Thanks for including HOFer Alan Trammel. One of the nicest people you’ll ever meet and the most fundamentally sound player I have ever seen.
My favorite player of all time! Robbed of the MVP in '87. At least he was rightfully voted into the HOF with Jack Morris. Cool to see he ended that career with a hit.
Lou Whitaker for you: ua-cam.com/video/cMVqzEGmOr8/v-deo.htmlsi=8yUT4HdEzRDG6kG_
Totally agree!
Just listen to the way the crowd had love and admiration for him and then compare that with the Reggie Jackson boos. Alan Trammell is my dad's favorite player and one of the most underrated players in baseball history
Yeah Trammel was underappreciated for so damn long. But that tends to happen in baseball more than any other sport as far as the HOF goes. But I suppose it does make it more special keeping it much more exclusive than other sports. Both him and Morris for sure deserved to get in!
The beauty of this is that so many of the clips were road games and the crowds gave due respect. Baseball fans are the best.
That was pretty cool of the Oakland Athletics to have Steven Vogt's kids introduce him during his walkup.
Yup, was also the best way to end his career. His first and last hit were home runs.
Couldn't write a better ending!!
enough to make a grown man tear up lol
And in a few months the A's are leaving Oakland forever
I hope Oakland makes the World Series and wins it. Billy Beane will be justified!
I still have my game ticket from Tony Gwynn's last game. RIP to my childhood hero.
No matter your feelings on the Yankees, whom I loathe almost as much as the Dodgers, seeing Jeter end his career on a walk-off was something special.
The Murph was the best place to be in the summer. Section M parking tailgaters let me hear you here!!!!!
I was at Tony's last game. Also Rickey's 3000th hit, and the ceremony celebration for his 3000th hit, and his retirement. Season ticket holder from 1996-2002 at the Murph!
Watching Tony play baseball was one of the greatest joys for baseball fans. Special player during a great era of baseball.
Tailgate at the Murph, watching Tony, Trevor, Ken Caminiti, etc. and the fiery Kevin Brown and Goose Gossage. No series win (yet) but great memories and a cheap date with my girlfriend and now wife of 39 years. Tony was/is Mr. Padre but Dravecky, Tempy, and so many made a trip to the ballpark a great time and a true San Diego thing. Was there a 5.5 hole before Tony? Yep but he sure perfected it. His strikeout to hit ratio against three Atlanta Cy Young winners is just one of many measures of his greatness. His laugh and willingness to "be" the Padres to all us San Diegans are so missed. Loved hearing his stories and his laugh at, "Ricky lose a cleat!"
I was at Mariano's last game. I sobbed like a baby. The emotions that night and having Jeter and Andy come out to take him out was just so special. The standing ovation he got was about 10 min not the edits you see.
Vogt grooving one after his kids announced him is an all timer
That sweet swing of Griffey was second to none, just smooth all the way through
And you gotta love Dave Niehaus calling it.
@@MegaForrestgump absolutely, I’m a lifelong Twins fan so I loved watching the Kirby Pucketts homerun
Probably the most effortless swing in baseball history
Thanks for posting this. I just came across it today. I didnt have my Dad for the majority of my life. Im 48 and was 14 the last time i saw my dad, today happens to be the anniversary of his death. My best memories I have of him was baseball. Him teaching me how to hit, field and his love of thecgame.
Great stuff. That's what baseball is all about. Dad's passing it on to their sons. ⚾️
@@user-oz2cs7mw5jOr daughters. I had two girls, no son. My two daughters played baseball with the ferocity of Pete Rose.
Any highlight of Tony Gwynn brings tears to my eyes. He was literally EVERYTHING you wanted in a baseball hero. EVERYTHING!!!!
“How can you not be romantic about baseball?”
Tony G got me. RIP the best pure hitter of the modern era.
He was a prince of a man as well..... I Always had time for fans & was generous with autographs.
The Miguel one made me cry , Cabrera will always be forever a tiger legend
That Vogt one was one of the coolest baseball moments really Ever, how his Kids announced him Our Dad, it kind of Echoed then he comes up hits a immediate Home Run, I watched it again and it was really cool gave me a tear how 1 of a kind that was.
not even 20 seconds after he was announced by his kids he crushes one into right field, truely epic
I was rooting for Gwynn to hit .400 in 1994, and then the damn strike. Finished up with .394
Nothing beats that last at bat or last time on the mound. Most of these guys played for almost 20 years they became apart of your summer time life and when it was all over they still didn’t disappoint. Baseball still makes old men cry 😊
Sure does. I cried pretty much during the whole thing. That Mariano Rivera clip...
