Both he and his brother deserve to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. During their prime the Rougeau Brothers were fun to watch. They were technicians and high flyers and had a great charisma. Their timing was outstanding and they could freaking move quickly. Jacques could go in 3 times and Raymond 2 times. They were good to watch. Very clean maneuvers and great talkers. What an outstanding, underrated tag team!!!
Jacques has been one of the best guests you’ve had thus far. Great stories!
He genuinely seems like a really likeable person! I'm super proud of him for putting dynamite kid in his place! Bullies are cowards!
Curt Hennig stirred that up by ribbing the Bulldogs and telling Dynamite that that Jacques did it.
@@MB-oc1nw dynamite was still a coward and a shit.
😂 I think the guy who sucker punched someone with a weapon is a coward 😂 bad news story seemed like they were going to jump him. This guy's a joke
@@Nick-ui3rh so, you’re ok with Dynamite throwing a sucker punch, but not when he gets on back 🤔interesting.
@@MiningForPies he was lied to by hennig. Jacques a dummy for bragging about it over and over. The way bad news told it they were going to try to jump him. This guy's a joke and he talks like this was his big claim to fame...sucker punching someone with a role of quarters and trying to jump them. He's a goof
I met Jacques in 92 93 when he was the Mountie at the time he had a feud with bossman met him in new haven, Connecticut. Very nice he gave us his autograph and took a polaroid with me and my younger brothers
Jacques and Raymond Rougeau were like super heroes in Montréal 🇨🇦💯🧨
Really underrated.
Great on the mic, sense of humor, and raw talent.
Should have got much more money and titles then he did.
just finished watching the Go to Jail match the other day.
You should have won an Oscar, brilliant.
He was great but he was french and lots of racist at that time.
Class act. Well spoken, and very level headed. Can stay that with many of the boys from his era.
We used to get International Wrestling weekly on Toronto television, on a different channel than the WWF. Then one week, it was the same episode as the week before. The following week, the same episode. Then it wasn't on any more. The death of a territory with no explanation to the viewer.
Sunday afternoons on Channel 47 ... I geeked out when they signed David Schultz because I was a huge Dr. D fan. Vince winning is all tied into accessing the larger arenas and making sure he was the only promotion who had access to them. Once he got into the Forum all bets were off. Were you a fan when we had the NWA in Toronto. I didn't start watching until just before the first mania and missed it but I bet Vince bribed Ballard a bit to have exclusive rights to MLG.
Once International Wrestling switched partners, from the AWA to the WWF, and once Vince finished looting IW of talent (Dino Bravo, King Tonga and the Rougeau Brothers), it was the beginning of the end. The final nail in the coffin for me was when Milt Avruskin left and CFCF-TV's sports director, Ron Francis, began pre-recording audio commentary for the matches. He knew nothing about pro wrestling and cared even less.
In Windsor, International Wrestling ran late Saturday nights on Channel 9. When they folded, the channel began showing a Canadian-produced AWA TV show. (This was at the time when Curt Hennig was the champion.) Milt Avruskin and Cowboy Trey Travis were the commentators, but surprisingly, Milt turned heel! I was so happy, because now I could see all 3 of the major wrestling promotions.
Monsters Gorillas and Freaks😹. He summed up the early WWWF beautifully
Really light-hearted interview. Love Jacques' character.
Nice job, keep up the good work. I enjoy your interviews more then hannibals
He's so uncool, he's cooL 😹😂🤣😭
Everybody thinks about Canada you get the harts, but what about the rougeaus!
Great video ..for some reason I always thought the Rougeaus were a part of the Montreal ownership group many thanks for clearing this up. Hes not wrong about Martel and Bravo pushing themselves . They brought in the Road Warriors and guess who faced the LOD .
I figured the exact same thing, so I was surprised he was basically under the thumb of Dino!
@@WSI we got International Wrestling towards the end of its run on Toronto TV. It was a very good territory . They always mentioned Gino Brito on TV as the promoter but I was sure they mentioned Rougeau SR in the ownership group ...maybe this was just a TV thing to appease the Montreal fans. Keep up the great work ...your interviews are way better than Hannibals and just as good as Cornettes podcast but thankfully a lot more light hearted and less negative. Keep up the great work . 👍
@@johngallagher72 thanks matey, shall do and hopefully adding more in the new year!
Well it's not like Martel and Bravo were a couple of ham-and-eggers undeservingly putting themselves with top talent though either...
