I love all the videos I come across I am currently learning to speak Samoan I’m Afakasi & me my sister & brother were not taught to speak it yet were spoken to but we also feel it is disrespectful to respond back in English… So it’s a learning process but thank you for teachings I’ll be watching ❤️🤙🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
I'm full Samoan but born in The States. My wife is from American Samoan born and raised. So I'm here trying my best to learn simple phrases and words to better my samoan speaking bc eventually I want to be able to hold a conversation in Samoan with my wife.

Your phrases are correct but when you ask for age I hear "e fia ou tauaga" more often. And answering you go like "e fitu-sefulu lua ou tausaga" or just say the number "fitu lua". I'm not 72 btw just an example lol. Your voice is so pretty
Hello. In our school, we have students from different nationalities, among those a couple of Samoans. I want to write a welcome message in different languages but I don't want to do it incorrectly. Could you help me? I would really appreciate it! Welcome back to school. we are so happy to see you again! Toe fo'i mai ile aoga. matou te fiafia tele e toe feiloa'i!
of course you can but you would be speaking in Hawaiian. Aloha has many meanings in Hawaiian it can be hello (talofa in Samoan), good-bye (tofa) and even love (alofa in Samoan. Both beautiful languages, but both different.
Just a small correction on that phrase how old are you. You would ask in samoan 'E fia ou tausaga'?. Ans in Samoan. E fa sefulu lua. You dont use *oute* in this case.
I rememeber when I was younger my dad got me with that one "o ai lou suafa?" He corrected me when I responded using "suafa" hehe. As for your age... you're lying, you look way young then me & I'm 2yrs younger 😆
@@MeasinaSamoaI suppose you should say when asking for the age of a person. "E fia ou tausaga?" That would make sense in the language we are familiar with, I believe sometimes Samoan phrases cannot be translated in the English version structure of the phrase. "E fia tausaga a oe?", does not sound right and it is not used when we speak the language. Ae malo lava faafetai mo le galuega matagofie o le faalauiloaina o le tatou gagana.
How old are you ? E fia ou tausaga, not e fia tausaga a oe Correct answer - E (age) o'u tausaga, or can reply with just the age number - not ou te (age)
