    One thing that is usually overlooked by UA-cam content creators, is the effect of soundtrack. Witcher 3 has excellent soundtrack with some uncommon instruments blended in. Contrast Spikeroog - Oxenfurt - Kaer Morhen - Fields of Ard Skellig, and that's before we even get into the two excellent DLCs.
    Actually, it might be an idea for a future video - (hint). 🙂

      You know what? I think music in general is underrated and I bet there’s a strong correlation between the music and success of a game. Think oblvion and Skyrim, fantastic soundtracks. And of course Witcher 3 is in a league of its own. I remember riding around Velen with that violin song and thinking of it representing the barrens struggle and loss. And then like you said, amazing sound tracks in skellige but every island has its own sound track which makes them feel unique. I remember the giant island one being particularly ominous and made me feel like I was in a horror game. Something happened here and I had to tread carefully. Well aware I could meet the beast any minute. Then of course the Novigrad. Party music, day time it’s full speed to match the bustling city and then night time it’s calm and reflects to quiet calm of the city. You know what!? I’m doing the video lol you are amazing!

    I nearly failed my last year of high school due to the witcher 3. I'd choose not to attend school so i could play it all day long. No other game ever addicted me so much. I just would not end bro. Like after Novigrad i was like "its done" and then skellige with 300 million quests. It was just such a huge game that never dropped in quality. Even if i like RDR2, i like it because it is fun, but it didn't immerse me like TW3. I doubt any game ever will.

      Honestly stick with it. When you first start it’s quite overwhelming and they throw Gwent in at the beginning so you can either start then and understand it or skip it thst playthrough. You can’t try to get into it later as it’ll be too hard later on. But the game itself is amazing. Basically I would argue the first few hours are quite slow but stick to the main quest at first. Get to the red baron, does his quest and at that point you’re hooked and fully invested. I’m here any time you need help! I love the game so much!

I researched every side quest. I enjoyed it so much and nothing will replace the experience of playing the game the first time through. Despite clearing it about 6 times I still find something new in every playthrough. Do you think Witcher 4 will be as good? Or do you think the standard is too high after this?

    Some thoughts i had:
    - ive played Witcher 1 2 and 3. They all had very good and interconnected stories. Witcher 3 it's just the best implementation of the series. Never had this feeling with storys in Witcher in other games. It feels so real.
    - i think an important difference between Witcher and Skyrim/oblivion is that Skyrim trys to be a total sandbox. Developers cant assume anything about the players character. Next they try to Appeal to the broadest audience. This limits them to shallow mechanics and they must avoid controversial/morally questionable messages/questlines
    - a friend asked me recently: " so why is Skyrim so bad if so many played it" and i came up with the metaphor of: Skyrim is like a burger from mc Donald's. Its as basic as it gets but everybody goes for it sometimes. While Witcher and especially gothic are more like premium burgers. You actually have to sit down, take your time to enjoy it. If you are a burger enjoyer you don't go to mc Donalds for you needs

      @@savejeff15 yes this is exactly correct! This is actually a very good topic for conversation. So Witcher 3 has remarkable writing, but it has a main character, set romances etc. whereas because Bethesda produce games thst have main character and are so free and open, they can’t reach that same level of writing. God of war, Last of Us, two relationships but each have two characters to put together. Whereas in a sandbox game like Skyrim, they only have the 1. So it usually feels less impactful. So at the end of the day, both of those two games are amazing and set standards but for different reasons. If someone said they want to make their own story up then Skyrim is the one but if someone wants a rich story, Witcher 3 would be better. It’s very interesting to discuss and I love this comment!

    • @savejeff15
      @savejeff15 День тому

      @AVVGaming1 while i think a great factor in Bethesdas lackluster story telling is that the developer has to work without any knowledge of the player characters characters, it's not the complete reason. There are ways to work around that if you want to. But we know that Todd likes it simple. They don't go deep into any direction. Bethesda games are "good enough" games in all aspects by design.

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  День тому +4

      So it’s vital you play at the beginning. This is not explained in the game by the way. So you start with poor cards. First person at tavern can sell you a few good ones, then each person you meet after this you can play and get a better card and their decks are slightly improved the further you get into the game. So if you try to play someone about 70% in the game, you cannot literally ever win because they just have better cards than you. You have to play it from the get go. If you do that you’ll love it. Trust me, I went through your experience lol. When thst spirit is saying “I’ll bet it all” and he has no idea your Geralt has never played Gwent before lol

    I can see why you see a high replay value in Witcher 3. All the decisions you make during the game do matter (Ciri's ending, Romance with Yen/Triss, ...), which is quite rare in games imho. But honestly, I don't care that much about the different endings. I just don't feel connected to Geralt that much.
    This is completely different to Aloy in the Horizon games (I discovered HZD last year, and this was my first open world game, I'm quite late to the party). In Witcher 3, I play a grown up witcher, who has seen a lot in his past. Most of the encounters are new for me (as a player), but not for Geralt. In Horizon, (almost) everything that is new for me, is also new for Aloy. By that, the game establishes a much deeper connection between the player and the main character. You as the player are afraid of the first Sawtooth you see, and so is Aloy. You have fun on your first ride on a Strider, and so does Aloy.
    But don't get me wrong: Witcher 3 is a great game, and I'm having a lot of fun on my NewGame+ on Death March to get the missing achievements/tophies. And I will try to trigger a different ending now (I think of Ciri as Emporer and romancing Triss this time).

