- Connect Rode Video Mic Go II to iPhone
In my opinion, the best mic for content creators right now is the Rode Video Mic Go II. This is also the time of the year where everybody starts gearing up for big launches at the start of the year and many of you will be launching new content or you in the midst of doing so now and probably with your iPhone. Using Air Pods is ok but you want to make sure your audio game is pristine and one of the ways to do that is by connecting the rode video mic go II to your iPhone.

What mic are you using with your iPhone?
I’m gonna be using this one Walter! 😅damn your my newest favorite reviewer!!! Your videos are on point!!!
Please keep it up. Early supporter here ❤I’m glad I found you here. 👊
Rode Wireless GO II
Brother the app doesn’t work it’s keeps saying connect a Rode device
@@JustKhali The app only works with Rode SC15 cable
Thank you! Knowing exactly what extra cords and things to get was complicated - couldn't have done it without you!
Glad I could help!
Really good video man, good advice and help! Love the setting of your video as well with the lights and backdrop etc. one thing that was just a little distracting was the background music, not trying to bash or anything just honest opinion from one creator to another. Your personality and content is really good, you don't need background music to spice up your video. It's perfect just as it is my friend :) Keep goin!
I really appreciate that and will definitely take that into consideration. I do find myself wanting to do without the music more so this serves as confirmation.
I agree! Your personality and on screen presence is captivating enough but I do like music in the background for a lil vibe so maybe just making it a little softer in the background would be that perfect balance ☺️ but amazing video I’ve been debating on whether I should get this mic as a UGC creator and I think your review really confirmed it for me 👍🏽 keep up the amazing work!!
Amazing video man! Just picked this up for my wife! Hope she loves it!
Thank you for explaining this very well! I just bought this mic 😊
You're welcome! Glad to hear it! Hope it treats you well!
Love the breakdown here homie great job. All the other videos just say this is what it looks like, you actually showed your screen and it’s on a 14 Pro like my phone. Came for the info, subbed for the vibes.
I appreciate it!!
Thanks Walter, you went to the point and explained everything I needed to know.
Great! Glad to hear it. Thank you.
Love your vibe! So glad I found your channel. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 great content, value, entertainment ✅ ✅ ✅
Welcome aboard! Thank you so much!
This is a very informative video and has everything I was looking for to understand my new Rode videomic go 2. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Your content and video production is awesome! Thanks for the sound advice...pun fully intended😄🙏👍
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Thanks for this video. Very precise and complete.
I like your content 🙂
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Thank you man ❤
Great video. Answered a question I was looking for in regards to audio quality at different distances. Buying it now
Thank you. I hoped it ended up working!
Hey man, can you link me to the microphone mount you have to that tripod ? Great video
i have an iphone 6 with a 3.5mm jack connector, do you think it will work?
I have to admit, I was a little bit disappointed. Not in your video just the product in general. So I bought this video mic go to from Best Buy a couple of days ago and they picked it because it specifically said on the outside of the box that it was made for iPhone, iPad, and iPod. The sales person at Best Buy also handed me a USB C to lightning adapter, however, it was just a generic. So I get home and open up the box to find it. There were no instructions whatsoever on how to do anything. Find out that the cord that comes with it doesn’t work with an iPhone without getting a special cord and the headphone adapter. And then find out the USB-C to lightning cord doesn’t work either because it isn’t the rode brand. and because there were no instructions, your video was the best I found to figure things out. By the way, your video was great I’m just disappointed and the labeling and marketing of the product that was very misleading.
So i have to watch this boring 13 mins video to understand how to get this mic to work with iphone?
@Apurvk Sorry you feel that way but I appreciate the comment! Feel free to use the chapters to skip ahead!
@Apurvk 🚨It ain’t broke…fix it anyway ‼️ #shorts #contentcreator
@@ApurvkNo, you just have common sense and take ONE look at the product‘s website to know this.
People lazy, just want people to tell them what to get, without own research.
And when they trust strangers, not knowing if THEY know any real info at all about product and it doesn’t work.. they flood the comment sections to complain that a product sucks.
