Thank you for explaining it. I am here because I just went to get replacement blades for my Andis styliner 2 and found out that it has been discontinued. I have been using it to shave my face and now I know to get the original t-liner to replace it.
GtX be hitting!!! The only thing I've used since coming out with them. But remember it's the barber that knows how to use his tools (pause), can use anything.
Really you dont know the main difference? It is the motor, t-outliner works with 10 watts and the GTX works with 12 watts thats why it feels more powerful and have a 3 prong plug, the GTX that comes in combo it also have the 10 watts motor and regular 2 prong cable you can say its a "black toutliner with gtx blade"
Great video! Question - I owned a GTX for 5 years, awesome clippers, wire had wear and tear and they pretty much stopped working great anyway so I just purchased the Andis T Outliner anyway my question is, can I put my GTX blade on the T Outliner?
Yeah,..., I tried to get fancy and got the GTX (when the Styliner II replacement blades were no longer available) because, in theory, it sounds better than the original but, IN PRACTICE, I am very grateful that the original T Outliner blades fit the GTX because the GTX blades TORE MY FACE UP. It pulls, alright, but there are a few random hairs that it pulls and does not cut so it snags, causing cuts, as it passes. I got so many pustules and ingrown hai, from it that it was routine to have to go over my face with tweezers. The cut marks built up, over time. I don't have a lot of money so, I was waiting to get the original. When I found out the blades are interchangeable, I rushed and got them. Once I adjusted the blades, it was like coming home again! My face is healing. I would NOT recomend the GTX blades.
I think the original has a hard time with soft downy hair, especially blond hair, it seems to just push it down. I moved to the Detailer and the Beret for that. But the Outliners last years.
I gotta say, thank you. Your review plus some of the comments below allowed me to make up my mind on the GTX. I just want something good to line up and sculpt my thick beard.
Which is more reliable, the rotary or magnetic motor? Which gets less hot? Looking for my Dad. He has fine hair and he needs something that cleans bald the back of his neckline area up to the middle back of his head. Thanks!
Whats difference between the other corded andis t outliner it’s grey looks identical to the grey one in your vid but has a symbol in the middle it’s corded but yea
which blade is the thinnest between the GTX, blackout blade and the regular t outliner blade? Which one is the sharpest as well or the best blade just for outlining and edge ups?
Thanks for watching and make sure you subscribe! So I also have sensitive skin when it comes to close a shave but what I have been using is a brand called Harry’s it’s a five blade razor that is engineered in Germany so it’s very close but it doesn’t irritate my skin or you can try using the Wahl five star Finale shaver it don’t seem to cause irritation for most of my clients that also has sensitive skin around the face give it a shot and let me know.
Bro...you do not need to waste your money on 5 blade cartridge razors. ALL you need is a double edge safety razor and a Andis T Outliner. Shave with the T outliner then use the double edge safety razor. The blazes for the safety razor are like 12$ for 100 blades bro...you can not beat the price nor the shave. And it helps fight bumps. The only thing you'll have to get use to is that safety razors do not have swivel heads that bend. So when you shave you'll need a steady hand and keep the bade angled proper. Despite the name safety razor you will still cut yourself really bad if you don't know how to shave. 1 blade lasts 1 shave. So if you shave daily you spend under 40$ a year on blades. My Andis Go shaves my beard bald though so I only use the safety razor on my head. Im African American and was really prone to bumps. I remember the first time I shaved my head in basic training with a 5 blade razor my face and head bumped up like a crunch a bunch. I never shaved again with a razor for 4 years. Then my hairline started receding so I had to start using a razor again. I learned that 5 blade junk cuts the hair too low and causes bumps. I got a double edge safety razor my head hasn't bumped up once in 2 years shaving it bald. My face and neck get the occasional 2 or 3 ingrowns. But not 10 or 20 like before. Last bit...if you want to avoid bumps its not just the blade...you need good after care bro. Use witch hazel instead of alcohol and get a nice natural beard oil that has grape seed oil. Or use something with tea trea oil in it wash you face before and after you shave..this isnt about dirt..this is about keeping your skin soft enough for the hair to not get trapped under it.
Good job Kirk. I definitely need to look into that GTX for my beard. The small tooth blades are great for beard egdes. But when I try to knock it down some, I'm constantly going over it. Now I know why.
Great review, straight to the point my man and I subscribed. Question: WIll the T-outliner still cut closer if I plan on using it on my head (very short hair) as I would a clipper, meaning an upward motion (with the power button facing up) and not a downward motion like I would for trimming
Chris_cut_it_OTB Thanks for the comment bro, stay tuned to the channel and make sure you subscribe because that video is coming out really soon. I will explain it all in that video and a few other tricks!!!
Thanks for the great comparison. I’ve been using the T Outliner to dry shave my neck and head (baldy here) and have gone through two of them and countless blades. The hair I have left is thick/coarse. Based on your video, I’m now considering the GTX. I own the BGR+ and have swapped out its stock blade with both an outliner and a 00000 blade, but the BGR+ is so much slower than the T Outliner that I find myself frustrated and not using it as much. If you could please confirm that the GTX is just as close / great at a dry shave for neck and head, I’ll snag one to replace my recently dropped T Outliner. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching and providing me with your alternatives that you’ve used so it can assist with a clear recommendation. YES the black Andis T-Outliner GTO’s (GTX Blades) are just as good as the Outliners with the standard blades. Thanks again for your genuine support.
Jeffrey D do you make sure to oil them after and before every use? Could need to be modified to. Usually when mine pull. Its always 1 of those 2 issues.
Once you swtched the blades you might have to readjust the tention placment so that they get the right tention I dropped mines after that they never cut the same would snag cut hair off slow to where I had to keep going over spots. Watch this video ua-cam.com/video/wtikmlEL1n8/v-deo.html. This helped me get mines working better than they did at first.
Does anybody know the difference between the recent release of the WLM replacement blade for the GTX clipper and the standard replacement blade they used to sell
First Flight Barbers I definitely appreciate the response and informative answer. I couldn’t find a response anywhere so definitely get the WLM blade correct? Also, do they fit on traditional T-Outliners and The wireless ones. Thanks in advance.
Thanks you so much for your support! For home use I would say check out the Wahl Mobile Shaver on Amazon @ rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192446534180