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  9 годин тому

      Okay, confession here in the comments, I’ve never played HZD or the second one lol do you recommend it then? If so, I’m gonna play it based off of your recommendation. You are late to the party, so if you say it’s worth it I’ll take your word! I’ll let you know how it

    • @hebalon
      @hebalon 6 годин тому

      @AVVGaming1 Well, if you want a good story, then HZD is worth it, imho. If you want decisions that matter like in Witcher 3, you will be probably disappointed. There are some Heart-Brain-Fist decisions in dialogs in Horizon, but these only affect the next few dialog lines, and have close to zero effect on how the story develops.

    I JUST finished W3 and I can attest that I agree with every 💯 sentiment expressed here man. I'm an AC head and played Odyssey and Origins before I played this and I see EVERYTHING so clearly now. It's almost inconceivable that this game came out 10 years ago (passed under my radar), have the depth, content and context that it has, be a pioneer, be emulated and still in 2025 be ahead light years ahead of present contemporaries. I can't see another game (Even Witcher 4) being this good again. I just can't.

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  4 години тому

      I feel the same. In fact my expectations for Witcher 4 is less than that of Witcher 3. I just cant see anyone hit that same level. Sometimes things just happen and everything lines up. I also played it late too playing in 2020. I got let go during Covid so gave myself two weeks to play games and I said “right let’s see what all the hype is about” and refused to stop playing until it was done. After that, it became my favourite game of all time. I have now played it over 6 times from start to finish. It’s like I can’t put it down. But I started to see all these games that were influenced by Witcher 3 which shows how powerful it was and still is. The fact no game has managed to meet its same level shows you how special it was. Even if you just played it recently,‘I’m just glad you had the chance to play it!

      Hey thank you so much! Really means a lot! I actually love the Witcher 3 so much and have done full run throughs about 10 times now. But with Witcher 4 coming out, I generally have told myself not to expect the same level. This game was lightning in a bottle. It was over 100 hours of top quality content. Most games don’t get near half of that but somehow this game did that. I don’t think we will see it’s like again, at least not for a while. If the Witcher 4 is 70% as good, it will still be a masterpiece. But reaching this level of quality, I just don’t think it can be beaten. I would absolutely love to be wrong! But I would understand. I think CDPR saw that with cp77. Which I really love by the way, but again coming after the Witcher 3, it was always going to compared. But no matter how Witcher 4 or any other game comes out, Witcher 3 will always be there. A game for the history books! Thanks again!

    Caravan is actually a banger, because its a party game. Simple once you know how to play it and fun. I never really liked gwent because it was a separate game withing a game and I don't enjoy card builders. Once I got the game on PC I just installed the skip gwent mod, because the sidequests were pretty cool.

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  День тому

      Yeah I skipped it first playthrough round! I like patience is my issue so first time on Witcher 3 I didn’t get it in like 2 minute so skipped it. FNV is another game really close to my heart and I have the same thing you have with Witcher 3. I’m like; I’ll learn it later, rihht now I gotta get those powder gangers out lol

    • @husenberg1
      @husenberg1 День тому

      @AVVGaming1 Caravan is much simpler thought. And it suffers from dominant strategy. IIRC the goal is getting 26 points, so if you stuff your deck full of cards that add up to 26 and a couple special cards you are good to go. I also wish NPCs could comment on playing the Sierra Madre cards.

    TW3 is a true and utter triumph of gaming and it's such a shame so many people are for some reason against the witcher 4
    but then I remember these guys probably haven't played this game or read the books otherwise they wouldn't be lol

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  10 годин тому

      Yeah and I think what I have come to terms with is that the Witcher 4 will probably not be as good as Witcher 3. I think the standard set in that game is so high, it’s unmatchable. Put it this way, after Witcher 3, any game I played afterwards was slightly worse. It basically changed my perspective and raised my own expectations. I think CDPR made a masterpiece and I love cyberpunk too, but for me Witcher 3 is the top quality. I will of course play it but I would never hold it to the standards of w3. If it’s 70% as good it’ll be better than most games. Also I’ve been a UA-cam for 9 months now and made many videos on CDPR. For me, the hate they receive is so unjust and unfounded. It’s a real shame.

  • @hemigod2

    You said take ideas from this game and move them forward. not at all they’ve taken the ideas and tried to make their own money off of them is what happened. I started the Witcher three less than a month ago but played all of the other “stolen ideas “ games prior and the Witcher three still feels way ahead of them all.

