Mike you literally explained why going THE SLING TSI route is a better choice. Cirrus is now catching up with some tech but still fail to add a FADEC powerplant. At a 3rd of the price the TSI provides more value hands down.
Dude, you crack me up so much. I started watching you about a year and a half ago. I’m an old guy at 67 years and have 23,000 hours. Keep doing what you’re doing it’s really good and I enjoy it. It’s great entertainment!
Yes my Bristell 915 has push start , touch screens , IFR IMC equipped and chute but I ordered a G7 22T. More payload and speed. Great warranty and many nearby service centers.
All these new features should be in every airplane. Even though the price is pretty high, it’s good to see Cirrus modernizing general aviation. More companies will definitely follow which will drive down prices eventually when it becomes standard.
I own a 2020 SR22T for over 2 years. It’s amazing. I definitely would have liked to see a PT6 in the new G7. But like you said in this video. Cirrus is the top piston plane bar none so with that being said I would get this for sure.
For the kind of money they're charging, a turbine engine should be standard equipment. If I had $1M laying around, I'd just buy a new Hill HC50 helicopter with the turbine engine. :)
If you order one be aware there will be a addendum to the contract. The price you agree to will actually be less than what you pay. It will take a minimum of 18 months to deliver and you will be responsible for cost increases. If you ordered a fully equipped SR22T today 1.3 will balloon conservatively by 10% before it is delivered. Things to consider.
I don't think I signed any addendum, interesting. Point is if they sell like hotcakes (according to Cirrus lol), how about not latching onto deposits? Seems desperate to me.
The problem is, turbine costs are incredibly high. I’ve had C150-Warrior-Lance-Baron-310. Being in the “turbine” world requires a huge bump. If you don’t have at least 10 million, you probably cannot afford to run a pressurized turbine.
It's not as fast but I think the Diamond DA40 NG looks like a worthy competitor. Mike, would like to see a video on this plane! Edit as of 1/19/24: Mike has older videos that show he trained to fly in an older DA40 and one covers that plane well. This plane is faster, uses Jet-A and has lower fuel burn. I'd still like to see a video covering the newer plane...and maybe Diamondshare as well.
I think the best feature on the new G7 is the automated flaps. This will save lives. The airplane is not forgiving to retracting flaps lower than specified speed and has cost pilots their lives in the past. Good job. The engine in the airplane is a solid engine platform and I see no need to change it but I do believe Sarah has bumped their head on the pricing as Mike said there are plenty of other aircraft for the same or less price with other attractive features. A comment onoutselling other manufacturers. The fact that they have a pair of Ute is the biggest reason for that. Having that data, I think all manufactures of new aircraft should include the option.
Hey Mike, one really cool feature is the stall shaker in the stick. Since the airframe is pretty much the same as previous models, I'm wondering how much it would cost to upgrade to the G7?
I didn't know the Piper m350 was in similar price range. I think the key to Cirrus' success is that it's slightly modern in appearance, it's among the faster planes, has fancy looking avionics and maybe the parachute is ultimately the deal clincher. What's the one thing you want out of a plane? to not die. It's important :) It might be as simple as looking new and having the parachute. Because most of the others look like they were indiana jones' childhood plane. And afaik Cirrus completely dominates the small plane market, I think they just reached 10000 planes sold, maybe 400million dollars annual sales but somehow they haven't managed economy of scale, only scale of greed. I've noticed one common issue crippling all of GA, that's the engine costs. Now Cirrus are masters of greed themselves but as big of a company as they are, they should actually develop engines of their own. They could do their own IO550 in a bit more modern version, it's not impossible and worth it for them but ironically it's actually easier to make the equivalent turbofan engine and have two engines and be so much cooler and faster. There is no twin jet in car seat size planes despite it being very possible and it would instantly devastate both everything in the piston world, I mean foggedaboudid, but it would presumably also really cut into socalled light jets because who wants the hassle of getting a pilot and servicing of a private jet if you can just drive your car style jet without all the overhead. As surprising as it is, turbofan jet planes can match or exceed the fuel economy of piston props. An Eclipse 550 literally has better mileage than a Baron 58 despite being 60% faster. The first to make a car twin jet for even remotely decent money will murder the market. Jets are so reliable that for personal use they'll last you a lifetime. Who ever flies 3500 hours for personal use. Also it might well be possible to make a jet engine that can run on any kind of fuel around, mogas, avgas, diesel, jetA. Pretty cool selling point. And with a strong power to weight ratio it can do short runways with the best of them. Grass runways are not that demanding on landing gear. Imagine the freedom of a twin private jet with LSA fuel economy.
Love the plane. 2 things that would keep this as a hard buy is the power plant as you mentioned. Also for this price the suspension on the mains should be updated. No reason for this type of suspension with so many good examples that could be used. Thanks for the video
Love in the their announcement video where they say, "If you are a new pilot, this is the perfect plane for you!" - - - Could you imagine the insurance on a $1.1m plane as a brand new pilot??
