The ring at the end of the harmony, gorgeous.

I completely agree! .... and I noticed that the ascent occurs on "sheriff john stone" so that the descent can capture the utter desperation of "why don't you let me go home"

There you have it, folks. A graduate seminar in structure, tone, and harmony, as taught by Professor Brian Wilson. In ten thousand years, when humanity moves out into the stars, they'll still be holding symposiums on this.

0:53 Someone in there said "break up" and not "broke up". Did you catch it?

@@PhantomPanic You do know that the Beach Boys didn't write Sloop John B right? It's a Bahamian folk song

does one of them sing "break up" at around :55? Carl perhaps?

It's probably Al Jardine since he presented this song to Brian from The Kingston Trio, which sang "break up" instead of "broke up"

The Beach Boys are an American rock band formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. The group's original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. Distinguished by their vocal harmonies, adolescent-oriented lyrics, and musical ingenuity, they are one of the most influential acts of the rock era. 🥁🎺🎷🎸🎶❤️
