To me, Gary Clark is a Hall of Famer. 100%. 2x Super Bowl champ. 4x Pro Bowler. 3x All-Pro. 10,000+ yards receiving, 65 TDs, 5 1000-yard receiving seasons, 10-4 record in the playoffs, 58 receptions + 850 yards/scrimmage + 6 TDs in the playoffs, 169 yards receiving + 2 TDs in 2 Super Bowls. Played in 167 out of 172 regular season games + all 14 playoff games (i.e., never missed more than 2 games in a season).
I agree COMPLETELY! Clark is my favorite all-time Redskin! Also, I'm impressed with your encyclopedic knowledge of Gary Clark's career. Wow! This youtube channel is really for guys like YOU! 😄🏈
Absolutely. It's only because the national sports press hates the Redskins that he's not in. The Bills who lost four straight Super Bowls have two WRs in the Hall: Reed and Lofton. A team that played in four Super Bowls and won three and competed for the Division for twelve seasons deserves to have two WRs in the Hall, and Clark deserves it based on his play.
That's how good the Redskins were that season. Imagine you hadn't beaten the Giants since 1987. You had lost 6 straight to them and it looked like it was going to be 7 straight, but the second half was a different story. Gary Clark who dropped 2 touchdowns came back with 2 touchdowns. The defense holding the team together until the offense woke up. That's what made the team different was they could come from behind, they could destroy a team, and could have a lot of luck (Houston game with that short field goal miss). This was the best Redskin team even better than the 1983 team.
I remember this game well. I was only 13 years old. That whole season was magical. It was a great time to be a Redskins fan. When Clark caught that bomb to give us the lead i went absolutely crazy. I was running through the house, jumping up and down yelling in celebration. My parents thought i was an absolute psycho. I took those games to heart every single week.
Monk was a stat padder, NYC based national media jerks like Paul Zimmerman (SI's Dr. Z) used to say. Monk's catch at the 11:44 mark against the defending SB Champs in a season in which his team would go on to win the SB puts the b.s. lie to that claim
I remember yelling at the TV when Wilbur Marshall latteraled the ball when all he had to do was kneel down at the end of the game. "Just go down, you idiot!". LOL
I’m Giants fan and I remember this game. The Giants had their number until this game. This was a big hurdle for that team. Once they beat us they honestly (other than two fluke like losses). Ran through the competition that year. I always remember how the eagles had the giants number back then but we had Washington’s number and the skins has Philly’s number lol
I've always felt that Skins and Giants would have won more SB's but they beat each other up (+ Dallas & Philly were pretty tough), while SF walked to home field advantage..!
@@escaped1534 good point. In the 80’s any time the Giants got the niners at home in the playoffs they hammered them them. The one time the skins hosted them in the 83 nfc champ they beat them. Actually the only home playoff loss I recall for Washington was that divisional game in 84 against the Bears
Great deep throw by Rypien at 9:30. Gary Clark redeemed himself after the dropped deep bomb in the second quarter. I think this was the best regular season win for Washington that Super Bowl season considering they had lost to the NY Giants 6 consecutive times. After being fortunate enough to squeak by the Oilers the following week in OT, I knew it was the Redskins' year and they would go on to win the Super Bowl. This game aired at the same time as game 7 of the World Series between the Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins which had a dramatic finish. So, I kept switching from this game to the World Series. It was quite an intense night.😀
This was the game for me when I knew they would win the Super Bowl. Later in the season when they lost to the Cowboys at home, one of my college buddies (I was a junior at JMU in '91) called me to give me a hard time. I remember telling him, "Okay, call me after the Super Bowl." After this win against the Giants, I knew they had it.
Skins last Super bowl year,,, remember watching this game at a Bar-- just knowing they were going to come back-- and from early 80s to mid 90s every NFC east game was a brawl,,, best dvision in NFC for a decade or so
Same night as the legendary World Series Game 7 between the Twins and Braves Joe Theismann famously said “Stay with us, folks. Nothing will happen in the World Series until at least the seventh inning”
1991 was my favorite team just heard them call my uncle Danny Copeland we went to super bowl I was there Green is my favorite skin super nice to me I was 11 years old now we suck I almost broke my cell phone eagle game watching Mr Barkley great running back crush my commander’s 😂
I tell you what......had we lost this game....I don't believe we win the Super Bowl. The Giants were a hurdle we HAD to get across after 6 straight losses to them. We lose that....who knows how it would've affected the team. #HTTRedskins4LIFE
The Commanders fans watching this just feel the pain of how poor this team has been since those days. Hopefully once Snyder sells the team they will return, they should make the playoffs this season.
When it came to second half adjustments Joe Gibbs was a wizard 🧙♂️ 💯
This was the greatest Redskins team in their entire history.
This was the greatest team in NFL History actually. Most complete team of all time
Nah the 82, 83 teams were better
The 2024 redskins will be better