U a true MVP
Thank you!!! You are a saint
Thanks
I been using the t outliner for YEARS and I must say that the GTX(deep tooth)blades works better than the traditional blade period!!
Thank you, that's what I came here for.
How so?
Thank you for explaining it. I am here because I just went to get replacement blades for my Andis styliner 2 and found out that it has been discontinued. I have been using it to shave my face and now I know to get the original t-liner to replace it.
Appreciate the support
I ended up getting the GTX. I'm glad I did. Your video helped.
@@JasonBentleyJones did you have to zero gap it at all or did they come pretty good out of the box?
I know it’s 2 years late, but you can still find the original blades in some stores, online, and on eBay unused.
Had my Gtx for 9 yrs
no problems
sprayed them every time I cut it
Today I purchased the GTX and the gap tool for the purpose of cutting straight, crisp, clean looking lines when lining up sideburns.
GtX be hitting!!!
The only thing I've used since coming out with them.
But remember it's the barber that knows how to use his tools (pause), can use anything.
Agreed!
Thank you for helping me understand the difference in clippers. Appreciate you fam. 🙏🏽
its not spins per minute (spm) its strokes per minute since its a magnetic blade it moves side to side.
You are correct and thanks for the clarification!
Really you dont know the main difference? Thanks for watching and hopefully subscribing! The answer to your question is a solid YES you sure can and you will love the GTX blade a lot better...
Yes
Thank you for explaining this. Huge help
Been looking for this explained correctly!
🙌
We’re glad this video helped educate you.
Any update on the video on how to modify your outliners to become chord less how you have them?
Yes sir here’s the follow up video that works for them all ua-cam.com/video/Ou0rRHsy2k4/v-deo.html

Do you notice the difference in closeness. Which if any cuts closer?
Gtx always felt like it had more power than the orginal t outliner. I had both. Maybe because of the 3 prong cord.
I gotta say, thank you. Your review plus some of the comments below allowed me to make up my mind on the GTX. I just want something good to line up and sculpt my thick beard.
My pleasure and thanks for the comment!
Which blade gives better deeper shape ups on coarse hair???
The old school trimmer is out of stock unfortunately smh gonna have to get the GTX
The motors are not the same. The cordless has a rotary motor while the corded GTX has a magnetic motor.

Well the Blackout blades are the same as the regular blades they both have short teeth and the GTX has deep tooth blades.
Enjoyed the vid. Been wondering the difference for years!
Thanks for the info Black Man✊🏿
Thanks bro
Can i put a t outliner blade on my gtx trimmer?
Thanks for watching the video and YES you sure can switch to the standard T-Outliner blade if you choose to!
What type of blade would you recommend for cutting beard stubble to a smooth skin finish. I get bumps easily on my face.

Knocking down beard length is more of a clipper's job, rather than a trimmer.
Do all blades fit any T outliner
Good video. I also have the OG outliner - model G, going 20 years strong. Do you use the 04521 blade when replacing them?

Where can i buy the red cord ???
Peace. Which one should I use to shave my bald head, or is there another clipper I can use? When I use Andis electric shaver I bump up
I would use the original Outliners or the regular T-Outliners because the blades are shorter personally.
I love the andis and wahls detailers
wahls detailers are def my daily drivers
I’d say the only reason why one runs hotter then the other is because the motor has to work harder cordless
