Darqueze Dennard really caught my attention, a physical CB, a shutdown corner, pretty fast, has great ball skills, but has a injury history, is a injury prone type of player.
loved the music choices and also the fact you included rashaad reynolds in your list , however i personally think he's a big time gem and IMO he's the 4th best corner . 1 dennard 2.gilbert 3. verret 4.Rashaad reynolds 5. kyle fuller. reynolds only knock imo is his size. the guy has terrific anticipation , awareness ball skills and tackling ability . he plays the ball like few other do in this draft and that is my 2nd favorite attribute in a corner . favorite is locking down of course which dennard imo is the best but gotta say love the vids, breakdowns and song choices.
Thanks a lot man, you allways shown support on my videos with your comments from early on. Reynolds I fel like we'll be good/solid but not great like quite a few CB coming out of the OSU program these years. He has shown great flashes but really not as consistent as I would like to see from a CB.
well IF they decide to pick a CB with their first pick it has to be the best CB out there because I can't imagine teams starting to pick a CB before that 15 to 20 pick range. As far as who fits best it's not so easy but I believe they need at least 1 guy who can mirror WRs who is a true #1 CB outta there and gives your pass rush more time to get to the QB which is VERY important in Detroit. I say stay local with the guy from Michigan State. But you guys could pick any of the first 4 with you first round pick. Mayb try to work sth. out like geting 1 in FA and 1 in the draft to have 2 new guys come in that are expected to be starters somehow....that would create competition with the guys you allready have. But I never would go back 1st and 2nd on the same position....normally doesn't work out the way you would like it. You guys could also stack up on your o-line a bit and bring in some new guys at LB
Great vid though I definitely subscribed and I'm 13 and I'm 5"6 and I play safety/cornerback I like cornerback better but they put me at safety because of the height and I'm really fast
Well i'm a corner-back, i'm 14 and I'm 5'4". I don't really back pedal too much because next thing you know the wide receiver fakes me out and get 8 yards on the play because i was back peddling too much. I tend to stay 5-8 yards away from the receiver when I'm in my starting stance, I jam and stay on the outside of the wide receiver, but the thing is I can't really touch the receiver after 5 yards so I just, as I said before I stay on the outside of the receiver. People say I'm pretty good at playing man to man coverage and overall I'm a pretty good CB.
Man you are only 14, thats when I started playing CB too...you gain a lot of experience untill it really matters your JR & SR year. Good offenses know how to rip a secondary apart that only plays off coverage on every play. As said backpedal woud be the wrong thing to do as soon as you are 7-8 yards away, unless you know there is a deep ball coming. I also coach DBs now and believe me everybody has his own technique. And thats not a bad thing, when I started playing I diden't have very good coaching and honstly allready knew it better and played my own style of play. I allways tried to mirror Nnamdi Asomugha, plays very smart and hides weaknesses and makes opponents play into his strength. The first time when you coach tells you to switch coverage to "that" certain guy for the rest of the game and you manage to competly shut him down you going to understand it's way better than making big plays/ INTs. Not a pick 6 tho thats the on thing every cornerback wants to do....highstep a 90 yard pick 6 on the opponents sideline and look at them like Deion Sanders did it before ;)
TrueToFootball Deion was REALLY fast, that's how he ran it all the way to the house. Me, I'm not the fastest, I usually stay about 5 yards back because my 15 year old cousin taught me a valuable lesson, I stood 3 yards from him ready to jam him, but you know what happened, he decked me out right from the line, he has very good burst for a WR and he's 5'7" and I'm 5'4" so now I stay 5 yards back. I tend to watch A lot of film and see the mistakes the pros make and try to capitalize on it. I ran the 40 yard dash and I got 4.63, (I ran it in my house though so yeah. Great vid though, I liked and subscribed. ;)
Athlete789 Haha appreciate that, well I am 6'2 and play corner as well and I am not the fastest either probably even slower than you if you really run 4,63. Trust me offcial times are a whole lot different. I was shocked when I was clocked professionally for the first time even tho I was expecting something like that. Make the offense play into your strength, gotta make them bite, make them believe they got a play there. At least thats the way I play, trick the QB and hope he doesn't trick you when you are trying LOL You still young and in the ende you gotta have fun playing the game
TrueToFootball man your tall, 6'2" is the maximum for CB height, you can probably defend 6'5 wide receivers like Calvin Johnson, but I got a question. What is the possibility of an corner-back getting injured? I'm asking this question because I want to go back to playing tackle football at the CB position. Also I have great catching ability, I practice catching balls everyday, like I find myself getting 8 int's in probably 16-25 games playing at recess on the field with my friends. PS: I don't really mind getting injured as long as I recover fast.
Athlete789 You normally only get injured when YOU are doing sth. wrong. Typical CBs injuries are normally hamstrings, and other muscle tears and strais. Knee injuries can happen to everybody but again, for CB these injuries are in the most cases not contact related. You should do well at both, don't be scared of injuries just be prepared and manage yourself right
Surprise that Keith McGill was not listed, though he must be in your 4th or 5th round selections. I also liked Antone Exum as well, though I guess the injury he had had him dropped. Looks like Free Safeties are next or Strong Safeties is next. Is expecting it by Tuesday realistic?
As far as McGill goes I can say that scouts will question his effort. He seems not interested in tackling at times also to me looks not quic, agile enough to break on these quick routes. Exum looks pretty good but as you said his injury concern makes him drop.played only 3 games this year and hasn't shown enough consistency to me to put him into the 3rd round despite of that. Both should be early day 3 prospects yes. Free Safeties is allready up and Strong Safeties will be up today.
TrueToFootball In a way, I am not worried about McGill's effort as I feel that Gus Bradley will change that. While I don't believe much may length and hand size, however, in this case, I guess I kinda make an exception since I love big physical corners. McGill has bigger hands and length than Stanely. I do worry about his agility as he seems to not be able to stop short passes and his recovery speed is average, both not good size. However, I think the deal breaker for me about McGill is that he seems a bit too lanky so that is why I love Antone Exum. He, too me, if healthy, he could be at least be around a 2nd rounder prospect or even more. Pound for pound, he has the most muscle out of any of the corner backs this year. Though I do wonder about his press coverage, his football IQ, recovery speed and more. Can you share a bit more about him? I am seeing the draftbreakdowns video of him and I already have opinions, just wanted to know yours.
ReaperxRsKx I play CB at 6'2 and also coach highschool kids and I take proud in have that physical size matchup advantage believe me, also I say allways press when you feel comfortable with it because its the best coverage. So yes I can agree onthat I like the upside McGill have, and if you watched my videos last year the guy from Montana Trumaine Johnson I was pretty high on and he showed what he can do with the Rams this year. But I don't have a good feeling about McGill this year. Well I diden't rank Exum as 3rd round grade because he hasn't shown any consistency in the only 3 games he played some snaps in. Only mad a couple of tackles. I think if you go back to the 2011 tape where he played safety he looked better than at corner. I think he was more consistent at safety making plays in space. His press covera skills are ok. What I diden't see much is him driving on the football, breaking aggressivly on shorter routes which good man cover corners normally can do. That all in combination with the injury and the consistency thing he drops out of my day1 and day 2 lists
