email at customercare@tenjam.com and let us know your city and state. Make sure to let us know you’re looking for a location with a Shayz Lounger on display. Once the water depth goes above 5” you’ll see the front end of Shayz will lose contact with the bottom of the pool and this is why we offer risers. Adding the 4” riser will put the lowest part of the seat at approximately 5.75” from the ground and this allows Shayz to work in up to 9” depth. At your pool depth slightly over 5” the risers will make sure Shayz stays in place, the slightly higher seat is also a little easier to get in and out of the seat. If you don’t want risers you can still use Shayz in your water depth, but expect the front end to bob up and down. Ledge Lounger designs have a very high hump under your legs and the intent is to keep more of the lounger above the pool water so it can act as additional weight (once filled with water) to keep the lounger in place. However, you’ll see in the “filling” video that it was still bobbing on the front end after filling it. Plus they make a major trade off on comfort by adding this hump/high leg rest. Hope that answer helps.

      The Moon Chair will fit a 250 lbs man and one of our sales reps is 6'0", 250 lbs and he loves the moon chair. I'm 5'11", 190 lbs and I think the Moon chair sits too low for me and the backrest is only a half height backrest that doesn't give me the full body support. I much prefer the Tenjam Woosah Chair. We have the Woosah Chairs in many showrooms around the country and everyone who sits on it thinks it's the most comfortable in-pool chair available from any manufacturer. Recently we had a 300lb+ guy who was 6'4" on the Woosah and he said this was the first time he's loved an in-pool chair....and he bought 2 of them. I highly suggest the Tenjam Woosah you and I know you'll love it.

    Do you have suggestions for a table ffor a sundeck that doesn’t have an umbrella sleeve?

    • @4TENJAM
      @4TENJAM 5 місяців тому

      At Tenjam we make a Ripple Table that is 18" height x 15.5" diameter, and works in water depths up to 9". We have an Amped Table that has two cupholders and works in up to 10" water depth. Our other tables do have umbrella holes. The Ripple Wide Table in this video does have the hole on top that allows an umbrella to pass through the product, but you can always use it without an umbrella - it will just have a 2 1/8" hole on top. We are working on a new table for water depths up to 17", but that won't launch until late 2024.

    • @4TENJAM
      @4TENJAM 5 місяців тому

      You cannot paint or coat the polyethylene material because it won’t bond and will eventually peel off. We’ve experimented with specialty coatings made for polyethylene and we haven’t found a coating we would recommend.

  • @ryantcollier
    @ryantcollier 7 місяців тому

    If using this table in more than 10" of water, you can attach coated, lead weights to the holes at the top of the table - similar to the lead weight hack for using 4" risers on the Shayz lounger in water greater than 9".

    • @4TENJAM
      @4TENJAM 7 місяців тому

      Absolutely, you could add a coated diving weight to stabilize the table in water deeper than 10". This table has a removable top tray that will cover the holes and zip ties you add. Start by setting the table in your pool (no deeper than 17") and add weights to the top of the table to determine how much additional weight is needed. Then purchase one or two coated diving weights at the total weight you determined. Remove the top tray of this table and drill holes (large enough to thread a zip tie through) - making sure not to interfere with the umbrella hole if you plan to use this table with an umbrella. Simply secure the weight inside the table with the zip tie and then add the top tray to cover the zip tie and added holes. This would be a simple user hack that we commonly see people doing to the front riser of Shayz lounger to make it work in deeper water than it was designed for.

    Such a dmart design. Does your lounger move around or stay stable?

    • @4TENJAM
      @4TENJAM 8 місяців тому

      Tenjam Shayz Lounger has a patent pending snap-in riser design. We also have a patent pending filling and draining system that holds additional water in the core of the lounger when it's in the pool, but as soon as you lift the front of Shayz Lounger above the pool water it releases the vacuum water seal and allows the water to quickly release from the core .... so you don't have to try lifting a water filled lounger out of the pool. This system also keeps water recirculating and refreshed in the core so it doesn't promote algae growth. Shayz Lounger stays very stable in the pool as long as you use the correct risers for your pool depth: - Shayz without risers works in up to 5" water depth. - Shayz with 4" risers works in up to 9" water depth. - Shayz with 8" risers works in up to 13" water depth. - Shayz with 12" risers works in up to 17" water depth. We also have a video showing how some people have added diving weights inside the front riser to get the Shayz to work in slightly deeper water.

