the amazon aluminum guitar

- I've been spending a lot of time focusing on aluminum guitars lately to try to dial in the rest of the tone for Nirvana's In Utero. I started experimenting and ordered aluminum from amazon and pieced together a Frankenstein build. It sounds awesome! This was a fun one.
Amazing to see all those projects you're working on. Keep it going man, you are inspiration for many of us.
Thanks Adam!
Not sure if you understand the positive impact you already have on the community but you’re going places bro! So happy to see you care for the people that watch your content and it’s greatly appreciated 🤙 Also a question I have is if there’s any update on the engine pedal and if you plan on releasing music in the future. Your intros are next level. Thanks
Is Seattle still as depressing?
😂
I know most people would call it that, but I actually think it feels super comforting, Seattle ain't for everyone, but it's def my type of vibe!
@@wesmitchem825 I live towards the mountains in a little town away from everyone so it’s just nature everywhere
This would be sick to actually acquire an affordable aluminum guitar! Stoked to see the progress.
Yes it’s depressing here when it rains
Aluminum sounds sick. I'd love to see a video about how you manufactured that guitar. It would be amazing to learn about how to recreate that tone in a relatively affordable way!
Your content is amazing, man. Can't wait to see more of your videos, Nirvana related or not :)
@AaronRash
The aluminum guitar has a natural envolope-filter-esque type sound to it.
that 3d cad model of a veleno is super impressive, i cant wait to see what you do with it!
I recently built an 'accurate' kurt jaguar, and ive found with how close the bridge is, and how kurt seemed to have set it up with high action, and the bridge tanked to the body, it gets a ringy/rattly sound alike to the aluminium, (not quite as bright), but it really really sounds like the pennyroyal 'clean' guitar.
I think the secret is when you use a vintage tremolo unit thats been hardtailed from the actual mechanism, along with that setup, which i think is combined with the veleno at some points throughout the album, its another really distinct sound, try it out on your jag!
It's amazing to see how far your project has come In under a month, thanks to your videos it's has peeked my interest in audio engineering. Thanks man love your videos keep it up.
if you got any tips for someone who wants to get into audio engineering it would be much appreciated.
Thanks man! I would just say to listen to a lot of your favorite music on headphones, it so much easier to really hear what's going on in a mix that way. For me at least
Always learn something new with each one of your videos. Keep it up your doing awesome work!!
been following your channel for a long time and i love how far you've come
Thanks for all your work to get the right tone, waiting for your next update already man!
Love all your videos Aaron, thx for everything
Can’t afford a veleno? Make one.
This dude is amazing
Amazing videos, cant wait for the rest of them, keep up with the amazing job👍👍
i love your content so damn much and you inspire the hell out of me!
These videos are the best! They're totally fascinating - please keep them coming! Also, I think those Guild pickups are the same as the ones Kim Thayil from Soundgarden has in his Guild S100's.
I love that im not the only one obsessed with nirvana tone
You're making a good point with it. Steve Albini and Bob Weston have been using aluminium Travis Bean guitar/bass for years in their band Shellac. They sound amazing.
So awesome Aaron! Love the gray cat too!
Another impressive video. WHile I consider myself a big Nirvana fan, I never did the deep dive into the studio-used instruments. Kurt's live rig seems to have been mostly pedestrian level gear with some exceptions. You really are nailing the studio tones.
This guitar sounds awesome I haven’t heard one sound this good it’s so cool😁🎸
Incredible content as always, Aaron!
Keep going Aaron, You're awesome!
That's actually crazy how good it sounds
Loving all of this Aaron. Aluminum guitars for all
Bro you are the best and youre doing Gods Work!! Please keep it up, slow and steady wins the race🔥❤️🎸
Amazing progress😎
My most favorite guitar that so happens to be made out of aluminum is a Tokai Talbo made in 1980. It doesn't have the kurt tones but it sounds amazing anyways.
Aaron- i really admire your quest for knowledge with this stuff. The amount of dedication you have is beyond admirable. I'm really hoping that you make an affordable replica of a Veleno. Especially that amazing Veleno headstock. If you do, I will buy one immediately. I've owned 3 EGC, and a Travis Bean, but have always wanted a Veleno. IMO they are the coolest of the aluminum guitars.
Aluminum guitarr!! To put out some affordable ones that would be so cool!! Can’t wait for the updates Aaron.
Love to get my hands on one of your Aluminum guitars, awesome idea
golden goodness as always bro!
I come from an instagram video that made your channel known, with only a few seconds you have made my eyes crystallize. Thank you for all this talent that you give us!!!! my God!
