Anyway, I believe the fact that so many couples live together w/o being legally married, esp where children are concerned, makes it too easy to leave (not you! you had good reason to leave!!), & is why we have so many single parent households. Kids really do need 2 LOVING parents to reach their best adulthood! They learn from both! My Daddy made sure I could do household (I can wire in light switches, outlets & thermostats, change door locks & if I still had the strength, even some carpentry & plumbing!) & simple vehicle repairs (before cars became computerized) & Mama taught me how to keep house, cook, sew (& crochet), & grow our own food. I learned how to raise my kids from both of them, but mostly from Mama. Though I'm divorced now, for 29 yrs, I don't believe in easy divorce either, nor abortion for birth control. There are consequences to our actions, & I certainly have had to live w/ mine. Again, I am NOT preaching! I just hope you learned from this & won't put yourself in a similar situation. Depending on where you are located - reach out to a victims advocacy center. The state I live in has designated funds that go to advocacy centers that can be used to give door locks/security cameras/ etc free of charge to people who need them. I’m not sure how old this post is considering the masks are still referenced so perhaps this won’t be of any help to see now, but at least in the state I am in victims have rights and are allowed to have a designated advocate present at all court proceedings in addition to any counsel. In terms of a restraining order - I would be shocked if one was not given due to the circumstances. Having a judge cite you for violating an existing order is almost a sure fire way to have that order extended. Anyways if anyone in the comments needs advice on domestic violence or victim advocacy I highly recommend doing some research into local centers. Just make sure you are prioritizing your safety more than anything else.