That Vogt clip tho! Talk about mixed emotions, went from tearing up as his kids introduced him then cheering when he hit that home run 🤘🏼
I should pin your comment at the top so the 3 people per day who don't know how to read a video title, or complain that clip is in the video, can read from someone else exactly why that great baseball moment is in there. Thanks for watching. ⚾️
We all have that last at bat, that last play you make. But we don’t get to know when it happens until after it happens. Having these moments for the players that earned it, is so cool to watch and be able to appreciate their work over years
Baseball is greatest game ever played!! Baseball in heaven let's go!!
That’s why it’s called a 💎
Softest sport, more like.
I am looking forward to when I can sit with my Grandfather, my Father, Harry Caray, Jack Brickhouse, Ron Santo, and Ernie Banks and watch a game of even play pepper with those legends.
@@josuebarboza9809 Says a person who has never eaten a 100 mph fastball.
@@darreleddings5901 thrown at someone who flipped his bat
Love the choice for the last one. I was like "HOW COULD THEY NOT INCLUDE-- oh there he is."
The NFL may be number one in the ratings, but baseball will always be number one in my heart. Incredible video.
Me too. Football sucks
@@jtothac5364baseball is more fun because everyone plays by the rules
NFL ratings just started dropping. One reason why they have the best ratings a very very shorter season
@@AristaRockLord Baseball is not as boring as people tell me
Baseball probably number one sport in the United States followed by the NFL.
RIP Tony Gwynn and Gary Carter 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Seeing Rivera leave the mound makes me tear up because he was so good for so long and the epitome of class and what baseball represents. To see his team mates come out to relieve him was a great moment. That Yankees team of the era was as good as baseball has ever seen with them conducting themselves with such professionalism, just outstanding! Baseball has had some great representatives over the years just like the ones in this video, the reason we fans continue cling to the game. It's always a sad moment when you see the curtain call but it usually just a mere passing of the baton to the next great legend to be. I still remember like it was yesterday when Chipper Jones was a rookie and man did he do the game proud.
Hank Aaron - final AB was an infield single against Detroit . I was there and got it on a VHS tape . The ‘ Hammer ‘ .
Awesome. You should see about getting it on file to UA-cam if it isn't already on here. Great memory.
Jeter’s puts tears into my eyes every single time such a class act on and off the field
3:16 Pretty sweet to see standing ovation from Pirates fans for Chipper. He's been hard on Pirates in playoffs. Awesome fans
Great no-tag on Mauer! Sportsmanship at its best.
Not trying to be a d1ck, but I don't think he was letting Mauer be safe. The throw was a bit off the bag. Even Javi Baez wasn't tagging him out.
Even as a Mets fan, Jeters last at bat was storybook and oh so right
Amazing
I gotta say this really moved me. Great careers for all these men. And everyone has their last “ at bat”. Thank you all for a lot of memories
where did you get this footage….geez…Mickey mantle….amazing video!
I was at the Gary Carter game, and it was indeed a magical moment. It's the longest standing ovation I've even been part of, and there were a few old timers that had to wipe their eyes.
RIP Gary Carter. Wasn't a Mets fan but I can appreciate greatness
And what a moment it was - I can't imagine anything better than Harry Carey or Vin Scully giving the play-by-play of your last at-bat...
I was like, "who the hell is Steven Vogt??? Why is Steven Vogt on here????" then I was like, "oh, that's why..."
Famous for the most gruesome nut shot in MLB history.
Great compilation, definite chills and great memories! You did a really good job putting this together.
A lot of GOAT'S
RIP Gwynn and Mickey
That Vogt clip was like a storybook fantasy. Your kids announce you and you hit a Homer. Couldn’t be any better than that!
difffernet inning vs a different pitcher
This video showed Tony Gwynn's final HIT, but his final AB came the following day, on October 7th, 2001. Tony came into the game as a pinch hitter in the 9th and grounded to shortstop. On that same game, Rickey Henderson got his 3,000th hit.
You nailed it. I left myself a little wiggle room in the title with "Farewells." That double is my farewell memory of the best hitter of my childhood. Your knowledge is spot on, though. I cheated with Griffey's clip, too. ⚾️
I was there...as a former Padres season ticket holder. Also his retirement ceremony. Very moving.
alan trammel and lou whitaker both deserve the hall of fame
Alan is in, alongside Jack Morris
I remember watching that game when Gary Carter got that hit. And the irony about it he went over one of his best friends head a form teammate in Andre Dawson. RIP Gary.
