I am a native speaker and fluent in Samoan. I want to say faafetai uso. You have done a phenomenal job here breaking it down for those who really want to learn the language. My kids are half Samoan and this is a great resource for them to see the hows and whys things are the way they are. I cannot teach that part of the language. Maybe I can do a little bit of it but I would probably knock them on the head a few times before they get it, so it is best to stay off it. Please keep it up uso, malo lava faafetai.

Hi Jacob, I'm half Samoan and planning on going to Samoa end of the year and speak the language better. It's amazing how you picked it up so quickly. Good work fa'afetai lava!

Malo Le soifua, I’ve been trying to find a channel to help me with my Samoan mainly with conversation replying as I understand the language 100% when spoken to but never put the effort to learn (regretting not listening to my parents 😂😂) thanks for your channel 👍🏽👌🏾

This is great! One thing that I was always taught was that if you were leaving to meet at another spot within the same visit/day, you use fekaui but if you're leaving and you won't be seeing the person again (within the same day) you use feiloa'i but I'm American and by no means fluent in Samoan so I'll def. take into account what you've stated here. Keep up the great job!

You never know, I may have it wrong too 😁 I’m still learning stuff all the time. Learning it as a second language means there are plenty of opportunities to misinterpret.

hey bro how long did it take you to understand fluent samoan??

    • @JacobSmith-ce8gn

Hard to say, i had formal language lessons for two months before I went to Samoa but before I left I could understand quite a bit, as long as what the topic was supposed to be about :) I think it was about a year before I felt like I could understand most things and ask questions for stuff I didn’t understand. But honestly even today , there are still somethings I don’t get in the first time hearing it, but I’m like that with English too so I think you just got to be patient and always willing to learn

If you have any advice, corrections, or suggestions please let me know. But yeah, I definitely wasn’t thinking many fluent Samoan speakers would be watching this 😆 Fa’amoemoe ka ika ou ke le ka’ika’i sese se isi lol