I am a Giants fan. But that dude was a football player and belongs in the HOF!!
Yup, and played hurt as fuck...

I agree 💯 percent. I've been saying for years.
The 91 team was my favorite team such a well balanced team not one weak spot. Memories I will always treasure.
Best team overall that ever won a superbowl real talk
Them damn Giants were SO hard to beat! Hail to the Redskins!

Mark Rypien was totally in the zone in 1991 - he threw TD bomb after TD bomb after TD bomb after TD bomb, it was ridiculous
All my dad talks about .."those long pass".😁
I once read that what was crazy and unique was that he was a more accurate passer throwing long distance than short.
@ 9:30 What a beautiful BOMB of a TD pass by Mark Rypien and catch by Gary Clark. Just a perfect play to finally get the lead on the Giants.
9:33
On third and long
Rypien throws a touchdown pass to Clark (84)

Redskins lost 2 games by 5 points this year 5 points away from a perfect season
To me football semmed more rreal more like a game back then then now

I remember that too, switching between both games. And there was no DVR, so you could only record one completely.

This is the game after which I KNEW the Redskins were going to win the Super Bowl
Wow. Watching this I had forgotten how good that 91 Redskin team was. And Mark Rypen was a beast that year!
The best team ever to win a championship
Not, see 92' Cowboys
Skins last Super bowl year,,, remember watching this game at a Bar-- just knowing they were going to come back-- and from early 80s to mid 90s every NFC east game was a brawl,,, best dvision in NFC for a decade or so
Wilbur Marshall was a beast that year. He was a beast in the Super Bowl too!
Those were the days
Sprint Bomb is probably my second favorite Redskin play of all-time, right after 70 Chip.
The game shouldn't have been that close. Gary Clark should've had 3 touchdowns.
Same night as the legendary World Series Game 7 between the Twins and Braves
Joe Theismann famously said “Stay with us, folks. Nothing will happen in the World Series until at least the seventh inning”
He was right…
@@RetroSkins "Nothing" - That game had everyone in suspense because if a team scored, that team would win. It was like watching a soccer match.
The jerseys of this time look 👀 better than the ones of today
I don't know how many players have won Super Bowls with 3 different teams. But Millen has to be one of the select few.
91 redskins were a very good team
Where was LT?
Meggett looking like Barry Sanders out there.
1991 was my favorite team just heard them call my uncle Danny Copeland we went to super bowl I was there Green is my favorite skin super nice to me I was 11 years old now we suck I almost broke my cell phone eagle game watching Mr Barkley great running back crush my commander’s 😂
IF ONLY Washington had a team like this , these days !
Big win for this Redskin team given their lack of success against the GMen.
I tell you what......had we lost this game....I don't believe we win the Super Bowl. The Giants were a hurdle we HAD to get across after 6 straight losses to them. We lose that....who knows how it would've affected the team. #HTTRedskins4LIFE
It wasn't the same Giants team without Parcells and Belichick.
I think i watched every washington game that yr.. except this 1..
"This kid has quite a future"
Well, at least through the Super Bowl...after that, not so much.
The Commanders fans watching this just feel the pain of how poor this team has been since those days.
Hopefully once Snyder sells the team they will return, they should make the playoffs this season.
I don’t understand, why no teams want to make a O Line anymore and run the ball!
Redskins forever
Oh the good old days of Hogs, my poor team who have since succumbed to wokeism in the capital of Wokeistan.
U mean polishiters all of them on cocaine and line there pockets with money
I swear Irvins and Patterson are one in the same thirty years removed...
