He never said anything against the torture . He asked the oppressed people to surrender to the white rulers and follow the non-violence path . As a result , the British picked up the Indian leaders and hanged them .

You said Gandhi religion aur state ko separate entity mante hy but I have read gandhi said religion is not just limited to personal or family affair it is universal matter and state can't be separate from religion that is why even he talk about RAM-RAJYA ( means state as much happy& moral as during the time of) Ram ) ,and even I have read it even in Machiavelli philosophy that Machiavelli see religion and polity totally different and personal matter whereas in Indian philosophy especially gandhi says it is inseparable ..... please do clarify

I think Gandhi believed that religion would be interfered in state so that politicians could afraid about to do immoral things.