Will this mic work for Facebook live streaming on a iPhone 15?
How do you go beyond the page with the audio settings? I want to record and export audio files
Bro, your video nailed it and answered all my questions. Thanks so much!
Great! I'm glad to hear it!
Appreciate the Info Big Homie!
Great job man
really useful video. thank you! Only one i have seen so far that mentions the SC 19 cable!
Alot of people don't know about it because the other cables were so short.
Dude this was so much help! Thank you
Glad it helped!
thank you for the great video, my iphone 15 detects the mic as a headset and the app does not open, I deleted usb devices and still does not work for me, any tips my friend?
I have the iphone 15 pro connected via the SC7 on the usbc adapter😮😮
I appreciate your video. I’m gonna look into the SC15&19 versions to adapt my road Mic with my iPhone. I’ll use your link in the description below. Thanks for mentioning that.
Great! Can’t wait to see how it works
Will this mic work for Facebook live streaming on a iPhone 15?
I connect my mic to my computer and did video capture but the sound seems off. What am I doing wrong? It sounds a little hollow even with good mics? Rode Video Go II but capturing on the phone seems ok.
Great video, thank you!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Super helpful, thank you 🙂
Great! I'm glad it helped you!
I use the pop lav or the Samsung Q2U. I really like the ride mic you just used.
I’ve always used the Q2U or the Rode Wireless Go’s but honestly I hate the sound of the Wireless Go’s and the Lav. VideoMic Go II gives me what I need.
this is crazy production value at only 5k subs do u work professionally in the industry omg
Great vid, man! Very informative :)
Glad you liked it!
NICE SOUND, .... AND REALLY NICE COLORGRADING
Good info! Keep up the great work 👍🏾
Thank you so much!
Great video.. good information and to the point.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video thanks, been enjoying having the rode video mig go ii and as you stated in the end of the video connecting it to the rode wireless go ii is brilliant specially as a boom mic and less cable management 🎉
hello, i have iPhone and Rode videomic go II, i have been trying to connect to my phone many times but it didnt work, i have my original cable from apple usb-c to lighting and i connected both ends and it didnt work, if you dont did you use any cable usb-c to lighting, or is it propriotery only to SC-15 rode cable? if it worked with you which cable you used.
So, for whatever reason, this is an issue with Rode. The work around is to download the Rode Reporter App and then open that app first! And THEN you should be able to use the phone as normal. I recommend using it in the Rode Capture App.
The connection with the Rode wireless go 2 has been love!
Great info!! Thanks
Thank you
This video answered all the questions i had about connecting the Rode to my iPhone. I could not find any 3rd party options for it.
Great! I'm glad to hear it!
Bought the rode video mic go 2 and haven't been able to plug into either the iPhone or computer so that it works. Guess Im not techy. :( Please drop the cord link that connects it to Iphone or video link to how to connect please! Thank you!
I just bought this micro. Do u have a video where u connect it to the rode wireless and rode lavalier. Thanks and greetings from Munich 😊
I don't currently but I am working on some Rode Wireless Go II content so I'll be sure to get that shot.
Thank I just got the Rode 2 on a recommendation… didn’t tell me about the extras…
found another content provider that instructed to get third party Amazon… it didn’t work…
NO instructions mind you… the long of it… the lighting cord from my iPad Air worked … still didn’t know about the downloads…
Thanx GREAT VIDEO… subscribed
Blessings
People always recommend things without context! I always try to make sure my viewers know what they’re doing
finally found good review bruh!
Thank you!
Cool and thanks 🎉😊
You're welcome!
I smashed and subscribed... I could not figure out how the hell this thing worked, like do you have to charge it through c connection? It has a "charging light." Anywhoo, great video... you're awesome.
12:58 very informative. I been using it wrong all this time and I knew something wasn’t right
Based on the timestamp, are you referring to the End Screen?
Really helpful thank you!! I take it that I can’t plug a usb c to usb c cable from the mic to the iPhone 15 pros then?😅😢
Actually you can! Rode SC16 or SC17. amzn.to/3SwgvFo
Wonderful content
Thanks for commenting!
