Thanks Chris. I will be testing the middle and higher speed with these slugs when I get more samples. I will push them 850 and 950 fps if possible to see if these 34 & 36gr would hold better groups.
Super cool messing with these guns because I too have the MKII 700mm .22 and mine prefers the .216” because the .217” are really tight closing the breech so it’s obviously a tighter lead.. here’s what I’ve found, the superior liner is 1:24 twist and the 700mm slug liner A I bought has a 1:15 twist (everyone says slugs like speed and to be spun faster) then on top of it the superior heavy in 700mm .22 is 1:16 very close to slug liner A) but the 25.39g knockouts fly remarkably better from the slower twist rate superior liner.
Ya, all barrels are different and they prefer different sizes of ammo as well. I have the slug A since day one and it seems to work fine for me with the H&N gen 2 25gr slugs. Maybe I should try a different liner. My Impact is 600mm.
@@AirRiflePestings I was out testing today and tuned to 930 FPS with the JSB Knockouts, power wheel on 4 and hammer spring about 2-3 turns back from tight and front valve seemed to tube well around 2-3/4 lines. That’s with the slower twist superior. Hey it can’t hurt for you to try another liner and see what that slower twist will do. Keep us posted good luck
I was just testing the new heavy with my current setup at the time to see how they would perform at slower speed. And they do group well at 50 yards with 800fps. I will be doing more tests with higher reg pressure to see how they group at faster speed. Thank you for watching.
Slugs like speed, and the higher speed helps keep them stable in flight. Any slug will perform best between 900 to 1000fps. On average 950 to 1000 groups the best. Also with these heavy slugs it's a must to use the STX heavy slug liner. I have a friend who personally knows and shoots with Gerhard (Air hunter Gerhard). Gerhard went to H&N and helped develop these slugs. He usually shoots them between 950 to 1000fps. Nice video though.
My FX Maverick FAC .25 is pushing 33gn Apolo slugs (yes ONE L) washed/lubed & weight checked at 1050fps & 65 ftlb. At 50 yds its pellet on pellet, without the need for a slug liner. I suggest you increase the power settings & try the Apolo's from Ihunter. Happy days..
yes. I agree. Just wanted to show that at slower speed some of the slugs can do well as well. I will doing more testings with higher speed next time out. Thanks for watching.
I didn't. These were sent to me directly from H&N. I am starting to test the .218 size and they performed much better in my Impact than the .217 size. I will be posting a follow up video with the 34 gr at a higher speed. Thanks for watching.
So far they do with the Orion's insert. I just need to adjust the spring tension so the 40 gr slugs will rotate better. But 34 and 36 gr will be my focus as I don't need to shoot anything heavier than that. I don't want to crank up my reg too high to risk damaging the internal.
Yes, the .217 are not released to the public yet. H&N sent them to me to test. I will be testing the .218 as well when I get them so I can compare both in my Impact. Thanks for watching.
No. I am only testing them to see what speed and which weight are best for my Impact MK2. I would use them for coyotes only. I would never shoot the pigeons with these heavies. Thanks for watching.
yes I agree. This was just my preliminary test as I just did a quick test last Saturday. I only raised my reg to 125 Bar from 115 Bar, but I will increase the speed to do another test to compare. Thanks for watching.
yes I know. I was just testing them at my current setting during the filming of this video. I have since increased the reg and hammer spring to shoot a bit faster. My prefer slug weight is 23gr for my purpose as I don't need anything higher than that. Maybe when I do some coyote shooting then I might choose the heavier slugs.
@@AirRiflePestings ok I understand But your video didn't do the slugs any good . Because at the right speed you be shooting one hole groups at that distance. Keep up the good work

@@FYMM69 nice tune. Ya I have to go out and do some more tuning as well.
Thank you, some real good information.
thank you for watching Henry. I will be doing some more testings with higher speed and see how these Heavies perform in my Impact.
38 grain is the way to go Alex. Great video my friend.
Thank you. I will need to push these heavies faster and see what happens.
great video lots of good info i just got into pcp shooting and im adicted
thank you and have fun shooting PCP. It is a wonderful hobby thats for sure.
Why do you shoot them so slow ? 950-1000 would be more adequate I think . I baight 1000 of those in 25 caliber , im really hoping to group sub moa .

Thats great result and I will see if I can get my hands on these Apolo slugs.
I would try lighter slugs in .217, and get the larger ones in .218 just to test. It seems to be the way to go for impacts.
I have tried the .218 and they shot a lot more consistent and better in my Impact. Video to follow soon. Thanks for watching.

Thank you. I will do more comparison with higher speed once I receive more slugs from H&N. Thanks for watching.
Why are these lead slugs significantly more expensive than .22 long rifle ammunition??
Can you shoot 34-40 grain slug in Slug liner A , 600 mm barrel ? Or you should prefer superior heavy liner .22 ?
Hi Anom, I am actually shooting the 600mm Slug liner A. I never got the superior heavy so I don't know if they perform better or not.
Can slug liner A can shoot 34 grain slug ??
My Impact MK2 has the 600mm slug liner A.

You sure those 217 ? Because H&N release Heavy in 218 … the 217 not released yet I believe

837 FPS for 34greins Slugs is sooooooo slowly, try 930 FPS

@@DavidJR46 I will definitely increase my Reg and see what happens. Just waiting for my supplies to arrive.
They work very well around 975-980 fps. Might have to bump that reg passed 150 bar bc of 600 mm barrel.

probably, but if they group well at lower speed then thats okay by me, lol.
