@@alexmoscatelli149 A cobra is an aircraft maneuver. I can't explain it in text because there's a lot of moving parts to it. But if you google a video you'll see it. And performing a cobra requires some things to line up that generally wouldn't be possible without the "cobra" button

In the case of this SU-27, it disables the computer that limits the rotation of the elevators in the back of the plane. Letting you pull wildly on it. Normally when a plane pulls back, they'll also gain altitude. A cobra lets the nose of the aircraft come up, often greater than 90 degrees and it will not significantly change their path of flight. A full cobra brings the nose back down without any change in altitude. Think of a boat moving through water. When you deflect the rudder, the boat slowly turns. Now lets say there's a way you can deflect the rudder so fast that you can actually make your boat completely perpendicular to the direction of travel. This is the same idea of a cobra. I want you to remember this metaphor, because it ties into greater concepts like Angle of Attack.
@@Tabs_Original i used to play a lot of DCS back in the days, doesn't matter how hard you pull if you are below 310-270 km/h (don't remember the exact number) you will never ever brake your wings. You can even hover on the valleys with the cobra I used to ambush many players like that. Remember to always pitch up and doesn't matter how much you pull you will never brake your wings, but never pitch down, you will loose control easly
It's the all in button. You get ONE incredible turn with it. If your wings don't snap off it leaves you with no energy left, so if you don't stall out and crash you are still a sitting duck.
when I was an F/A-18 A-D Electrician. pilots that used the G-limer switch during flight, in training exercises, were despised. I don't know how much trouble they got in. but it could cause weeks of work to repair and inspect the air-frame. The inside of the plane had many strain gauges that reported stresses on key points of the air-frame to the mission and flight computers, that had to be inspected and replace. I helped with repairs on 2 separate incidents one was a training snafu, and one was a plane the was damaged in combat during desert storm/shield. so when doing this in DCS think of your mechanic ;)
Over G doesnt always mean the pilot is passing out, can also mean she's crying for those poor wings aswell. That Flanker is gonna spend the next 3 months grounded lmao
In summary: flanker flying HUD BFM while sub 300 knots pulls the depart flight button, and dumps all their speed, along with any hope of surviving, for a completely unaimed snapshot, with no radar or IRST lock, where they cannot even see what they are shooting at, with a low Velocity gun, on a maneuvering target going at least 1.5x their speed, who is actively trying to dodge their rounds. On top of that, their round hits the 10% of the plane that would even be affected by a single round impact. You did everything wrong and the other guy did everything right and you still won, this isn't luck, this isn't bullshit, this is an absurd blind luck hail mary that you didn't deserve to hit in any universe or timeline. Why does this never happen to me 😂😂😂

He slightly jinked when i pressed the cobra button, jinking is good when you are certain they will have a gun solution. In this instance my shot landing was a border line miracle and i was completely out of energy afterwards, he would've gone around the circle and been behind me in under 60 seconds, but thats luck of draw i guess they might jink more next time lol.
not a cobra lol the cobra button just lets you fully deflect the elevators. in dcs the maneuver is only possible by hitting the button but it can also be used for a shit ton of instantaneous AOA, which is what tabs did
Not true though. The inventors of the maneuver (which are actually the Swedish j-35 pilots, who named it ”short parry”) used it several times in combat training against Viggens. Viggen pilots would try it but realized the airframe of the Viggen couldn’t handle it like the Draken could.
@Tabs_Original seems to only fit the narrative of US mains complaining (in air rb) until russian planes have zero advantages. In game, russian aircraft are all severely under preforming. There is russian bias in ground though in all fairness.

@Tabs_Original the second you go 2 circle at any altitude against an SU-27 in warthunder, there is quite litteraly nothing you can do to win in the flanker against any NATO gen 4 in warthunder. You can't even counter the circle by creating an offset or cutting between the opponents circle. They made the SU-27 defenseless in a BFM engagement in warthunder thanks to how poorly the SU-27s FM was modeled. Dcs is much more realistic.
Did this in War Thunder, was in a close up turn fight with an F-15A, in my Su-27, and we were doing only guns. He was below me, so I switched to full real controls using a keybind I have, pulled the nose back and managed to get a few rounds on target and take him out. Was actually really impressive, it can do wonders sometimes.
Awesome to see desperate measures work out. That shot takes a good amount of skill and some luck as well. Not taking out the f16 after performing this manouver is probably game over

I was in a similar situation and I missed the kill. Ended up losing energy to keep flight and started descending. For the F-16, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.
One thing I can absolutely recommend, is to practice flying and dogfighting with the ACS Switch enabled It helps build muscle memory and helps pushing the limit, even at higher "Wing-rip" speeds A lot of people dont realize it, but the plane is still surprisingly controllable with the Switch on, as long as you're trimmed out well.
Imagine playing a game that has a cheat button that allows the plane to avoid physics, that in real combat at that altitude would cause the mig to stall out and crash. And F16 on the deck would murder the Russian plane.
Warthunder: Oh you shot him with 50 20mm round straight into the cockpit, wings and engine, yeah you get a hit DCS: A single 30mm round? Yeah your entire plane blows up

There are "simpler" jets called flaming cliffs 3 aircraft that only need 2 buttons to start they are all currently on sale. For $25usd you get su-27, f-15c, a-10a, mig-29.
Sort of puts me in mind of the Assistance OFF mode from Tom Clancy's Hawx. The actual implementation of it was a lot more forgiving than the actual systems, in hawx the biggest threat was stalling too low to recover in time, so you don't have to worry about losing a wing
In real life, you Fly level at speeds greater than 190KIAS but less than 250KIAS. Quickly but briefly pitch the nose of the fighter down for less than a second. Pull up hard for about a second. Pitch down again for about a half seconds. Increase the throttle to 100%
But it better work the first time! Or you're boned. The Raptor also has the ability to do crazy high energy depleting manuevers (including post-stall) but has the ability to gain that energy back more quickly. But still....any time spent at super low energy level makes you a vulnerable pig in space. Still, watching that classic Su-37 demo will never get old! A beautiful jet, the Flanker.

I pulled it in cruise at about 500 and just instantly died from negative g flipped over on my back and fell into the ground as my engines stalled

you have to have sufficient airspeed to be able to jink. the f16 looks real slow to me.
