That waterfall level remake is something I've always wanted! So cool! Lava level would be awesome too. I also love the atmosphere of the purple gem path in crash 1. I would love to see a full level like that too

I'm not going to lie, these level concepts (even if they're not finished yet) look extremely fascinating! I also love how you had the same idea as the devs of Crash 4 of showing you parts of the level long before you get there, even though you were working on this way before Crash 4 was actually released! Of course your own responsibilities take priority, but if this actually comes to fruition some day it will the greatest thing that happened to Crash since he was revived in 2017 and I will definitely play the hell out of it :D
PS, regarding 25:02: Gone Tomorrow from Crash 3 does something very similar, there is a switch crate in the gem route that activates outline crates you passed in the main level

I always said that all they needed to do was make a new game in the spirit of the n sane trilogy and they failed. I love the original trilogy but hate crash 4

Thanks a lot for such an amazing and insightfull video. It is truly fantastic. Your re-interpretation of Crash 1 is what should have been an official videogame. Your gamedesign ideas are sometimes jaw dropping. I love the Native fortress camera stuff (that you can se where you have been), making escape from castle playable, the branching parts in Upstream and Nsanity beach and making the skull as an important element in the level. Also hats down for making those levels conected. Honestly, respect for this project, hope you'll finish it one day. Good luck with the editor :)

Honestly, you've thought of everything in those levels, how they've built, to what comes next etc. I love it, I honestly think that anyone would love to play this. It looks absolutely stunning.

16:00 YES, I'm not alone in thinking that is a cool design detail! I have also always thought that seeing the goal you are trying to reach is super cool. I also loved how it was handled in the Titans games.
A short cutscene of crash being tossed around by waves all night and eventually getting spat out on N. Sane beach would be nice. I always wondered how crash got so far away so quickly. Or maybe you have a different idea about how he got hundreds of miles away? Either way, small transition scenes is my main suggestion here. I love the concept you have here man.
That would be so cool if possible. Though I feel like he should maybe hire an good animator or someone to do that scene.

Totally down with you doing this remake, but the Level Editor has to be Priority No.1 before attempting any kind of projects like this, which will be amazing once we can start editing levels and then building on the editor over time with new updates!

this remake is really awesome, and I hope you eventually continue it, even if it's unplayable nad only made to watch, I'm really curious about the ideas you have for the future! It's always nice to see fans getting creative and creating their own versions of their favorite game.
for the bosses would be interesting to see either the same bosses in different places, or new bosses added to the game (from the rest of the trilogy), but both ides are probably too hard

It looks and feels alot like Wrath of Cortex, the faithfulness and expanding on it is there, but the suckage seemingly is abscent.
You really deserve way more views for this. Can't imagine the time this takes for you to make. And how you make your living. But I hope this doesn't affect you and it's just a big hobby you love. Respect my guy.

This is the best thing I've seen on UA-cam.. Crash Bandicoot is forever etched into my existence since I was a kid and this feels like an honorable homage to the whole series.. I would give up time and money to be able to run through this..!
I won't talk about the camera much as it can be a bitch to handle, but your work's crystal clean. The crates are wonderfully placed, the environments look lush and captivating in terms of presenting more and connecting levels a lot closer to one another, new ideas are implemented somehow or attempted upon, which is neat and some challenging but clever bits that give me bits of ideas to ponder on too. Now for some slight critiques.
1st map: The player's getting swarmed with lab assistants from the get go, which is cool. However, I think a little breathing window before the first chase, would do wonders. Plus, those Nitro Crate boxes which you kinda admitted were there to show something cool anyway :P.
2nd map: Not very much other than the long wait in the second death route platform (hope there's a way to adjust said platform speed someday).
3rd map: The camera's wonky spots towards the middle of the level, before the boulder chase as well as the lack of incentive to be chased by it (You can just let it roll and still finish the chase in a few spots. Maybe place some crates in the stream bit that would break from the boulder to give the incentive or so.)
4th map: Mostly collision stuff as you pointed out and the plants being there for show. Still, I like the detonator crates from Twinsanity repurposed.
5th map: Appreciate the aesthetic and the bonus round's a fine placeholder for the time. Still, the little rocks that fall have little space, making screwups a lot easier. Plus, the camera on top of the waterfall's too far from the players's position to really see. Guess it is tough to manage a camera.
So there you have it. My thoughts on your latest video's work.

The moment you said there is a lower jaw for the large skull an idea popped into my head, you could use the lower jaw further down stream (in the level Upstream) as an obstacle to cross and then when you make it to the waterfall level you can go "Ah ha!" As you see the large teeth you had to overcome came from the large skull head on top of the water fall.
I don't even know if that is possible, but it would be a fun idea to do, I would have to try it when this editor comes out!

This is amazing! I've ben a fan of Crash ever since the original. This is the sort of remaster the franchise deserves, and all done by a single person in a home-made editor. Were I someone with power at Activision, you'd have a job offer headed your way.
Honestly from what ive seen from the modding videos some of the concepts for your levels are really cool and as a big crash fan it makes me really excited to eventually be able to play them I really hope you do find the time to keep up the work but your health comes first so i would say if you do find the time keep at it as your doing a great job so far.

The Great Gate honestly reminds me of the monkey business quest from Runescape lol. I love the progress you've made so far, it's looking really good.
Just found this and really liking what you're putting together. Hope you manage to go forward with this as it looks great. Personally prefer the levels to be a little shorter/have a little less in than what you've got (due to playing the entire level again for 1 box).
The top of the Skul would look awesome as an end to Upsteam with the waterfall following Up The Creek to Ripper Roo. Definately on to something here

I think so too, Crash 1 to me is like an adventure that you go on, as you go from one level to another, and the levels do connect well to one another, for the most part. I enjoyed Crash 1 and this is a great point you brought up. It’s a cool idea to reimagine what the game could be like with some changed sections of the game and showing how things come together. 😀

Something about the boulder part I love is that you (the player) have seen this angle before when you got chased in the castle so even if they didn't know about the boulder levels they would feel a bit off.