I think comparing anyone to Revis ain't fair for sure, to create a island it takes literally blood sweat and years of hard consistent effort. To expect him to grow into sth. like that..thats huge and wrong to anybody IMO He's pretty good as far as shut down WRs tho you are right
Yeah Reynolds does need to be more consistent . But I think he's got a lot more potential then you give him credit for and when it's all said and done he might be one of the best corners to come from this draft . Him being from OSU shouldn't work against him as he has to play pretty good offenses in the PAC 12 .
No I don't mean OSU that way, I said OSU seems to have pretty good DB coaching and most of them prospects look good but nobody went to the great level on the NFL level I mean. Don't really know how to feel about that, Poyer who looked even better than Reynolds switched to safety and he like I allready said looked great
@TrueToFootball it is unfair to compare him to Revis , all I'm trying to say is he looks like him with how he plays , not that he's going to be the best corner in the NFL . But hey I'm a little bias when it comes to cornerbacks because my favorite ones are the lockdown mirror corners and not the turnover corners who rely on their athletic ability more so than ability like justin Gilbert . That's why my favorite NFL corners are Revis , aqib Taliban and jimmy smith .
I understand you point and actually I also value the shutdown guys more than the others...my favorite still is Asomugha back when he played with the Raiders. Loved his game. Dennard still is a first round pick to me remember but I think others are more proposing as far as developmental talent I'd say. His style of play will be interesting to watch in the NFL, also he has these inconsistency traits sometimes with catching and tackling
You know what i would really like to see happen. I'd like my team (the falcons) to take Stanley jean-Baptiste at the top of the 3rd and convert him into a free safety. We could use a upgrade at the position and he has ideal size and coverage ability, from what i've seen he's a sold tackler as well.
Hmmm interesting idea but I don't know how fast he can change direction and get from sideline to sideline. Could work but if you want a FS you could really get a good one that range of picks
TrueToFootball yeah i guess so, my thinking is if he doesn't work out there he could always still be a corner haha, but i feel like teams will take a chance on him higher because they might see "the next Richard Sherman" in him
Millern Jarrett-Thorpe yep and thats why we may see some bigger corners get overrated and overpicked over the next few years. It's starting to become like the newest trend LOL But not everybody got the athletic skillset of a 5'10 guy in a 6'3 body....common f***ing sense
It'd be nice to see the skins get one of these guys but we so screwed up I don't know that we can afford do spend a 2nd day pick on a cb. if we resign hall and Amerson I don't know that you can justify say lamarcus joyner at the top of the second with so man inside backers safteys wide receivers and interior lineman on the board. not to mention we could use some defensive ends and another offensive tackle wouldn't hurt. theres a heck of a lot of corner depth but with all our needs D-Hall and Amerson might have to do.
I don't think you guys can afford that. You have different needs and secondary got adressed last year in the draft with a lot of good players IMO Hatcher got signed to start so I believe youguys are fine there as well. The only position on defense I could see you guys go after early would be that MLB. On offense could be anything, especially TE or O_line
He would have been my next guy to make my rankings, no joke here. In the the end I literally was like just not convinced enough if I'd spend a 3rd round pick on him. Should be a early day3 pick
Lamarcus joyners only con was his height but his as tall as darqueeze dennard and jason verret. I would put lamarcus joyner in front of both of those guys any day.
Well actually not, theres a difference between 5'11 Dennard, 5'10 Verrett and 5'8 Joyner. There is a reason the allready played him a slot in college, no way he'll play outside in the NFL then either...and this reason is size. How would it look to have him cover Megatron....definitely not good as soon as the ball is in the air! He's a outstanding corner don't get me wrong, and I honstly belive he could become a elite slot-CB or even strong safety in the NFL but not an outside cornerback.
TrueToFootball I'm not an Ohio fan. I'm an Ohio State fan. Roby does have downsides but not enough to make him No. 10. Like you made Greg Robinson No.8 on your lineman video. that outrageous! Or having Kyle Van Noy at No.1. He is an absolutely amazing player, but he is not better than Khalil Mack, Anthony Barr, or Ryan Shazier.
Yeah whatever you think is right dude but in the end thats my opinion and if I'd just say lets copy the rankings from the media I diden't have to make these videos. IMO he indeed isbetter than mack, barr and shazier and IMO Robinson indeed isn't that good as well
Fighting_Tiger45 People called the success of the Seahawks crazy, Chiefs went from #1 pick to playoff gurantee. Football is more crazy than normal isn't it The only thing predictable in this league is Peyton Manning, he gone score any given sunday but what happend super bowl sunday If you'd look at these NFL.com espn/cbs what so ever rankings from the past you'd find out that these guys aren't as accurate as we often believe. They are so called analyst or even experts but in reality only sit behind the computer their entire life and checked stats. Everybody should understand that the best idea of increasing your knowledge about players is listening to others opinions because they may have seen something you haven't and you may have seen something they havent. First impression, second look, inside analysis, stats comparison, consistency of play against level of competion, THEN raw athletic skills( you need a certain level but anything more can help, but isn't going to do anything for you if it's the only thing you got) Just to give you a small idea of my approach
Darqueze dennard is better than verret and gilbert (as a corner) Verret is not very good tackling, is secure but not good. He had a very good recovery time because he is bad reading plays (comparing to Dennard). About Gilbert, he is more complete than Dennard because he is a return specialist and had a veeeery good ball carrier vision, but as a corner is not as good as Dennard. Gilbert is a hasty corner, and for the NFL that isn't good.
I know Dennards game is special but risky don't know how he will adapt to the NFL level. I think if he can be great like any of these 3 guys, Dennard diden't do a good job tackling either. All 3 are clear cut 1st Round picks and sure wil do a good job in the NFL ;)
I agree with you (; I think Dennard is a prototype corner and may have trouble fitting in all the NFL teams, but if he is selected by an agreesive defense he would be a beast. But yes, the 3 of them are clearly 1st Round picks. By the way man, you do a great job. Very nice video! hope you do it for next draft (:
Pepe Suarez I am going to do that every year. Draft Rankings, Mock Drafts, Draft Grades, it's just the time during the season where I am not sure about, also because I can't make Team Previews with good video clips anymore because these often get blocked by youtube
Darqueze Dennard really caught my attention, a physical CB, a shutdown corner, pretty fast, has great ball skills, but has a injury history, is a injury prone type of player.
arguably the deepest cb draft class ever. great vid!
Thanks, yeah it's a very good one but deepest ever is to much IMO
loved the music choices and also the fact you included rashaad reynolds in your list , however i personally think he's a big time gem and IMO he's the 4th best corner .