Mauer walking out of the dugout in catcher's gear was awesome.
Man.. I hate the Yankees, but Mariano at the end got me. You should definitely do one of these or a series of these for pitchers being pulled for the final time. For some reason that moment in baseball has always choked me up the most.
I can't watch Joe Mauer's last at-bat without crying, but the one that really brings the waterworks for me is when he stepped in to catch one last time in that final game. He tips his helmet to the crowd and I break down.
I’m not crying you are!!!!!!
I am getting emotional watch this
The cabrera one got me
Couldn’t even make it passed Griffey Jr
@@raygremaux5146 What his teammates did was genius.
There's no crying in baseball... Well, i'm crying.
Loved hearing Harry Carrey call Gary Carters RBI double.
I love how on some you can tell the defense is letting them have their moment and not taking it away from them. I love to see that
Amazing video!!! Just goes to show you how special these guys were. Even in their final at bat, they were able to concentrate and block out the crowd and nerves and get a base hit. Incredible!
Thank you. Nice to hear with all the complainers in the comments lol ⚾️
Kirby Puckett. His last at bat was a Dennis Martinez fastball to the face.
I've always hated the Yankees....but it's IMPOSSIBLE to hate Mariano Rivera.
Thanks for a great video!!!! I feel older now!!! ALL GREAT MEN IN THIS, AS WELL AS LEGENDS OF A GREAT GAME!!! Thanks again, God bless.
I was there for George Brett’s last game. Nolan Ryan was originally scheduled to pitch and it was also his last game. As a lifelong Royals fan that lives just a couple hours from DFW there was no question I had to be at the game b
Chipper Jones got the respectful fastball middle-middle
I’m a Mariners fan, but loved Chipper as a kid
This is SUCH a smart video. People love seeing the end of great careers so I appreciate the work you did on it (and the tears you gave me at 7:30 in the morning, ha ha!)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love how the Pirates fans cheered for Chipper too. Must suck to have that last AB be on the road, but I’m glad they gave a guy like him some props
Man I get chills whenever I see baseball being played in Montreal.
Still should be.
My 2 most admired players. Tony Gywnn and Mariano Rivera. Thank you.
This was the end of the era of where players played and sacrificed for a single team with the exception of a few. These were the good times when the sport was pure.
Exactly
And they blame “slow play” for the drop off in popularity. No - you just don’t give us a product to connect with emotionally anymore MLB.
All these pitchers were nice by pitching down the middle and fielders stopping short so they a get hit as well. Classy!!
When I heard Steven Vogt's kids introduce him I was rooting for a homer. That was awesome.
It was great. A lot of whiny "guys" in the comments complained I included him. Thank you for watching. Check out my other videos since you clearly appreciate ⚾️.
@@user-oz2cs7mw5jdon't know why you wouldn't. Vogt resurrected the A's after they collapsed when the zito/Mulder/Hudson era ended and made the games exciting to watch. Will be fun to see how he does with the guardians, he never had the body for baseball but he's a natural coach.
Chipper Jones definitely the best goodbye. Who else can say they received a gift from every team they played against during their final season.
Baseball is a poem a ballet and a love story all wrapped up in one. Pure Romance
This was great. Thanks.
Alot of these guys are the reason i love this sport most of all thwy meant so much in their own way today the game dont give that feel anymore
Thanks for including Rivera at end.
Cool to watch your channel…loved this video! New subscriber
I was at a Toronto Blue Jays game during Derek Jeter's final game and even the Blue Jays fan stood up and cheered as he came up to bat it was something I'll never forget
There's one of the so many reasons why Baseball has always and will always be America's Game! 🎉
Damn, majority of these I watched on TV. That was emotional!
13:30 The Gary Carter one was cool, it came full circle he was finishing out his career with his team where he made his name the Expos and his final hit was right over the head of Who? Of course Andre Dawson another former Expo great and teammate of Carter's.
There’s no Crying in BASEBALL!!! 😊 absolutely beautiful
Thanks for the memories!! Wow!!
Glad you enjoyed it
I got a little choked up when Ken Griffey jr hit that walk of RBI to win the game his final at bat. I'm a Twins fan. As such, we don't have a lot to do with the Mariners really. It's always the damn White Sox lol and Yankees! The mother****** Yankees! LOL. JK. Where would baseball be without he Yankees? Anyhow, It was emotional. KG jr is one of the true greats. Watching him retire was an end of an era for me. Never be another Ken Griffey jr. Irreplaceable. I wish we could have had that moment with Kirby Puckett. Sadly, he ended up losing his vision in his right eye due to glaucoma and never got to have his last at bat and a farewell from all of us who grew up watching him and loved him dearly. It was such a blessing having him play for the Twins. I'll never forget watching him hit a walk off homer in game 6 of the world series in 1991.