I will take my Legacy - 285mph, 2 G3X, GNS 750, all electric push start engine - under 400k and will smoke any SR22. Unless engine blows over mtns. Cirrus know their market, newbie pilots and a wife who wants the chute. Operating cost on the cirrus will be outrageous - hanger, insurance, maintenance, annual training, etc. And I can do acrobatics (light) oh and I raced it in reno! I owned a Malibu - maintenance is off the charts - pressurization is a big dollar sink. flying high cost big bucks
The Interior and panel are really nicely done! Sleek, beautiful and well laid out. The price, not so much! I'm actually surprised they don't offer various power plants. That has always stumped me about Cirrus. Great Vid my man!
Flying started with a 152. Gadgets are cool. After sale service is as important as you state. But but but.. The engine is a deal killer. It's like a Porche with a Kia engine. Good video. Keep it up.
For the most part, I agree with you. A Diesel (jet A) FADEC is the way to go but that would likely price out around $1.6m. Pressurization would redesign the Gull door-ed air-frame and flirt with a heavier $2m SEL; new model Cirrus?. That would probably help competitor sales more than Cirrus. Although not new, the touch mini screens is the future (safety, function, appearance, simplicity). I think Cirrus is at the price thresh hold now, but what do I know, can't afford one either. Good review and I appreciate your effort.
Compare the Diamond DA50RG. For the same price, the Diamond gets you more payload, speed, range, fuel efficiency, modern diesel engine......The competition has caught up to Cirrus and they need to step up their game.
For coffee, I see a few people have recommended James Hoffman. Absolutely recommend his channel. Also recommend Morgan Drinks Coffee and Emilee Bryant. You probably already know this, but the basics that I try to do (I am no expert so hefty grain of salt) keep weight the same if you can, and if it’s acidic it is under extracted(not a long enough shot or the grind is too coarse ) and if it tastes burnt it’s over extracted (needs a longer pull or a finer grind).
I’d love a solution that is less expensive. I keep getting drawn to the Sling TSI with the new 916. I keep looking for reviews of the new engine. Do you think there is another option?
Cirrus saying “it’s just like the vision jet” over and over again is not about transitioning pilots. Its marketing. They are trying to give potential buyers the “feels”. It’s not going to get them to step up to a vision jet, but it is a very smart way to market their premium product and make it feel more premium and special to potential buyers, and it can motivate current owners to update to a G7.
I enjoy your videos! I would get a used turbo-prop before I bought a new cirrus. Ive never liked the side sticks either, personal preference. I would also consider a M20v before I would buy a cirrus.
I flew the SR for 100 hours before buying and ended up not buying. I ended up building an RV10 for 40% of the price 1/3th maintenance cost for 80% perofmance of at 22T. I don't regret it one bit, cheapest way to own a 4 seater that moves at 160K+
I thought your TBM was much more expensive than the Cirrus. Or at least in the same ballpark. Id be completely happy for the rest of my life with a plane like yours.
What a great airplane! Thanks for the video. The only way I know that I’m going to afford something beautiful like that is to get successful on UA-cam! So I think that’s what I’m going to have to do. I’m not sure what else to do to be able to forward that kind of Airplane. I’ve been taking lessons for about six months, and I’m almost ready to solo. I thought I was ready two or three times and I keep getting nervous. But man as soon as I can, I wanna get my license and buy whatever I can. I’ll probably have to start with an older Piper or Cessna. I would love to get serious about a Cirrus! What a great airplane.

Hm, I have a Cirrus with Continental and i don't want to have a Lycoming. The conti running LOP is so much more effective. And if you lean it right you will have no problem. I have more than 1300h with it now.
makes no sense - I have flown both, several thousand hours - my 540 shot the crank in my malibu - 540 has killed a bunch of Malibu drivers - I love my 550
For that kind of money you can buy a Lancair Evolution and have that pressurized cabin, over 1000 mile range at 350+ kts. Yes, It will be Experimental but, as the owner/builder of your own Experimental airplane you know that is not, in any way, a negative. It is a net positive since you can do all of your own maintenance, just for starters.
I have nothing against cirrus, they are good at what they are good at which is selling a whole package. That being said I wonder what is preventing something like an Evolution from getting the same treatment. Could you imagine the Cirrus network and pipeline coupled to that airframe? That is pretty much where we need to be going on the high end 4 place, and it already exists.