@@josheisert8380 Exactly, I won't dispute the bad business decision of putting the young Rougeaus on last against tomato cans in dead matches in non main events in front of crowds long dead because guys like Rick Martel were already out of the building by the time The Rougeaus were wrestling against The Masked Yukon Executioner and Sunny War Cloud lol.
I could listen to the Mountie for hours..I’ll admit I hated him when I was a kid and when he used to zap the big boss man with the cattle prod lol. But it’s great to hear these stories
I used to get a giggle from the little American Flags the Rougeau Boys waved .
I so hated this guy when I was a kid! He did his job well :)
Ur a great interviewer you don't speak so soft and slow where it takes you a few times to watch cause u fell asleep or couldn't hear the questions. Lol not mentioning no names...Hannibal. Oops I guess I did
Hannibal is the worst lol
Hannibal is the Ben Stein of wrestling interviewers. The guy wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't so God damn monotone. I'd rather listen to paint drying
thats right first time in montreal at the verdun auditorium
Yeah ,I was the limousine driver who use to pick them up at La Guardia,Damian.
He always gets his man's n thems!
This is can old school lesson in playing hard to get. It takes time.
I loved The Amazing French Canadians gimmick . I was pissed when I heard they jetted back to Quebec because of creative difference
This is great!!
Great video ty
The mountie remember him well,,had a great run in wwf, vince took care of the canadian wrestlers well, the harts, the rougeaus, patterson, the vachons, etc,..
Loved the Quebecers and Mountie character! I find it hilarious that the "real" Mounties BANNED his character in Canada, and couldn't wrestle as the Mountie.
I like to hear about the inside business of wrestling.
I like Jacques.
The Mountie Uniform still fits well Jacque!!!
I always wanted him to get his arse kicked every week I watched! Even if he wasn't on the card, I always hoped Jacque would come down and interfere then get his French Canadian arse beat!
That's heat!!
It's not merchant value, marquee value is the word he was reaching for.
Second language ☺️
in french it's: valeur marchande
I get it...nice job Jacques.
Fantastic interview. 💯🔥🔥♥️
Sums it up correctly look out for yourself especially when it comes to wrestling.... like Mad Dog Vachon said it's a dog-eat-dog world! 😇👍
I always liked Jacques Rougeau.
Wrestling at the centre paul sauvé
Did this guy get along with anyone? lol
I never was a fan of Jac,long before wwf.he was in south eastern championship wrestling.love it when Jos leduc. Beat his ass.
The WWF was Juice Central ....There were 30 extra magicalky appearing muscles on everyone there .
i'd pay an arm and a leg to get the entire collection of french TV broadcasts from Lutte Internationale I used to watch it as a kid. The show was called Les Etoiles de la Lutte, they had Edouard Carpentier and Guy Hauray doing the commentary. (eventually the WWF ended up buying the TV slot, put up a show with a very similar name, and hired Carpentier, Hauray, the rougeau brothers, Rick Martel, and other people, and that was kind of the end for Lutte Internationale. I also heard, i don't know if its true, that vince went and made a deal with the Centre Paul Sauve to have his shows there like once a month, basically running the other show out the venue. Believe it or not, Montreal as a wrestling territory was doing pretty good, and vince wanted it, and he got it)
And yes, hes 100% correct, the rougeaus were a bigger name in quebec than dino bravo. Mostly because of their father and uncle, but still.. definitely they rougeau brothers were hometown heroes. I don't think many people in quebec didn't know jacques and raymond rougeau in the 80s Even before they went to the WWF
Jacques looks like David lee roth
Try watching Hogans Heroes. He looks like Col. Klink
I mean that explains why Dino was not too friendly with Jacques when they were both in the WWF. Cause Jacques sort of stabbed them in the back when he went to the WWF. After that Martel sold the Quebec territory and they were done.
👍👍👍
Boy that Jacques had big melon head!!!
Jacques Rougeau #mountiehof
Lol @ 8:11the Mountie having a senior moment.
If you live long enough you will get on yourself, Joe.
@@gopherstate777 And when that time comes someone will laugh at me. Right now it's my time to laugh.
One of the best things that could happen to this country, is for Vince McMahon to simply go away.
It's just pro wrestling.
I mean, we all know what happened to Dino.........
No promoter is gonna elevate a talent higher than themselves . Its bad business .
I was so bummed that The Amazing French Canadians left WCW . I was excited to see something other than watered down NWO .
cable tv did the territories in more than vince
Dino Stooge-o
Use to love watching his matches