Love the idea of you opening up the levels especially the great gate. When I was younger and couldn't play properly I couldn't get past the great gate so I had an idea that I was just going to run off to the side at the start and go round it 🙈😂 which obviously didn't work!

honestly i love this idea, this is sort of what i'm hoping for in NST (but that will ruin the charm and trend).
So far it felt like a genuine adventure of Crash where every level felt unique and interconnected, it tells you a story
And also the camera is not just static to Crash's back
I wanted to play or see this whole project so i can see my dreams and made it some sort of inspiration in the future
I would love to create levels using that editor! I hope this project ends up getting finished!

Been a Crash fan since 1 released. This is impressive. I hear questions or uncertainty throughout your video.
1) for the continuity between levels make the end of each Crash doing his hump dance on the platform and use that as a "level 2"/"level 3"/level 4"/etc starting point to keep the overworld and allow people to go back to each starting point.
2) keep up the branching paths and make your own way to a twinsanity/og crossover. It's looking fresh
3) keep the difficulty high. Don't let people tell you it seems too hard because that's what leads to things like the Dark Souls clones that adhere to easy modes in games. Not saying Crash is a Dark Souls level game, but any true Cash Banooca fan won't appreciate a "babies first"
4) do more camera transitions, that might help the boulder section that looked weird when it immediately rolled to the right
5) stop taking influence from Crash on the run. It's a Temple Run Crash game and most fans don't appreciate its inclusion, so you'll lose a lot of momentum if you keep that game in your mind as an influence. CTR is Crash Team Racing, not that mobile trash.

It’s really good, I actually thought you’d used the crash 4 engine to get it behaving properly!
Suggestion? When you’re in the great gate Crash could be ‘inadvertently’ be wrecking the natives village inside the compound with the boulder, so that when you get to Papu Papu it explains why he’s so angry and attacking you. (Maybe the nitro was placed around hut and wall foundations by cortex and when you trigger them it destroys their village too? A great background animation at level end) and then along with upstream you’re destroying their entire river infrastructure too.
for your information when talking about skull route affecting main path; in the level "gone tomorrow" in warped, around the end of the green gem route, there was a metal ! crate that spawns a crate on main path.

Its crazy, most Crash mods Ive seen are better than the About Time. Im not a big video games fan at all, but Crash is a game I would still play.

I love you're trying to link your levels, I'm mostly interested in your interesting level design - how the platforming adventure seems more unique and explorative #ilovetwinsanity curving rivers I hope you don't use the nst crash because it's too fury and too goofy expression imo.
I'm actually working on a series of kart levels on FNCREATIVE based on ctr & Twinsanity so I'm appreciating how you are expanding (lore) story, locations etc such as how you've made the fortress a 3D structure to play through, including objects what Twinsanity had given. I'm loving how you're doing things like changing directions, verticality, finding routes, being creative with camera angles, etc.
Funny how we're both implementing 'big TNTs'. Yeah I think you should work an caves in that upstream ruin wall kind of level.
I hope the quantity is long enough to feel like a full game, and that I could use a console controller to play it.
Waterfall reference near the end - yeah I think I'll do a shortcut with one lol. I hope you do somewhat difficult boss levels.

Crash 4 being in Unreal Engine has some advantages concerning custom levels, but I prefer this game's art style and its mechanics are distinct from Crash 4, so I'm still really excited about this.

It's hard. But if it's a fangame, it's ok. If it's an official game, people complain.
But this is very good. Crash 4 physics are better than nst, but nst is still a good game and with it can be done many nice levels
Edit: I have to ask, do you plan on modding crash 4? Crash 4 uses unreal engine, i don't know if you can mod in that engine but if you can, you could make some really good levels. I mean, if you can make these nice levels in nst, imagine in crash 4 that has so many nice levels and ideas: fire crates, crates-only puzzles and interesting challenges, nitro jump crates, better physics (closer to original) and very good controls and mechanics, nice designs....... *SO MANY THINGS*
Seriously, society is annoying nowadays, they complain about anything, and they wouldn't complain if it was an old game. People like to enjoy the game complaining about it, not playing. People like to invent shit to say only because it's a new game, big fanbases of good franchises are always getting worse, and we will reach a point that these annoying crybabies will ruin the franchise because nothing they do is good, everything is bad and trash.
I'm saying this because i know some idiots think this about crash 4, but as a die hard original crash bandicoot trilogy platformer style fan, crash 4 is easily the best crash bandicoot game ever made because it's creative, a pretty game, challenging because crash bandicoot MUST be challenging, it has a good ost (same level as the original trilogy) that feels like crash bandicoot.... Well, crash bandicoot 4 did almost everything right, it doesn't matter what these stupid people have to say.
Concluding, crash 4 is a very good game with some very nice challenges and ideas and graphics and designs and controls and mechanics and features, so i wanted to know if you are gonna mod crash 4

Holy shit I am blown away by what is presented. This is nothing like I thought it was going to be. And the attention to detail is spot on. Exactly everything I would want from a game developer. This mod truly comes off as a sort of Resident Evil 2 remake in how drastically different it is but is the same story. Had I not known any better, I would of said this seems official.
You still need to make jungle rollers in between level 2 and 3

the escape level can be simply put later on as a flashback or put in as an optional level, making the "unfair" difficulty a non-issue