Thank Mike for this great review.... This plane is one of my top listed ones...however I am leaning more toward the Diamond DA62. Which I believe is a better choice for me...what is your thought about it.... I have to decide in next month or so... I will be getting my PPL in next few months...just as a new pilot... Dr. Khalid
Dr. Khalid…. Please be careful.. I also am a Dr. But I have approx 4000 hrs over the last 50 yrs of flying. Build up your experience starting with something simpler. Too much airplane can kill you in your early flying days. work your way through your instrument ticket and several hundred hours of experience. Back in my early days, the Bonanza was considered the Doctor Killer for a reason. God bless and gain your experience carefully.
A nice LSA could be a good option, and I agree with John. Please don't buy too much airplane too soon. The recent aviatrix UA-camr crash death is an example of buying too much airplane for the pilot. Hone your skills in something easy and forgiving.
When YOU become a pilot… You won’t ever notice what hand you are flying with… With a traditional yoke, you will be flying with your left hand while your right hand is operating all the other controls for engine, gear, and flaps… You can always fly from the right seat…. Incremental improvements. Same everything that matters. A real announcement would have been normal cruise at 225kts and/or better range. Instead, they cater to people who heavily rely on avionics to survive. They continually referred to the term 'simplicity' which is only true when everything goes perfectly. Too many Cirrus born pilots don't respect the inescapable reality that flying is complex.....they just have a computer helping them.....and the red CAPS handle. It all makes new pilots feel invincible.
You couldn't be more wrong. Sure, there are always going to be those who think in the manner that you described, but they're not married to Cirrus. I've been a pro pilot for over 20 years. In Cirrus alone, I have over a thousand hours of dual given and I rarely, if ever, come across the kind of pilot you just described. For what's it's worth, I've seldom encountered that type of pilot in any airframe. But the ones I've come across weren't flying Cirrus, they were flying Beech, Cessna, Mooney, and Piper. I'm aware bad apples exist, but they're still rare. Just these last few weeks, we've had several fatal and completely avoidable accidents in Bonanzas and Cessnas. TNFlyGirl killed herself in a fairly basic airplane. Two days ago, a doctor and his two children died in a Cessna 310. Your endpoint is subjective at best and seemed to be predicated on bias and other emotions, as opposed to the objective truth and fact based evidence.
Those of you that could afford a plane like that. What do you all do for a living? I work In a factory and I dream of flying jets like this. But I can’t even afford the pilot school.
1 point three mill ?? Are you flipping kidding me ?? You can get a used C208 caravan for like 1 point five. You can get a used Meridian for one mill. I'm hoping when the Panthera is certified, it will hover at 700K. Which if that happens, the Panthera is going to kick the Cirrus behind.
Mike you literally explained why going THE SLING TSI route is a better choice. Cirrus is now catching up with some tech but still fail to add a FADEC powerplant. At a 3rd of the price the TSI provides more value hands down.

Garmen needs to link up with Microsoft and use their 3d Data from MS Flight Sim. The whole planet is in the sim so use it.
It's just an SR with the Vision Jet interior and Jet Avionics.
Do you prefer the Cirrus over the Diamonds? Why or why?
Needs to be a G8 GTP
You didnt outline competition at that price level
The biggest downside of the SR series is it’s not pressurized, for $1.3m they could’ve pressurized the cabin imo.
Should have had electronic fuel injection, electronic ignition, pressurized cabin
1 million and more….🥶🥶🥶 You’ll find much cheaper alternatives and buy avgas for many many years with the money you save 😇
I'd buy that plane if I had enough money.
No FADEC - A HUGE MISTAKE
Perhaps I’m being too pedantic but a single piston and a piston single mean two very different things.
Do you drive a model T or A ford. Don’t hate progress they said the same thing about the Moony’s and Bonanza etc. YOU are just getting old. 😜
3:30 You are pointing to the wrong spot.
Cirrus is Apple from the airplane market
With tax depreciation phasing out they will not be able to continue increasing prices this way
Those of you that could afford a plane like that. What do you all do for a living? I work In a factory and I dream of flying jets like this. But I can’t even afford the pilot school.
It’s crazy how exoplanets are … if Tesla decided to build planes (will never happen) this plane would be $90,000 not $1 million. 🤔
It could explode in your hangar than...
I like cirrus, but twin engine is safe for me.
Looks nice but not worth the money. Not pressurized! As you pointed out, I can you pressurized turbo props for less..
why do you keep saying single piston? You mean single engine? or single prop?
He means single prop + piston engine
Cater
What a beautiful aircraft but at $1.3 million plus incidentals ...
For a million dollars I’m getting a lot more airplane than a supped up 182.
Lot of money
Too bad the mfd/pfd couldn't be lowered a couple/few inches
1 point three mill ?? Are you flipping kidding me ?? You can get a used C208 caravan for like 1 point five. You can get a used Meridian for one mill. I'm hoping when the Panthera is certified, it will hover at 700K. Which if that happens, the Panthera is going to kick the Cirrus behind.
$634k to $1M
More reason for folks to fly with their head in the cockpit VFR.