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  10 годин тому

      I think dialogue is the perfect example. The gold move forward option and then white questions below. This is Witcher 3 was fantastic. You’d ask them all because first of all it was concise, well voice acted, had unique cut scene angles as well, added value AND either opened up additional dialogue options or quest options. Lots of games copied the template but didn’t execute it well. They just added a series of redundant questions that didn’t really help. Also the characters just stood still so essentially it became boring. This is an example of a game copying the idea but not being able to execute it correctly!

    I took a fair few years away from gaming and after coming back a year ago, in trying to catch up on the modern classics, just started Witcher 3 about a week ago. Liking the game overall, though absolutely hate Gwent and will avoid any aspects of the game that entail it.

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  День тому +1

      Yeah there’s an issue with it. It’s thst if you don’t start playing immediately, you will have weak cards after so you can never actually enjoy it later if that makes sense? Cuz you’ll always be at a disadvantage but the game doesn’t explain this so you assume it’s you! Also, first time I played through I skipped all of Gwent lol

      @AVVGaming1  2 дні тому

      Haha me either! It’s a mystery still unsolved. I think that was one of the major issues with cyberpunk too is that they had to follow this one up and the lack of decisions and impact was immediately evident. Just shows you how hard it is to do it.

    • @TheMysterieRPGguy
      @TheMysterieRPGguy 2 дні тому +1

      @AVVGaming1 Could be yes, for me the reason why I don't like cyberpunk as much as the witcher is because of the stated in which it launched. First impressions are very important to me, and cyberpunk really failed at making a good first impression.

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  2 дні тому +1

      @ yes and I honestly think it was one of the most important things to happen in gaming. It was a massive signal to other developers to not rush their games and make sure they’re good to go before launching. Before CP we saw it happen a few times but afterwards it’s mainly been quiet in that regard. Oh by the way, not long now till KCD2!

    • @TheMysterieRPGguy

    Half agree with the video and I love Witcher 3 but I don’t like how in some instances you make it sound like having an open world makes a game better than linear focused story driven games.
    Not every great game has to be open world just because it can offer both that and a great story.

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  День тому

      No sorry that wasn’t what I was trying to say. I meant that historically linear games had the better story and open world games had lesser good story. It was sort of the thing. And it makes sense as linear games can keep a story more focused and don’t have to stretch it out just for the purpose of an open world. I was actually complimenting them. Some of the best games I’ve ever played are linear! All of those games I listed are some of my favourite games!

    I wouldn't praise The Witcher 3 for its massive, open world. That open-world had nearly no reason for exploration and nothing going on besides meaningless NPCs wandering about. There's little to do besides endless monster fights while riding for ten to twenty minutes between locations, which are always spread too far apart. The game world is dead and boring. After a while, I found it more enjoyable to just fast travel everywhere.
    The world is beautiful but lifeless.
    I'm currently playing the game for the first time, so the memory is fresh.
    The Witcher 3' writing is far superior to Skyrim, but Skyrim's world is more engaging. I'd love to see a game with The Witcher 3's in-depth writing with Skyrim's engaging world.

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  День тому +1

      That would be the perfect mix! I have a genuine question though; can you have as good writing in a game like Skyrim where the character is a blank canvas. Or do you need a set character like Geralt in order to reach that level of writing? It’s a question I’ve been wondering recently

    • @lunavarion

    witcher 3 isnt a true rpg. you are forced to play a linear story as geralt as the developers want you to play. only choices in the game are superficial at most. the empty "open world" is just a distraction.

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  2 дні тому +2

      Yeah I understand exactly where you’re coming from and it’s an actually really interesting debate. In my opinion, the better the story is, the more focused the character is and less freedom for roleplaying. If that makes sense? So like rdr2 has a great story but you are Arthur Morgan set story. The story is Skyrim is basic but there’s so much room for freedom because the story isn’t as in your face. Does that make sense?

    • @threatmaker
      @threatmaker 2 дні тому +1

      @AVVGaming1 yes. in my opinion a true rpg has to have a non character focused story like skyrim. if the player character in a story loses a friend and the player character tells this was a very close person but the actual player has known this dead character for full total of 5 minutes, the player isnt going to care.

    • @AVVGaming1

      I disagree. RPGs don't have to be Bethesda style "you can be any class/character"
      Witcher is the role playing game where you play the role of Witcher. The world is open and can be explored freely.

    The Witcher 3 was great but has ZERO replay value, too many cut scenes, and too much dialogue to wade through. Elden Ring so much better.

    • @AVVGaming1
      @AVVGaming1  2 дні тому +1

      So this is a huge point! Elden Ring is essentially a game with no cut scenes and very little story telling. In order to understand it you have to go out of your way to see it. But the game in non stop. If it says you’ve played for 10 hours you’ve played for 10 hours. They are completely different games that success for different reasons. For me, I love them both. But if someone said story and cutscenes were important to them, I’d recommend Witcher 3. But if exploration, combat was more important, I’d say Elden ring. Either way, I love both and play both regularly.