      The Ledge Lounger Autograph Chaise is $1,499 today - one of the most expensive in-pool loungers on the market. The backrest does lean back further. The main difference is that Ledge Lounger has a giant peak in the leg support and this only fits a small range of people. Kids and many adults will find the bend at their knee will not line up with the peak of the leg support on the Ledge Lounger. Whereas, the Tenjam Shayz has a more relaxed leg support that fits the widest range of people from children to tall adults. Don't forget the Ledge Lounger Autograph Chaise is 251 Lbs when full of water and it's an event to fill and drain their loungers. Ok, what if you have 12" water but want to be in the water more? Can you go with small riser and then just weight it down instead of doing the medium riser?

    • @4TENJAM
      @4TENJAM 8 місяців тому

      Just saw your question: With a 4" riser the lowest point of the seat is approximately 5.75" and this works in up to 9" water depths. If you choose these small 4" risers and you set Shayz in a 12" depth you will need to add weights to the risers (possibly in both the front and back riser). If you go with the 8" risers your seat will be 9.75" at the lowest point and this will work in up to 13" depth without adding any weights. With the 8" risers you'd still be sitting in a couple inches of water and it's easy to splash water on yourself to cool down if needed. I will say that the 8" risers do set the seat a bit higher and this does make it easier to get into and get out of the seat.

    Ledge lounger has a chase called deep chaise. Goes from 10 to 15 inches of water. They also have the autograph lounger which is pretty nice too and looks super comfy. I think using the signature lounger for this video was a little unfair bc the lounger you used is for a very shallow tanning ledge. The other loungers companies couldnt even do that or offer that. People should know ledge lounger has a few different options. I just feel if you are going to make a video it should be completely transparent. Not to mention it looks so much sleeker than the other two.

      We selected a pool with an 8-9" sun shelf depth because every in-pool lounger on the market can work in this depth.... Trying to make the comparison as fair as possible. Let's face it - Ledge Lounger Signature Chaise and their Deep Signature Chaise have poor ergonomics and they are challenging to fill & empty, plus they require the consumer to lock the water into the core of their products. Once full of water the Ledge lounger Signature Chaise is 144 lbs, the Ledge Lounger Deep Signature Chaise is 270 lbs, and Ledge Lounger Autograph Chaise is 251 lbs - good luck changing out the water in the core or trying to take these in and out of your pool, or the wear and tear on pools with vinyl liners.

    What are the dimensions of that sun shelf?

    • @4TENJAM
      @4TENJAM 8 місяців тому

      This shelf was approximately 8' wide x 6'-6" front-to-back. The depth of this shelf was approximately 8" near the back of the chairs and 9" at the front of the chairs. We see sun shelf depths from 3" to 18", with 7" to 15" being the most common. If you make your sun shelf 8" water depth you'll be able to choose from the widest range of in-pool furniture. Tenjam and most manufacturers have all the products working in at least 9" water depths. Tenjam Shayz Lounger has a patent pending snap-in riser design that allows the consumer to choose from different riser heights so it can work in a wide range of pool depths. Also, consider adding an umbrella sleeve into the base of your pool to give you a solid place to secure your in-pool umbrella - don't rely on water filled in-pool tables to hold an umbrella because they cannot withstand the wind. Lastly, if adding bubblers to a sun shelf, consider which furniture you will use in your pool and where it will be placed. We see a lot of bubblers added in the same spot where you want to add a Chair, Table, or Lounger and the force of the bubblers will sometimes push the furniture around.

    • @4TENJAM
      @4TENJAM Рік тому

      Just saw your question. The edge of the pool is about a 12.5" step down. the depth of the water right against the edge is about 8" deep. The sun shelf slopes downward as you get closer to the main pool. So we have 8" at the edge and about 9" where the front of the lounger sits.
