    Given that you've been doing this for years now, I loooove that you mention that you're still learning ^_^ It's definitely better than the people who have the ego to say that what they say is the only truth and way to do something, even if they're professionals as well.

    After I bought the variegated and speckled yarn, I realized that there's not much contrast between the two yarns. This video confirmed my plan for creating a tonal yarn that would go with each skein. One will be teal and the other maybe a steel blue.

      I love this kind of technique for making tonals. Feel free to DM me on Etsy if you want me to check into colors I used on those skeins. (although the colors will also be in the video description under "VIDEO CONTENTS" for the yarn)

      @@ChemKnitsTutorials I decided to do a layering of 4 different colors of blue green mixing just blue, red, fuchsia, turquoise, sun yellow, and golden yellow. The other will be on the blue violet side. Experimenting with adding complements and creating the colors from different primaries. I don't have the premixed colors you have, but the celebration blue video was inspiring.

    Rebecca! I had to watch this more that just a few times with your using green! And I love the final effect the colours (I saw the how the bare yarn colour matched so well with the green to produce such a soft colouring) had being blended that way, and it really turned out brilliant! Now, I don't have a large pan like yours, though I have a large, same shape, dark roasting pan. I can either line the pan with foil, or get one of the foil roasting pans, flatten the bottom as much as possible, in order to be able to see what I am doing! Maybe someone will check that off my list for me!
    Very, very beautiful Rebecca, and I can see that yarn worked up in my "40 shades of green"(a reference to Ireland) afghan I want to make. Thank you Rebecca!

    I tried this today instead of a kettle dye. I used Citric Acid mix instead of vinegar but otherwise pretty much the same technique as what you did. I used Dharma Periwinkle. It's drying right now, but so far I'm very happy with the results. I can't wait to see how it knits up and if pooling is reduced. Thanks for all your wonderful videos and experiments!

    I love this color. Green is my favorite color and I prefer earth tones to bright colors. Anyone else want to add some grey to bring out the 'moss covered stones' look? Maybe dye the whole skein a light grey then overdye it with patches of green?

    It was very interesting and helpful to see you mix the liquid colors together and then apply it to the yarn. It would be great is you showed mixing of colors (basically color theory) more! Love the green you produced but green is a favorite of mine ! Thank you so much for your channel.

    I love this method! I see you actually added more vinegar in the middle of the vid.. that makes 3x adding vinegar right? When you spread the first dye, was it the dilution or the original 1%? Also... I'm wondering what color is good to add to Dharma Amethyst to create a nice tonal? Pink? Blue. I love all purples and like moody yarn! :-)

  • @fralou1

    I love this colourway. Thank you for this lesson. I have a question for you. Most of the time or often you dye 300g/3 skeins of yarn at a time. My question is what do I change as I can only dye 1 skein/100g of yarn. And will the rule be the same for 200g. Oooh what about 10g. 20g and 50. Do you have something somewhere, where I can find this info? Thank you.

    • @ChemKnitsTutorials
      @ChemKnitsTutorials  3 роки тому

      Hi Francine, The two big things I would change would be (slightly) less water. The yarn can spread out more in the pan so it doesn't need quite the same volume. And I'd also reduce the total amount of dye I used by 1/3. Otherwise... the technique is very similar. usually I don't need to flip so many times with 100 g of yarn in the pan because 100 g is easier to get coverage on at first.

    • @fralou1
      @fralou1 3 роки тому

      @@ChemKnitsTutorials thank you Rebecca. Unfortunately I tried before I got a reply and the colour came out darker. I will dye my yarn again but I made only a 50g skein. Perhaps I’ll go to a 100g skein and use my yarn elsewhere lol
