I am with you…. Honestly some new parts are worse than good used, plus ship time and cost etc it I can fix it on the spot while there I will every time. Would have been at least 2-3 days downtime ordering..plus $280 or so… I mowed all day today no issues still charging great. So I feel they will hold. Honestly I’m more concerned about the ones I didn’t reglue more than ones I did
When I bought my Walker new a year-and-a-half ago they showed me when checking the oil that you put the dipstick back in and screw it counterclockwise about a half a turn and it will drop down about a quarter inch, then you will have a proper reading.
Awesome man! Congrats on the rebuild. Always better to do it yourself. Kubota dealer wanted 1200$ for a simple fix of a bent push tube on a Kohler ch23. Put a complete head, valve guides, valves all that and a re seal kit for the entire engine for like 300$. I love my walker too!
It’s process of elimination to test it…. If you are getting proper ac volts about 36 or so on the 2 outer terminals and you get dc battery power higher than the voltage of the battery itself on the middle terminal when running the rectifier works….. if you don’t have ac at the outer terminals around 36 your stator isn’t working.
I got it with blown head gasket, it was leaking into freeze into cylinder…. My local dealer put new head gasket in by the book and it still leaked I bought it for $1000 with many good new parts on it when all I was really looking for was a hopper….. I then took it apart did my best to check the head ane resurface on glass with fine paper etc really took my time and it still did same…. I believe the block must be warped or cracked … regardless I had so little into it and it had so many parts good I sold the deck ane many parts and used many ended up getting a good $4000 in value out of it… and still like in this video picking off it saving me $
I really enjoy watching people make things work instead of just replacing parts

You're lucky that magnet didn't poke a hole in the block. I've seen that happen twice recently.
How did you test the rectifier

...REALLY surprised that those magnets came off with the press....Good to know...
That's $250 savings towards the press cost.
Would heat remove the magnets? It might softed the Adhesive.
Seems they just come lose over time
how come you ended up tearing down the 31 hp machine?
