This is my first time owning fancies and videos like this are so valuable to me! I came here bc of the gorgeous chubby baby in the thumbnail and stayed for the goldie wisdom
Wow! It was so informative. Thank you for sharing. Great video. I love gold fishes. I will Make a trip to visit James. Oh. You didn’t ask price range. 🤣
Beautiful fishes ! Gave up keeping them long time ago as they are very labor intensive, they always (and the water) need to kept close attention for problems/issues. Switch to arowana much much eaiser (as I regularly travel overseas). Seeing this video makes me have thoughts of want to play again, but the thought of all that hard work again nah better not. Maybe next time.
Nice fishes that's great n for sharing video n hope to see more RANZHU calico soon n that's would be awesome 👍. How to reach location,is there any public transport buses 🚌🤷♂️?
Escurecimento do corpo pode ser stress ou é algum problema de saude? Tenho um peixe Ranchu Kinguio. Que esta escura no ventre e cauda o que pode ser? Agua com bons parâmetros.
I'm not sure if the tiger barbs are big enough to avoid being eaten when the senegal bichir gets to full size. I think a full grown tiger barb is right on the edge of fitting into a full sized bichirs mouth.
I'm sure you will wake up one day with minus one tiger barb. If the bichir is small then you will be fine, but by the time he's a juvenile then he will start getting a little aggressive. However, how big is the tank? If you have a very large tank with lots of things it would be interesting. But the rule that always goes is big fish eat little fish.
From my conversations with James (i edited that part out cause i thought it might be too dry), I think goldfish are more sensitive to water parameters. And depending on which farm they come from, they have to be acclimatized and quarantined accordingly. However many aquariums are focused on turnover and sell the fish immediately after they receive it. Hence they still look ok at the shop and develop problems when the hobbyist has taken over. I can't say this is definitely true or not but it makes sense to me and given his intensive quarantine and acclimation process for goldfish especially from China, I'm inclined to buy into this rationale.
the Temperature. If you keep your Goldfish at higher temperatures 27°C-25°C, their digestive system (which is linked to the swim bladder) works much better, and can offer heavy doses of food at all times. If you try to do this on a fish in cold water, even with little food, the food is all "stagnant" in their digestive system, causing much more swimming problems.
From what I've gathered reading journal articles, bacteria population can change over time and it is random. Especially when there is alot of organic matter accumulated, heterotrophic bacteria that feeds on carbon sources will boom. Along the same principle, in ponds that are not drained and cleaned, resulting in much gunk accumulated at the bottom, a disease outbreak tends to happen (but we are talking about 3-4 years in this case). Therefore dosing of probiotic bacteria is advocated, as they are found to keep pathogenic bacteria at bay.
Teddy, unfortunately I don't know of any scientific literature on this. I find it very interesting to speak to old school experienced fish keepers, farmers and store owners because many a times they explain something that is in agreement of scientific literature but from a different basis/reasoning. And sometimes research have not caught up to their experiences to be able to explain it. I'm sure there will also be instances where they are wrong/not optimal. That said, that fish guy as commented above seems to have come across evidence in agreement to this.

Ashley can i keep tiger barb, senegal bichir and pleoco together do you think they will live peacefully?

Goldfish always prone to bladder disease (floating upside down). Wonder how people can keep their goldfish so big. Is there a secret to it?

As for size, bloodline is one of the biggest factors. Followed by size of the tank they are kept in.
Maybe there's also some issues with the food you feed it with
the Temperature.
Lots of vegetable matter helps with there digestive system also warm water to keep the metabolism high
I wish he had a website and sold to the US 😢

Ashley, in this video, James mentioned that bacteria in filtration can turn from good to bad, do you know any scientific evidence for this?
From what I've gathered reading journal articles, bacteria population can change over time and it is random. Especially when there is alot of organic matter accumulated, heterotrophic bacteria that feeds on carbon sources will boom. Along the same principle, in ponds that are not drained and cleaned, resulting in much gunk accumulated at the bottom, a disease outbreak tends to happen (but we are talking about 3-4 years in this case).
