    The bar is right down the street from The Dixie Chicken in College Station, TX. It used to be Shadow Canyon, then it became Daisy Dukes, now it is called Shiner Park.

    Great song and reaction to kick off the weekend! Don, you looked like any minute you were going to jump through the screen and start getting numbers. :-) The Red Dirt/Texas Country scene is really second to none. Texas and Oklahoma have their share of rivalries but when it comes to music, we all come from the same dirt. Most of these guys were born in Texas except Jason Boland and some band members, but some were raised in Oklahoma and then some from Oklahoma are based in Texas (Boland's in Austin and Cody Canada is in New Braunfels) Even myself, a double-digit generation Texan retired to a region called western Texoma that's just north of the Red...cheaper property taxes, weed is legal, and just about everyone I know also came from Texas. I really appreciate what you're doing to get our music out to the rest of the country.

      @David Emswiler If I could have jumped through the screen or had a time machine, I would've been there in a heartbeat---would have changed the trajectory of my whole life. Ha!! My goodness. And yeah, when I think of the music and artists I do on my channel, and when I try to explain it to friends who don't know country music, I tell them I don't do popular artists (for the most part), and that the ones I react to are from "Texas, Oklahoma, eastern Tennessee, Kentucky, and places like that." That's my standard explanation, with Canada thrown in the mix, too. They look at me with surprise that I have 13k+ subs, and then don't ask me anything else. Ha!! Give it time, the proselytizing will continue. :-)

    I may have mentioned this on another video, but there was one year where I saw them 10 times here in Lubbock. They weren’t national yet and were touring a lot around Texas and Oklahoma. Good times. Terrific shows! This was around 2002 or 2003.

    To answer your question, @RockN2Country, they performed this song in Oklahoma for sure. Three of the band members are from Yukon, OK, where Garth Brooks is from. They got their start in Stillwater, OK.
    Listen to their album “Live and Loud at the Wormy Dog Saloon”, recorded in Oklahoma, to hear the public’s first taste of this song (unless you heard it at one of their live shows before that).
    Jason Boland is also from Oklahoma, and Stoney LaRue lived in Stillwater.

    • @RockN2Country
      @RockN2Country  4 роки тому

      @Randall King Thanks for the heads up on all the artists and the location of the saloon! I think I saw a sign that said "Aggies" (I recorded this reaction. few weeks ago so I'm going on memory here), and that made me think it might be somewhere around A&M's campus. And the ladies.... ;-)

    • @randall-king
      @randall-king 4 роки тому

      RockN2Country yes, the live show for the video to which you reacted was College Station, TX, home of the dumb Aggies.
      Did you hear about the Aggie traveling to Lubbock for an A&M vs. Texas Tech game? He never made it. He kept seeing billboards for Dairy Queen that read, “CLEAN RESTROOMS”, so he would stop and clean the restrooms.

    I saw CCR in OKC back in the 90s before they got famous, and I was amazed at how good they were. One of the best bar bands I've ever seen. I was so happy to see them on CMT, and I wish they would have been bigger than they were. They're a phenomenal band live.

    This live performance was part of a
    limited edition release of their album “Soul Gravy” - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_Gravy. Some copies had an accompanying DVD of the Shadow Canyon show. I have one. It’s terrific if you can get your hands on one. The album was released in early 2004, so I’d guess the show was 2003 or 2004.

    CCR, Stoney, RRB, Wade, Boland. All fantastic artists. The night I saw Boland and Stoney in Sun Valley ID was a crazy night. Saw CCR at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle (also saw Shooter Jennings there in 05, as well as Eric Church in 06). Seen Wade at Billy Bobs but my favorite concert of his was at Big Texas in Spring. Saw Randy Rogers there too, as well as the Firehouse Saloon in Houston and Knitting Factory in Boise. Never seen Bleu live tho.
