For me John Cazale was the most underrated actor of all time. Every movie he was in he was phenomenal and he was only in 5 films. Also every film he was in was nominated for Best Picture and yet there was not a single film in his catalogue where he was nominated for an Oscar. John Cazale was so great that even when he wasn’t speaking during a scene you could automatically tell what he was thinking and feeling just by his facial expressions that is the sign of a phenomenal actor.
Fantastic video! Cazale was in five movies and everyone of them was a hit. That's no coincidence. To me, it's just amazing to see Al and John as "Michael and Fredo", and then a few years later see them as, "Sony and Sal." ...So believable in both.
This is one of the best reviews of an actor , for as long as I have been a film buff I have known how talented, skilled and respected John Cazale is, but you broke everything down with dead on insight, hats off!
He was an incredible actor. Shame he died so young. We can only imagine what he would have done in the following decades. Perhaps he would have been nominated for an Academy Award or two, maybe even win one. Sort of surprising he wasn’t nominated for an Oscar for either The Godfather: Part II or Dog Day Afternoon, though with Godfather II, there were three actors up for Best Supporting Actor, so Dog Day Afternoon would have been the best chance for him to have gotten nominated in his lifetime. Great video man, keep up the great work!
Everytime somebody asks me who my favorite actor is, I don't expect people to know John Casale by name, so I just say, the dude who played Fredo in the Godfather. RIP the goat.
It's always nice to see a new video about great John Cazale. Btw. 9:15... it's still creepy in a way, whenever I watch the scene in which his character explains why he doesn't smoke
Damn good work! Have you ever considered revoicing classic movie trailers? That would be outta this world. I consider you easily one of the best narrators on UA-cam.
I suppose in some ways that is what we already do. We have "obstructions" to how we design our videos - the biggest one being that we try to only use things like trailers or press material to keep the videos free from copyright breaches as best as we can. Often our shorter projects do end up being "Survey Trailers" that are simply re-edits of available material with additional context supplied in the narration. Ideally we are working toward building a very large "curated" collection of all kinds of media that you can essentially be assured will be good or great no matter what you choose. It is a difficult balancing act of trying to please people who may know a great deal about a particular piece, or may know nothing at all, but we do our best to strike that balance to create a channel that provides more of a service rather than just repurposed content.
Anyone who saw the movie---Dog Day Afternoon could tell that John Cazale was ill with cancer----In fact, he spoke of it in a conversation with the bank head teller...!
What a career he would have had ahead of him. He would have been a Bond villain, probably a villain in several movies. He could have been Uncle Junior in the Sopranos (not at all to denigrate Dominic Chianese - just an example of some of the great roles he could have been in).
It's old music from Toonami! Prior to the "Aftermath" line up and release of the aftermath mixtape, short versions of some toonami tracks were released as ringtones on their site. You can find them and more on archive dot org by searching for "toonami music" or "toonami aftermath mixtape" assuming it is still there.
Very under-appreciated actor. I know this is petty, but I have to point out that he actually pronounced his name with a short A vowel, rhyming with “Al” or “pal.”
Wyoming
😉I’m smart! Not dumb, like everyone says. I’m smart!
I'm glad someone is covering this amazing ator.

This robot knows a lot about John Cazale.
A much long overdue tribute.
Thank you!
Amazing talent 👏

I think of the state of Wyoming
5 films most actors spend decades and don't achieve what John brought to those
5 amazing films.
He is great!

I always knew he was so underrated 5 films all nominated!
Great focus on each of these five seminal films.
Your editing style is unique 👍🏼
Gone too soon.....the guy was a talent

Great video!...Dog Day Afternoon is my favorite movie..What country you want to go to?..He was so good
RIP John
Bravo. These longer format videos are definitely worth waiting a few extra days for. I could draw and write all day listening to these…
Everytime somebody asks me who my favorite actor is, I don't expect people to know John Casale by name, so I just say, the dude who played Fredo in the Godfather. RIP the goat.
Wow, this was really good treatment of the subject matter. Thanks for making this.
It's always nice to see a new video about great John Cazale.
Btw. 9:15... it's still creepy in a way, whenever I watch the scene in which his character explains why he doesn't smoke
I believe he was the greatest actor ever
I had always wondered why he wasn't in more movies. I didn't know he died young, crazy.
He was brilliant! Sadly a great career cut short. 😢
Great…

Wow. That was DEEP!👍🏼
THE best actor in film history, no viable argument against it, and I can prove this on a water-logged etch-a-sketch.
Anyone who saw the movie---Dog Day Afternoon could tell that John Cazale was ill with cancer----In fact, he spoke of it in a conversation with the bank head teller...!
Hopefully more people begin commenting. These videos should be getting much more attention and cause more discussion in comments.
I want to watch this film with Hackman

Great. I like the music in its own right. May be too interesting to use with voice over narration. Who made the music? Where can i buy a copy?

@@hekacollective Thank you!
The music is grating and distracting and has nothing to with the video. Otherwise very insightful!
The Deer Hunter was great
Very under-appreciated actor. I know this is petty, but I have to point out that he actually pronounced his name with a short A vowel, rhyming with “Al” or “pal.”
John Kuh-zhal-ee
Are you the voice of Company of Heroes narrator ( Steve Blum ) ? you either him or you have the same voice
Not Steve Blum unfortunately, just a huge fan biting his style 😅.
I was not aware that WYOMING was a foreign country...!
I've always heard his name pronounced Caz-al, not Ca-zail.
As a musician, I am quite frequently appalled by the total crap placed in the sound track.
Hated him. Died after Deer Hunter
beyond amazing..what we lost when we lost him is enormous...