Leave it as a sheet and turn it into a mini plate reverb as well! Lol. Super cool Aaron! Live watching your videos.
Thanks for the video an showing us Aaron 😃
I’ve always wanted an aluminium guitar since I saw Buzz from the Melvins playing one, I’d love to see what you come up with!
Love your passion.
This has to be the absolute coolest channel on UA-cam. It’s a Dude who’s really good with cinematography and editing and overall detail oriented video production ventures into Kurt Cobain guitar and amp tones and accurate archival history and while he’s at it creates pedals and aluminum bodies for guitars. Cool f’ing dude man wow.
I love it when aaron uploads!
Hey, Aaron! Sorry for off-topic question, but did you ever consider that some amount of Nevermind's distortion could come from the Mesa Boogie's lead channel instead of DS-1? Butch Vig said, that he didn't like the sound of pedals and preferred amp distortion. We know that he allowed Kurt to bring in DS-1 anyway, but I wonder how much of it was actually used on the album.
I thought about that because I was playing through someone else's amp profile capture of a Mesa Studio 22's lead channel, and through the impulse response of a Marshall cab with Greenbacks it sounds suspiciously close to Nevermind's distorted tones.
@AaronRash
Good point!
mesa boogie used op-amps instead of tubes or transisters, so that's why it has a distorted tone rather than an overdrive or fuzzy tone, when pushed to it's limit.
Hey man love the videos as always man 👍🏼 The sound of weekly videos is awesome but please don’t burn yourself out for us.
that very first note you played made me think you were about to play Loser by Beck
I *did not* expect you to get involved in fabricating your own aluminum guitars. Those are so interesting to me, but for now so out of my reach financially. I will definitely keep an eye on your progress from here on out!
Great project man👍
There's also one tone I'm chasing for years now, it's the Dale session tone on January 1988. Endino recalls kurt using a Randall SS amp but kurt didn't have the commander by this time. And I don't think it was the Rg100es he played live by the end of 88. It's really sounding different, maybe a peavey or a sunn beta lead combo.
Would be nice if you'll investigate on this mystery.
Thanks man! Really love your videos.
✌
Dude I'm searching for the same tone! I think the Sunn is the closest so far for me
Amazing video Aaron! Respect what you do! I think you should try and make a Lindell or Teisco FB-29M/Ibanez Destroyer for a video.
as soon as i heard the first chord you played my brain immediately went to Pennyroyal Tea
Hey Aaron, any updates on your tone pedals? Good luck with the Aluminum guitar!
And if you’re still thinking about making them is there any way you could add something that sounds like the filter matrix to “The Engine” pedal? That would make it a must have!
Buen video.
Espero con ansias el modelo de la guitarra.
Buena suerte. 😊
Amazing! Do you think that's possible that Kurt used the aluminium guitar on the solo of Serve the Servants? It has that metallic sound that's really different from the rest of the song. Do we know something about this?
Wow. This is very cool
Please do endless nameless!! The tone on the clean that starts that song off is crazy!
just found your channel super sick that you're in seattle! i live like an hour north! subbed 🤝🏽
Dude, I’ll definitely buy one.
as soon as i heard the aluminum guitar i thought, “that’s the pennyroyal tea guitar”
Just a heads up. I've played the Veleno at Electrical without knowing its rarity or its history until after I was done playing it. It is the best guitar I have ever played. It is almost impossible to get the sustain the Veleno has going your route. But.very cool nonetheless. Whenever you talk to Steve, ask him if they switched the nut before or after Minnesota. The story goes Kurt asked Steve to bring one of his aluminium guitars, but I don't know how he would've known Steve even having them as Shellac just got started and Steve didn't use ant aluminum guitar in Big Black or Rapeman. The Veleno story is by far what I want to know the most when you make it here to Chicago. Keep it up, I love this stuff!
good stuff aaron! jesus christ you are awesome
No wayyyy, ur gonna make aluminum guitars? Ima need one man they sound awesome
Hey Aaron! Was thinking maybe when your done making Nirvana tone videos do you think you can do other tone recreations with bands like Smashing pumpkins, Muse, etc
He uploaded! Today is a good day 🙏
Hi Aaron! I've always been a fan of what you do ever since I've seen your videos. I remember you said in one of your videos that you had knowledge on how to build amps and pedals. How do I get into that? If I wanted that to be my career, where would I start and do I need to go to college? I've always been fascinated by the engineering part of it and I want to learn how to build amps for a living
Hey Aaron, love your videos. You’re adding so much to the community.