Hello, I'm Dan thank you for the review. Is this rode mic still a good buy for November 2023 or do you recommend another?
Yes. I just recommended it to another user on a livestream last week
the trcc cable comes with the mic? because I have a RODE cable that cames with the phone but its all black, not grey and black or red
is that ok? and dor USC B it can be any cable right? thanks man I'm new on this please help I have iPhone 15 so I use USB C
You need Rode SC 16 cable
Great video, very informative! Question for you, do you know what Rode adapter would be necessary for the Rode Videomicro (not the Video Mic Go II) to iPhone 14 Pro?
Thank you. The only adapter you'll need for the Micro is the lightning to headphone connector that costs like $9.
@@waltjennette Thanks a bunch!!!
thanks bro
Any time
Rode videomic Go 2 and Sennheiser mke 400. Which of these two microphones is better to use for ASMR videos? Some bloggers claim that the Sennheiser mke 400 microphone has relatively strong 'self noise', is that true?
I actually want the Sennheiser. I can't speak for the self noise but honestly...I've seen ppl do ASMR with Sure Beta 58's. Try it out and see how it goes!
Good looks
You're welcome
Can I charge my iPhone and use this mic in the same time?is there any adapter you recommend?
You can use the USB Camera Adapter.
Using the iPhone 14 pro. Anybody else having issues when unplugging mic? my phone shut off and have to force restart.
So that I'm clear, the Rode SC-19 (usb C to lightening cable) connects the two and allows access to the app or software?
That is correct. Only if you use the usb cable can you take advantage of the DSP (digital signal processing) that's on the mic. Check it out and use it with Rode Capture.
@@waltjennette wait, Rode Capture? installing that shit now. thanks for the video and response. means a lot
Your video helped me make the decision to purchase this mic! I must say, I am very satisfied with the quality, especially when using the WS12 windsock. However, I am having trouble trying to find the necessary equipment in order to be able to mount the cold shoe on my smartphone (Samsung S20 Ultra). I saw that you are using a Ulanzi tripod with your iPhone and I was wondering if that is also compatible with my Samsung. I plan to use the mic both indoors and outdoors, primarily with my smartphone, so I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what gear I need to get the mic in the right position. Keep it up, man!
I'm glad to hear it. Idk if you ever got the tripod but it's compatible with the Samsung ultra!
I'm lost. I cannot get my rode to do anything with my iPhone through the TRS jack and lightning connector, nor through the USBc cord. Rode connect central wont do anything because it is waiting for me to connect a Rode device. I have a Rode Caster Pro 2. Nothing.
Same, it doesn’t work.
Could you just use any lighting to USB C cable and still work?
You need to get the Rode specific cable! amzn.to/43GJw5q
Would my iphone be compatible with the Rode VideoMicro Compact On-Camera Microphone using this method??? Great content BTW!
I think the connections are different but the overall idea works the same.
Thank you for this amazing video! Can I use this microphone connected to iphone for making the Vlog and other video making (like tutorial videos)?
You're welcome! Thanks for watching! Yes you can! I'd recommend using Rode's Capture app!
@@waltjennette okay.. I have a question.
I have a iphone and dont have any external microphone. I understand that I can connect this RODE video Go II microphone to iphone as you explained in this video and shoot the videos on a native camera app.
So that audio will be recorded along with the video which I shoot.. That means I don't need RODE audio capture app correct? Please advice
@@subramanianc15 That is correct! You can use the native app on the iPhone!
@@waltjennette okay. Thank you so much!
@@subramanianc15 You’re welcome
Can you remove the aux cable that comes with the roads and just replace it with an aux to usbc to iPhone ?
You can as long as it’s the TRRS end.
🚨TRS vs TRRS cables @rodemic #shorts #contentcreator #rodevideomic
I’m trying to use it to remix Reels on iG but have zero clue how to hook up my headphones for that zero latency. Ultra confused
You have to connect it by USB to the phone so you can connect your headphones to the mic jack.
