Thank you for this awesome course. I would definitely like to see how to build SD2. I feel like everybody talks about them, but no one shows how to implement them
Very instructive, really well explained. I enjoyed it very very much. Watch out for the links and the many resources. Amazing! Thank you!! One more thing. May I ask for the instructors name? 🙌🏻
I learnt a lot with the video, thank you. One question I have on creating relationships and not merging is: if I have an attribute that I want to see as it was in the point in time when I added the rows to the facts table, would the attribute keep updating for all entries, or just for the new ones? e.g. Client was a Small Business back in March 23, now it has grown and it is a Large business. Would I see the transactions from 2023 as a Small Business, and now transactions will be under Large Business bucket for the same client? I noticed that merging, it only applies again to the new facts added each month, but the downside is that the query gets very slow and heavy really quick.
Thank you guys for pulling out this amazing training. I was pretty much following from the beginning until the Multi fact table. I found the Multi fact table part confusing. I really enjoyed Mitchell's teaching style. Really hope there'll be more tutorials from Mitchell regarding Mult fact table as well as the slowly changing dimensions!!
Really liked the variety of examples that one could immediately apply in their own work to make better Data Models! Interested in exploring the Fabric side of this work going forward. Thanks for sharing the multiple resources and links!
I just really wanted Mitchell to say "I was building data models before you were born!" hehe.. fun session and thank you so much for this great session!
Wow!! I am enjoying watching this video tutorial! Thank you @Pragmaticworks for recording this video and uploading it to UA-cam. This is the most detailed and well explained tutorial video on Data Modeling I have watched so far on UA-cam. The video quality and sound output is top-notch. One question though... what is the brand name of that microphone you used for this video? I mean that microphone on your left hand-side in this video... I want to go buy the same mic. The sound output is just so good! 😀
Our data model incorporates multiple date dimension tables, each mapped to fact tables based on specific date keys, such as Order Date, Delivery Date, and Processing Date. The primary and most frequently used date dimension is the HistoryDate table.
Great Learning by example and provide usecase. I can use exercise file and follow along, recommend if you need to be better understand create Data Model handling multiple fact tables and deal with multiple date role calculation.
This is great video about data modeling. I missed only one thing. If you used AI for languages (here my native language is hindi)then it will be a great next steps to connect more views to your video.
Great Channel! So thankful I came accross.. i was able to slowly build our dashboard. however I got problem with the auto refresh from my BI desktop and BI web. I think it's because my data was stored in my local drive. Tried to save it it sharepoint however I cannot figure out how to configure. Also, tried to configure bi gateway also, still dont know how to configure it properly. Sirs, im wondering if you can give me tips how to manage this. Thank you from Philippines!
The slow changing dimension is what I would like to know more about. For a NGO, you'll need to update the service hourly/unit charge for each service delivered on a regular basis, e.g., annually or 6 monthly.
Would really like to learn about slowly changing dimension. I would like to have my price in a dim, but it will change over time and I do not want the person capturing the price to capture it every time in the fact sheet as it would be extra admin and they might get it wrong???!!!! Yes PLEASE tell me how to do this. Thanks.
Hi. Came upon an issue today. In one of my dimensional tables I have a number in a column (let's say the price of the unique item). In the fact table I have many of the same items with a quantity sold column. I then wanted to create a pivot table per item with from the Fact Table the quantity field and from the dimensional table price field. I then wanted to put both these numbers in the Values field of the pivot, but when I wanted to drag the dimensional price value in the value field, it said I had no relationship (although I do have a one to many in the model from dimensional table to Fact table.. I could drag the price column from the dimensional table into the rows, so they will show next to each other, but then you can do no calculation on the price data. Hope this makes sense. The bigger problem would then be what if the price is in the dim table and the quantity in the fact table and then you want to work out the price x quantity?
Solved myself. I will use normal Merge into the Fact Table to get price from Dim Table into the Fact Table so I can do calcs in fact table and not get a one to many relationship to drag the field in.
Hallo. Thanks for the course. Question: In your case Power BI created relationships automatically except for Dim Date. However in My case relationship was created automatically only between Customer and Sales tables. And when I tried to connect manually Geography - Customer and Sales - Product it refused saying it had duplicate zipcode and productID. Shall I remove duplicates?
i got a little problem when i opened cvs Sales file all columns where in the same column it just didn't separate them into different columns but in power bi it separated it perfectly
The only thing I dont understand is this. Lets say I recieve my data as a CSV everyday a flat CSV like we have. How do I reload the powerBI with the new data?
Anyone else have issues selecting multiple columns in Power Query? I have tried Cntrl and Shift and it simply won't work. Stuck on trying to remove duplicates at the very beginning because I can't select more than one column at a time!
Which is recommended, building semantic models using Dataflow Gen2 (the current Power BI feature) or using dim and fact tables in a data warehouse within MS Fabric? Which is better for scaling out? Also how to import tables stored in the semantic model LTWN-Modeling Example and delete the Power BI based model in MS fabric?

A video on the different Slowly Changing Dimension Types (0, 2, maybe 3) with examples in Power BI would be AWESOME!
Great channel: I have managed to persuade a UK government department to pay a subscription for 4 of us to trial for 12 months
Thanks for the opportunity.
I've set my calendar waiting for the time.
You explain everything so well. I felt like I was in class. This was extremely helpful

I think what I am asking is what the guy below asked :) after googling 'Slowly Changing Dimension Types'

Is this live? Effects and sound are perfect
This is pre-recorded and delivered as a premiere in UA-cam so we can have higher quality!
Fantastic team. Thanks a lot Michael!!!

Another excellent course, thank you for sharing.
Fantastic video, so useful :) Thank you
Thanks for the clarity of explanation
Really exciting stuff. Looking forward to learn from the Pro's
Great session
Thank you so much for the informative session
Mitch can we get a data modeling course with the data in a microsoft sql server database ?
I would love to see Voice of the Customer survey data as one of your products you review.
Thank you bros
Excited for this.
Thanks
Please I will need a video in slowly changing dimensions
Thank you
Thanks so much, appreciate it.

Will you please post a recording of this? I won't be able to stay for the whole event.
This Session is being recorded and will be available on UA-cam.
Can you increase the view @@PragmaticWorks
Is this going to be available on the UA-cam channel, my service providers are acting up, can I come back later to watch and follow along again?
Yes this is recorded.

are there any breaks on this presentation?
Do we have any limitations on number records to read from large csv or txt file??

Interesting
This is great, but how does this perform with big data?? say 500 million rows +
I want to know if the session is still going to take place
Yes, this session is at 11:00 AM EST today
@@PragmaticWorksGood day. Please will there be course materials so we can follow along as we watch? Thanks.

I couldn't find Fabric Analyst In a Day course... is it named something else now?

Didn't include the Devin Knight link in notes. please post.

6 Hours to go
The class files show 4 files, but you showed here were 6 (the pdf and one other is missing)

and also i don't have the american date type how to change it to american? i mean i dont have am/pm...
why the date relationship was not created automatically?
I noticed mine didnt create automatically too. I had to manually create it. Hope you were able to figure that out too.

I am convinced that Indian tech youtubers teaches far better than this.
