From what I can tell this is fixed on Exynos but not completely fixed on Snapdragon. Snapdragon ATCH in fact did not mention camera improvements in the change log
For a 1400$ phone, this problem should have been noticed earlier...It really did a lot of damage...What is the use of having such a massive 108 MP sensor if it couldn't focus properly
My old Galaxy S7 Edge has a better autofocus than newly releases S20 ultra... this was the first phone i've ever pre-ordered, but i will never do it again. Very disappointed, Samsung.
Yep, I'm so glad. I even had some corrupt videos on my S20 Ultra which really made me wonder whether or not to trust it anymore. Hopefully this camera update fixes everything!
@@AndroidAddicts mine fine and we all remember the note 7 debacle I had no issue with that either samsung will fix it youtbers have already did video's that the update worked i sure more updates 2 come
Someone else with a Snapdragon version commented something pretty similar - on my Exynos I don't have any blurry issues even with 4K 60FPS, zooming in doesn't cause issues
@@AndroidAddicts wow that's good. Samsung needs to do something quick. This phone is dropping in price so fast. I saw it yesterday on eBay brand new for $900 the Ultra 128gb version and from reputable seller with 5 stars. I love mine except when I need to use the camera. Even in phots it still now even close to my Note 10+. Meaning the autofocus of course.
I like the wide-angle lens but it can distort objects somewhat so I try to only use it for either small confined spaces or if I'm out and about and want a nice wide shot of landscape/something
Good to hear, what software version do you have? You may already have the latest version with the camera fixes in. Either way - at least it's working good for you! 👍
Can you took some photos with the fixed update? I want to upgrade from my s10+ but hearing this issue postponed it until i see a perfect picture comes from that 108 mp camera
Well, people report some new issues where autofocus gets completly crazy and it's changing twice per second, but whatever. It's still impossible to repair exynos by update, it's still shitty processor and i hope customers will give expression to that extremly unrespectful treatment from samsung in future.
Am I too critical or do most of the other people wear tomatoes on their eyes? The focus on the S20 Ultra is way better and not as terrible as it was before. But to be honest. It isn´t good either. At least not very good. I ordered it for the camera. And the camera isn´t that good as I expected it to bee. The zoom is cool and better than most other cameras, but the main camera is not very good. At least my Exynos models camera wasn´t
I've never tried tomatoes on my eyes but I presume it's not a good thing. I can't say I'm blown away by the camera having come from the S10+ but cameras have been 'so good' since around the S6/S7 days that it's getting harder to see the improvements (not impossible but you just get used to having 'a good' camera after a while. However, when something like the focus issue occurs you really notice it and it's quite frustrating to say the least.
@@AndroidAddicts It seems, that the tomatoe thing is a rather German saying and not internationaly used 😅 Switching back to my Mate9, I kind of miss the S20 Ultra. But knowing to get back a lot of money, I feel more or less comfortable.
@@wrd980 Well, I have advanced knowledge about photography. Therefore I can judge if a camera is good or poor. Whether there is a blurry bokeh or a misfocused picture, if the blurriness is the result of natural bokeh or a bad lens. I had the Exynos Version with Samsung sensor. Maybe you have to Snapdragon with Sony sensor. To conclude: The S20Ultra is not bad, it is a good phone with a good camera. But the camera shots less sharp pictures than my Mate9, and the camera is far away from being perfect or at least very good.
Mine still persist on ratio 64mp. Have problem when focusing close up object. It was ok when early use. But after a week, my camera start have auto focus problem. When i turn back to normal ratio (not 64mp). The autofocus got no problem at all.
Can you comment on focus while video recording in 30fps vs 60fps. I have the snapdragon ATT variant and even after the update the 60fps doesn't attempt to focus at all. No issue on 30fps. 8k still produces unusable video. Any body else have my issue?

You can see that the focusing speed issue was fixed in the update although it still has some work to go. There is a limitation of the S20 Ultra where it cannot focus on items
It was improved with updates yes, so it's much better than in this video. But duento the nature of the lens it does still happen slightly when trying to get too close to objects
When trying to focus in close range it always seems blurry and never focuses. I did compare the same distance with a s10+ and a s21 ultra an they both focused pretty well, should i be worry about that? Or is it "normal"?
In my experience, it was a hardware fail, due to some type of malfunction with the camera. In fact, i not only had the blurry problem, my front camera also stopped working suddenly. So It was the whole camera system, hope it helps you.
Mine's fixed but I realised I am with Samsung cause I can't shoot an object really close because I used to have Huawei Mate 10 which can shoot an object really close. If you know what I mean. 😔

oh great finally
This is really how the camera should have been when the phone released, can't believe it wasn't!

@@AndroidAddicts I can relate on that. I also felt that way before. The update may not be perfect yet but it fixed the autofocus issue.
Me too
But why did they release the device with that issue in first place? It's a shame for such a big company

Yes
It turns out haven't fixed it completely, there's still an issue. It's improved but not 100% fixed