Could you drop the name of the aluminum guitar company with the waitlist?
Rave me was most definitely on a Veleno now that you played that. I can get my Fano close, but that Veleno is spot on. Yeah I said “Rave” well because its 2024 and the ppl these days 🙄. And I’m a lover of p90’s, I have guitars with them just in the neck and also guitars with them in both bridge and neck and dang, they have a sound that I love. However to each his own and you are much better with sound than me bro. Love the content. I’m binging all your vids.
Dude that thing sounds sick. You'd be a legend if you could share the CAD files to your fellow poor musicians 😉
Hey man, love your videos. I think your tones sound more like Kurt’s than his did 😂
Did you ever recreate the Come as you are tone with the Yamaha rack unit?
Can’t wait to see how the aluminium project turns out 🤌🏼
Aluminium guitar from you sounds sick af. Btw, will you use that aluminium sound in your tracks, cause it would be awesome imo
So at some point you'll be making and selling both the aluminium guitar and the engine pedal? Love your work Aaron keep it up.
Awesome video man
Thanks bro!
@@AaronRash no problem
Any plans for a release of the engine pedal? Thanks for your time.
hey aaron, i wanted to ask if I could use your music in the beginning of videos for the ost of a nirvana series im making if its okay with you, thanks for all the great content btw 🙏🏽 ✌️
No prob bro, go for it!
@@AaronRash thank you so much aaron i cant thank you enough, i will credit you for your work. thank you!
Keep up with it!!
Even though the come as you are guitar was the moserite, can you make a tone recreation video on come as you are. Also thank you for answering my question on the video before this one.
The aluminum is brighter than the Farington
What do you use your Robert's 770x reel to reel for in your studio?
+ you are genuinely my favourite youtuber :)
Do you think that the In Utero Sessions version of "Sappy" that was released on the NO Alternative soundtrack, they were unlisted, it was also re-released on the Nirvana box set , With The Lights Out Disc 3. Was recorded with the Aluminum guitar?
Can you please do a video for endless nameless on never mind? The clean tone that starts that song off is crazy,I can’t figure out how to even get close to that tone.
Hey Aaron!, what guitar do you think milk it was recorded with?, big fan of the videos btw!!!
Would you ever consider doing a pink floyd tone vid? Great vid as usual btw
ive been watching your videos for a while and all i can think about it like,
man i wish all of my favourite bands had some super nerd to hyperfocus on every piece of their gear so i can get their exact sound
i was wondering if some time you could check out pinkertons weezer and see how you like it and see if you wanna dabble in creating that kind of sound as well
your shit is cool man thanks for all of your hard work !
You are underrated
I didn't know that I wanted to make an aluminum guitar on my CNC until now!
Yesss! I'm just getting into the world of CNC, its incredible!
Please make it left handed as well. Kurt was a lefty as well as a lot of us out there!
Hola Aaron!
What equipment do you use to make this amazing videos?
@aaronrash Sup Aaron. I was wondering jf you can do a video on The guitar tone from 'in Bloom' (Alternate version)?🤘
Can you put another pickup in the aluminum guitar and show some comparison? I'd like to know how much the aluminum does.
Id love to see a video or some sort of schematic for how to make an aluminum neck, a ton of the pre made ones are 900$
You should do a Patreon and post some schematics up there
Excited for this build . Btw You must have an awesome and supportive wife
What’s your opinion of what butch said on the interview with Rick beato, to the clean sounds on Slts was a vox ac30.
Awesome
Man what is do for an aluminium guitar 😂😂😂 fr though I’ve been watching you for a while and I really love your stuff 💙
I would like to ask a question about a video "kurt cobain guitar tone". i want nevermind sound. but I don’t understand a little, do I need to record specifically one cab or all the speakers at once?
What about the aluminum guitars that Buzz Osborne from The Melvins has been using for quite a few years now?
you should try and recreate the tone for Here She Comes Now
What’s your favorite grunge band other than Nirvana? Also, love the vids 🤙
What would be some good alternatives/clones to the echflanger?
Any update on your aluminum guitars ? Would love to own one.
l also live in Seattle Aaron, and yep. To everyone who doesn't live here, it's been pretty depressing these past few days.
I like to know what method you used to learn guitar. My kid is trying.
Could you do a come as you are tone video?
Hey can you give us an update on the engine pedal
Can you do Negative Creep?
Hey, are you planning to share or sell your CAD models? I'm a left-handed player myself and would love to mirror that design and take it to a CNC shop
Holy shit man i'd love to see you with your own guitar company!! You know i'm buying, if international shipping haha. #newzealand
