When I look at my dearly departed father’s 1966 HW35 Standard (which I inherited) I picture him shooting it and fondly remember when I first went hunting pigeon with him at the age of 4 years old (I’m 59 now). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Nick!😊
I have a similar story, my 1980 HW35 .177 standard was my Dads, the 1st gun I learned to shoot when I was like 8 maybe? I'm 44 now and my Dad is 81, but the gun is showcase immaculate, beautiful, and built to last.
That made me chuckle, even though I currently have 2 35's in my collection. The one with one of your kits fitted is sublime to shoot. I'd send you a picture, but that would be cruel!🤣
Proper nice bloke ....spoke to him in the covid days about tuning a supersport I had.... he was in France at the time but had the time to talk to me and was very helpful and polite and knows he's guns...👍
I just spat my Bacardi&Coke out !! “ Can’t hit a cows arse with a Banjo” the funniest line I’ve heard in years 🤣🤣 please keep the vids coming they’re brilliant, I have a HW80 (early one) and I love it , it’s got your kit in it brilliant gun 👍👍👍😁
Cracking video Nick 👍 I’ve fond memories of my walnut stocked 35e I used in the early 90’s. Think it might still be in my ex wife’s loft, might have to start talking to her again 😅
Had a brand new one of these back in 1978. Yes ugly and a leather piston seal but it was built like a tank and had an excellent trigger. It never broke or went wrong.
You’re a very funny man, I actually have a 1969 HW 35 with a leather piston seal !! I also have an HW 97 K , I think the HW 35 is possibly more fun to shoot . ( please don’t ban me from watching your videos for saying that)
The HW35E is a full blood hunter. I own all HW springer models and the 35 is my choice for hunting. Love the barrel latch....Gonna order the 35E with walnut stock. Together with the HW98 the most beautiful HW,s UNSUBSCRIBED 😂😂😂lol Thanks for showing buddy...Cheers!
put off watching this video because ive got a silver limited edition that i love . but you were brilliant ,the jeremy clarkson of airguns ..... . i have several weihrauch air rifles and are all different in use it would be a sad day if we all had the same gun , opinions etc but that is what makes us human . fantastic video and top comedy , keep doing what you are doing .... we love it .
Excellent vid as usual, to add to my collection of HW guns I jumped at the chance of buying a 35 blue lam in 22 call, just to look at ! But l like it so was thinking of getting one in 177 , l am beginning to think I have a problem! 😂
In the early eighties i was droowling over my Weihraugh cataloque but obviously had no HW money. Now in my fifties i have many HW (with TbT parts ;-) and my 2020 walnut 35 sure looks nice and it has a normal length barrel 😄
I've got one from 1977 , the only air rifle I've never parted with , I sold my venom tuned Hw80 with no regrets but the 35 NEVER , Cranbrook boy are ya , I'm a Maidstone man but I used to work in cranbrook in the Gasworks behind the windmill , small world , you must remember A,SAUNDERS gunshop in Bank st many moons ago 👍🍻
I remember them well! The ASI Sniper was only £32 in there and I wanted one baaaad! They wouldn’t sell us pellets either😁 Edit, and they had some lovely little Diana pistols. Pocket sized, but probably no power. I must find one!😳
@@tbtairrifletuning1520 what model are you after , I was in Saunders so often I got a discount, and my mother , she used to carry 250 12bore cartridges from the town to loose , ASI sniper ,,,now they was real shit 🤣 they had all the little BAIKAL Record pistols as well ,
the hw35 was my first proper gun bought in 1978 up graded a year later to fwb127 ......still have a hw35e 1979 in .177 shoots well and lighter than my 97k......but my 98 .177 is my favourite
35e is my favourite airgun of all time had one in the early 8os the walnut stock was beautiful wish i still had it had a 4x40 tasco wide angle panorama on it with hilver steel mounts
The HW35, my introduction to quality air rifles and my first foray into the Weihrauch brand, I've never been without having at least one in my collection in over 50 years. Have a look at the rare EL54, a very interesting project.
I love 35's to the point that I don't know how many I've got, been tuning them for years, my dad first got one in the 70's and my BSA's and Webleys were all forgotten, my favourite is an Export with a Titan spring, an ozseal, a TBT kit and an orange laquered stock.
In 2001 A Space Odyssey the original cut was of the ape throwing a HW35 into the air but it was deemed too frightening for the audience so they changed it to a bone.
I used to own a hw 35k. It was the sweetest cycle of an unturned springer I've ever owned illness forced me to sell it. I own a 99s it's light enough so I can continue to shoot . If I get fit enough to carry a heavier gun I would buy another 35k.
I know your being a bit tongue in cheek with your opinion, but some lads who are watching this might be put off from trying one of these fabulous rifles as I think you probably influence people more than you know.I’ve been shooting Airguns for many years and have owned nearly every Weihrauch going,I’ve owned four 35s over the years, the only one I’ve kept is a 1966 HW35e,which I’m going to be buried with, along with my BSA Airsporter S,and my WEBLEY Mk3 ❤ keep up the good work 😅
I had a 35 as a schoolboy back in the 80’s with a nice walnut thumb hole stock . I don’t know if that was a factory or custom stock because like a lot of guns I had back then it was swapped with someone else at school . I knew Richard Spenser of air logic genesis fame back then and he tuned it for me and it’s a gun I still wish I had . Can’t remember what happened to it but I’ll have swapped it with someone else for something random
No problem from me with the looks of the HW35. I also like old Airporters and Webley Mk3's has well. The trouble is they should bring a HW35 out with a shorter barrel and a silencer and no open sights, with a stock to suite I cant' use open sights anymore and haven't been able to do since my early 40's, which is average. Also 4x power is no good for me anymore, I need a variable with up to 8x for 12 ft/lb ranges. And I prefer mil dot scopes, because I haven't got time nowadays to learn the scope trajectory. Same go's for the highly regarded HW99. It will have to have a shorter barrel, silencer and no sights with a stock to suite for me to buy one.
