  • Finally starting the dump truck build for our homestead. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm ready to learn. Check it out as I use my old Ford 555 backhoe to remove this old dump bed off of this F350.

The light! The light! Crunch! 😊…it was probably time to scrap anyway. Thanks Mike - for me a daunting project and I can see for a lot of people after an initial burst of enthusiasm it would probably sit in limbo for years, but you’ll get it done and have a useful machine. Thanks Mike!😊

That said, always good stuff much appreciated. Thank you for posting and glad to see the 555 doing sterling work.

I like how you think through the options “out loud” with us. If you can convert the existing rear end into enough cash that goes towards a super duty rear end, that will make you happy. That said, if you have enough confidence in the existing one (based on all inputs) and decide to “roll the dice”, I’m down for that too. Either way it’s a journey worth taking for us. You somehow make the mistakes and failures into learning experiences that we all get value from. It. Is…..one of the reasons why we watch you 👊💪

Bump the starter it's running, and it'll haul more dirt than you can put on it. Go with the super duty rear end, you'll be happy you did! Another awesome video, although you cost me some money! I'm gunna have to get me a plasma cutter - for all the reasons you listed. Thanks! Lee

Nice new plasma cutter, way to go!!! Just need a lot of volume of air and torch tip needs to be almost touching the metal. Travel speed depends on seeing the slag blowing out the bottom, as soon as that starts to quit happening, you need to slow down. That’s what I learned and I’m excited for this new experience for you.

The folks at mill supply were awesome getting me all the parts i couldn't get in Canada for my f550 dump truck rebuild. Love❤ the channel . Any parts that you anticipate removal, scrub the threads with a wire brush on a drill & soak in penetrating oil. Fabricate your panels Before you cut the old rusty ones out. Having a reference for size & shape is everything. In the end all your hard work is totally worth it.

Glad to see Vevor to the rescue. Glad they got you a plasma cutter. I may be repeating myself, sorry if so. Had a coworker who’s dad always wanted a plasma cutter so he bought one with nothing better to do. Ended up making a new career out of it. He had the proper licensing to empty and recover gas from old propane and refrigerant cylinders. Got an old trailer and started getting paid to take all the cylinders off of the areas townships that they collected during rubbish pickup. Emptied the cylinders properly and made them safe. Then cut them into chunks for scrap recycling. Apparently not many people want to bother with getting the proper instructions and licensing so they accumulate large stockpiles. Started making more part time then he did before retirement. Suspecting you could make some interesting videos doing the same while seeing what you can recover and reuse. Along with making some extra cash for projects. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Wishing you and your family the best,