So do you HAVE to have that rode app in order to use the mic on your phone or is it just so that you have those additional features?
You do not have to have it but I recommend it so you can see that it's actually using the mic! If you decide to use something like the Blackmagic Raw app...same thing applies. You can see your audio source.
🚨 @rodemic Access DSP Features w/Rode Central #shorts #contentcreator
I’m confused . If my rode is plugged into my iPhone headphone hack how is it freed up to hear?- how am I able to use the iPhone headphone Jack to monitor what I hear on zoom if mic is plugged in. Love your videos !
the monitoring option is available if you use usb from the mic to the phone and connect your headphones to the audio jack in the camera
@@gabrielp1183 Thank you for answering that.
*audio jack of the microphone
I purchased the mic, and I have every proper cable. It still will not connect to my iPhone.😢
i connected it with the provided cable and did all you said and it’s detecting as headphones and not turning on or detecting on todd central mobile or anything
it’s the sc14 cable. does that make a difference?
Ok. That's the issue. You have the SC14, which is TRS to TRS. You need a cable that's TRS to TRRS and the TRRS end needs to connect to the lightning to headphone adapter. You need the SC7.
@@waltjennette i just got a lighting to usb cable off amazon, it isn’t rode though. would it work?
@@FocusJail Unfortunately, it will not work. It has to be the Rode cable. I've tried 3rd party cables and it won't recognize it.
@@waltjennette oh alright , i’ll just cancel it and get a rode then
This did not work for me. Followed your instructions perfectly. The road app just says please connect something to it and it never recognize the microphone.
Hey Rick. I'm sorry to hear that. Were you ever able to get the mic recognized by the app? And you had the right cables? Remember the app will only recognize it if it's plugged by USB. Not the other method with the lightning to headphone adapater.
You need a tripole 3.5mm adapter. The genuine apple one is tripole, others can be hit and miss
Does a usb c to lightning iPhone chord work? Mines not doing anything.
my rode mic not working
Just got the Rode Video Micro
The Micro is a great little mic as well! Whatever gets the job done!
how did you mount it onto your phone?
With a Ulanzi phone mount.
amzn.to/3T95v1k
Cool
Thank you!
Does it have to be a ride cord
Yes it does.
Mic doesn’t work and I have all these parts plugged in. It works on my computer however I want it to work on my iPhone
Which iPhone do you have? If you have iPhone 15 then you need Rode SC16 cable. If your iPhone is older then you need Rode SC15 cable.
What if there is 2 of us? Will we both need head sets?
So you would want to connect the mic by usb and then by a splitter for the headphone out.
Mine won’t work with iPhone, it thinks I’m trying to play through headphones ?
How do you have it connected?
Tried on iPhone 14 Pro but no luck.
How did you connect it?
are you able to charge the phone and use the mic at the same time?
Not if you're running it by USB. If you're using the 3.5mm output into the phone, then there is a dongle/dock you can buy to use the headphone jack and charge at the same time.
Good quality video, but this did not get the mic to work.
How are you connecting the mic?
its not connecting to rode central for some reason
And you’re using the right cable? What version iPhone and iOS are you using?
🚨 @rodemic You HAVE to use RODE Cables #shorts #contentcreator
Ohh i was using the 3.5 white cable

Definitely a cheap solution to better audio
I agree!!!
I listened for the first 3:19 seconds and still no content. This is the longest intro ever
I actually do really appreciate this comment! I'm big on context and telling you my thoughts about the mic but I also find myself frustrated with other video creators that do the same thing I'm doing. So my goal is to provide my viewers with the most information possible while also recognizing the need to get straight to the point. So thank you for bringing that to light!
I’m not hating brother! But the audio of the whole video is bad. Is too low!
Thx for commenting and no hate taken. I agree the audio can be louder but to say it’s bad might be pushing it.…96 comments & 14K views later, you would be the first to say it’s bad. 🤷🏾♂️
@@waltjennette it’s not the Video it’s the Audio. But I mean you can do the update of the mic. To see how you use it. The settings… etc…
You talk too much bro wtf
I appreciate it. In all seriousness.