Tony Gwynn. Guy was magic with that bat, pitchers worst nightmare. R.I.P Mr. Gwynn!!
What a crew. T. Gwynn, R. Jackson, Ripken, G. Brett, STEVE VOGT !!! Junior Griffey. Steve Vogt, wow. Like Hendrix, Van Halen, Clapton, and Kenny Fuckin Loggins
Don't forget steve vogt
Lol an obvious Yankee hater
That is one of the greatest Baseball videos EVER!!!!!!!
When Jeter retired, we also heard the last of the great Bob Shepherd’s voice!
made me cry
Oh my , what a great idea this was !
This was NOICE!!
video perfectly made for ppl that cut onions! couldnt hold back tears vogt and MR42 at end
Excellent Job!
Thank you. Parts 2 and 3 will keep your love for the game going.
Oh, these are tears of joy
Fuck I love this fucking ball game
I am looking forward to more of these. I do hope that you show Kerry Wood's final appearance as a pitcher for the Cubs. May 18th, 2012, he went like he should have as well, with a strike out. The fans gave him a standing ovation for that.
Part 2 and 3 are already posted, my friend. I will remember Kerry for part 4. ⚾️
@@user-oz2cs7mw5j Okay my friend, I wasn't aware that there were 2 more posted. I will go and hunt them up and watch. Thanks for allowing me to offer a suggestion on content. I know this isn't mine, but I like to throw them out there to help out a bit.
@@user-oz2cs7mw5j I understand your frustration. Whiny people are very common because the feel that their favorite ball player was not on your video. I am grateful that you are considering it and that is all I deserve, because as I stated it is your channel not mine.
@@yankee_tangopart 4 is in the works. Anyone who tossed a 20k game gets a spot in my videos. ⚾️
@@user-oz2cs7mw5j Thank you very much, but seeing him get a strike out in his last appearance is also poetic for what he did as well.
I was at Riveras last game 😢 what a thing to be a part of
A lot of classy pitchers.
I remember seeing Bonds played in AAA in San Bernadino. They played the National Anthem, and people were laughing.
Bonds was in the outfield, but he stood there facing the outfield wall. The flag was behind home plate.
Excellent. I’m balling. Thank you. ❤ the evil empire
Last choice should the one of a kind n already legendary Miguel Cabrera!!
Nobody knew it was Griffey's last at-bat. He was having a bad season, he hadn't hit a Home Run at all that season, and so he got into his car and he drove. He said in an interview that he got on I-90 one night after a game, which in Seattle, is usually around 10pm, and he started driving. Griffey said somewhere around Montana (roughly 6 hours later, so around 4am) he called the Mariners GM and said "I'm retired". That's it. That's how Griffey retired from baseball, driving home, in the middle of the night, a couple days after his last hit.
I was at the game when Gary Carter hit a double, RIP the Kid we miss you
That's awesome ⚾️
I love baseball so much 😭
First on my list is #9 Ted Williams
Exactly idk how this guy didn’t include that smh
@patrickgoodman4576 SMH...This guy doesn't have a magic fairy whistle that makes 65 year old footage appear on command. I did eventually find a decent copy of the footage with no audio, so I had to dub the radio broadcast over it. It is in part 3 which I just finished tonight. Head over to that one and find something new to complain about.
@@user-oz2cs7mw5j thank you again!
Love the Mariano clip at the end!
Great video. Wish you had biggios on there! It was so awesome.
Part 2, my friend. On my channel.
very good
I remember watching Mariano Rivera’s last game. I even got emotional for that. That was my childhood watching him pitch and break bats
Being at Miggy's last game was amazing!
I was there too! Waited till the end, walked around Comerica Park, after visiting the Barry Sanders statue at Ford Field, few fans were waiting for his SUV to exit. Out he comes in a black SUV, MIGGY clowned around, and in another SUV his daughter had the window rolled down and said thank you for coming. They are raising good kids.
Amazingly enough the A's still play in the same stadium when Reggie Jackson took that final AB
Sorta. The coliseum is nothing like when Reggie was there and I miss it.
I love Baseball, its 1 for me, but you do know the Pitchers line um up right down the middle so they can go out with that memory for Everyone 👏👍
There’s no crying in baseball, they say, but sometimes you can’t help it.
Left the best for last..Well done..