Hey I am a lions fan and as you may know they need help at the CB position. Who do you think they should draft with there 1st round pick
well IF they decide to pick a CB with their first pick it has to be the best CB out there because I can't imagine teams starting to pick a CB before that 15 to 20 pick range. whats the song when lamarcus joyners highlights start
I am a eagles fan any corner back u recommend for us? I love Gilbert and fuller
I think Gilbert would be the only guys should should look at round 1, I'd say guy with a DB round 2 or/and3
What is the first song? Not the one by ludicrous.

What song is this?
Big K.R.I.T. - Hometown Hero is the first one
What about Ifo Ekpre-Olomu?
He choose to stay with the Ducks for 1 more year, expect big things out of him this year tho!

It's starting to become like the newest trend LOL

Yes, diden't like much what I saw from him, 4th rounder IMO
Vic Hampton so beast
I see you are a Gamecocks fan, and I agree even tho he diden't flash at the Combine he's a beast
No Terrance Mitchell out of Oregon?!

Everybody should understand that the best idea of increasing your knowledge about players is listening to others opinions because they may have seen something you haven't and you may have seen something they havent. First impression, second look, inside analysis, stats comparison, consistency of play against level of competion, THEN raw athletic skills( you need a certain level but anything more can help, but isn't going to do anything for you if it's the only thing you got)
Just to give you a small idea of my approach