Cracking post Nick, I am kinda of the same view on Marmite, I might want one but the look ain’t good. I started out with being given an Airsporter and have a have a deep hatred for fixed barrel guns still, I wanted a Vulcan but no, sad to say I still have the bloody bit of crap after 45 years, fully refurbed inside but just ain’t binned it yet. When I was 14 I got my Vulcan and at 15 got my HW80. Oh I will look forward to Tony seeing this video 😂 Will need to go and handle my Beretta DT11 just to get this erased from my thoughts 😅 Clanchief
Its a classic! my 1980 beech stock .177 is still immaculate, It was Dads gun when I was a kid. (we need a licence for these in N.Ireland), Also I've a .22 CZ455, and a WW2 Mosin Nagant from1943, but I'd never sell the Weihrauch!
I have 3 of them a 35E (2019) a 35K (2019) and an 1983 35 standard 19" they all kill rabbits out to 40 yds etc. weihirauch themselves had to make the hw80 to better the 35 in fac version only. The hw 35 is still made in the same factory since the 60s as when it was first made by the same family owners. How many British air guns can claim that.? That's right none. The hw35 is a living legend unlike our airsporter which is a legend that got sold down the river.
The 35 iconic rifle in the 70s there were 3 versions standard .deluxe then export I'm reaching now but the deluxe may have had a type of thumbhole stock I ended up with the standard it was the cheapest. I think the vixen was the tuned version great video stop Gipping your a big boy now
I seem to remember the early ones had the Weihrauch rabbit alert fitted in the cocking link, you could break the action silently using the thumb latch, then as soon as you pulled down on the barrel to compress the spring the cocking link would click loud enough to send rabbits scurrying for their burrows and crows 2 fields away would take flight cawing loudly, pigeons would clatter away from the other side of the wood and you'd be left with no quarry. Why Weihrauch haven't taken that basic idea of a thumb latch and applied it to a modern action I don't know, it can be done and look nice, Webley managed it, Slavia, Hammerli and a few others all managed to make a thumb latch which didn't need Jerry the mouse's front door in the woodwork.
Some bloke down the pub said that when the Luftwaffe were running out of munitions, they dropped HW35’s on the spitfire factories because they knew the workers would suffer from convulsions and projectile vomitting and would refuse to return to work until the disposal team had removed EVERY SINGLE ONE which could only be done using metal detectors and wearing welding masks! Not sure how true that was😉
I’m torn between this iconic rifle in .22 and the HW50s Limited Laminate edition. What would you recommend out of the 2? I love the look of both power plants personally. Great videos and great Kits. 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🇬🇧
Thanks mate for your fantastic and passionate video, I also think HW 35 is ugly, but I would have bought it If it was on sale here in Iran. I have HW 77 k and HW 80 full size and full power in 22. The only other avalebel is HW 85 new (Year of built unknown) For about 350 pounds. What do you think??? Is it worth buying?
Ho ho ho, love it, I laughed, but just ask yourself how many bullpup or carbine sniper rifles do you see?? been out with mine today and it equalled my 97 easily.
Hahaha PMS, I got the new version without the finger groove, hardly ever shoot it, but got it to try and complete a set, on the verge of getting a 57.!!! Even more disliked than your 35, would be interested in seeing a review if you have one Nick.😎
Back in the Day it used to be a Choice between One of these or the BSA Meteor's ..Buying German Was More Expensive and Seemed somewhat Unpatriotic to a Young Lad in my Circles ..But saying that The German Air Rifles were Better Made ( Shamed to say so!)
For me, (I'm 60 yrs old) it was the relum tornado. I think it was Hungarian but I might be wrong. A tap loading under lever no less. It was ugly and not very classy but by heck it was sturdy and underwent some severe mistreatment during it's time with me and my brothers and my friends. I'm sure we tuned it somehow with a different spring from a bsa airsporter. Unless I've got dementia I'm sure it was a dual spring??. And do you know what?,we could shoot a spuggy off a chimney at 40 yards with shitty open sights. Ugly gun, rough as a bears arse but wish I'd still got it 😅
Hi.I have a problem that after tuning, I have a sound like metal against metal when tuning, it is not so smooth and soft anymore. What could be the problem and when I disassemble again what should I pay special attention to?
It wasn't you that " cleaned up " the cave paintings at Bruniquel just to get rid of the one with the HW 35 portrayed in it ? , own up you will feel better for it 😂

Just bought one of your tuning kits for my 80’s 35E. The new spring is 1.5mm smaller in diameter than the one I’m replacing - ???
Yes, and it is larger than the springs that come in the brand new guns
Stood the test of time not that ugly 😮
Had two over the year's, not kept either.
Why didn’t Hans put barrel latches on other break barrels?
Perhaps he knew it was only the latch that would shift the 35’s😉
