  • It's been sixty years since Wolves last lifted the FA Cup. Watch extended highlights as nearly 99,000 watched Wolves win at Wembley. Two goals from Norman Deeley and an own goal meant manager Stan Cullis and captain Billy Slater were victorious in leading Wolves to the cup.

Superb commentary.... some good stuff. I see the curse of the offside was getting us back in the old days too!!

Loved Peter Broadbent, can you think of a better inside forward/ midfielder?

Kenneth Wolstenholme, the match commentator, throughout the game called Derek Dougan "Duggan" also playing for Blackburn that day was Ally MacLeod who became Scotland Manager "We're on the march with Ally's Army" and Dave Whelan, who broke his leg in the Final and in later life owned Wigan F.C for a period of time. At the end of his career The Doug said playing for Wolves at Molineux was the best time in his football career. UTW

I think that he posted a transfer request on the way to the match. Or was that the semi-final?
I think that he continued to live in Wolverhampton after he retired.
As for the match, good to see a real football, and real football; and I always remember Harry Leyland's vicar outfit.

Broke his own leg by making a poor challenge then bravely blamed the late Norman Deeley

Could have been 6 nil... They play a lot like the modern team. A bit stronger in terms of physicality and nowhere near as fast as the modern team. Amazing to watch the city highlights then this.

Had Derek Dougan not declared himself fit ( when he wasn't) and Dave Whelan not broke his leg it would have been a different scenario. Rovers played with 9 men for most of the game. No subs in them days

Judging by this wolves could have won 6-0.

Hey Wolves, I tweeted you guys as well. Today’s my birthday & was wondering if I could get a shout out through the account from Adama / Raul or a signed jersey from them. I became a huge fan ever since Raul came and have been obsessed with Wolves. It would truly mean a lot since it’d be my birthday. If not, it’s ok. WOLFES CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BOUND BABY.
