  • Julia Hartley-Brewer blasts benefit claimants who are out of work.
Reform UK's manifesto claims that National Insurance would be raised to 20% for “foreign workers” to incentivise businesses to employ British workers.
Julia asks: “Why do we give a free pass to these sodding layabouts? There should be shame attached to not working!”

A girl lived a few doors away from our family home. She was blind from birth. Every morning she made her way with her white stick, across a main road, to the bus stop for the ride to town, to her place of work. She did this every day of her working life. She was respected and admired by everyone in the village (except the loafers!)

Many people are forced to give up employment to care for elderly relatives who have nothing. Then when they die they're left with a huge funeral bill and a huge gap in their employment history. So quit the mother Theresa act mate, and enjoy holidaying on your wife's inheritance 😂

I'd rather money went to the indigenous population in this country than the people who make up the highest amount of claimants. Men and women of Pakistani origin are the vast majority of claimants. Actual British white are the very bottom of the statistics and a FRACTION of the people claiming. Yet it's them that are targeted. Especially by people at DWP. You won't see much diversity on DWP schemes such as Restart. You also won't get the majority of claimants even bothering to do the mandatory elements to claim such as universal credit. The journal aspect is certainly never bothered with by them and it's a necessity to claim. My friends at the jobcentre even say that particular Muslim women tell them that it is against their religion for them to seek employment. I've even heard it myself Actually say that and they still get their money. The staff are just told to just turn a blind eye to it all. "It's just easier". It's probably out there in stories in various places. It goes on all over the country. It's WHY white British have all the sanctions and punishments. They have to do it to someone. I know multiple Muslim men and they all work. Such as in Birmingham. They all seem to be working and yet statistics tell a very different story entirely. Clearly a lot of benefit fraud going on but again they are afraid to pursue them for fear of being called racist so it's British white that are pursued instead. Absolutely true and an absolute joke. Then the world outside hears just how easy it is to get money here and in they pile. Take a look at the ethnicity statistics because it's all there.

I’m a highly skilled facilities management engineer, I was made disabled by the Welsh NHS. I take high doses of morphine daily, and go out to work full time. I have 3 primary age children, and, at the same time I cared for my mum for 5 years who had Dementia. My knees are now shot and I’m waiting for an operation, and I’m still working full time.
If I was laid off tomorrow I’d do anything to earn money, no job would be beneath me. If I was a road sweeper, I’d be the beast road sweeper. If I cleaned toilets, I’d be the best toilet cleaner, I’d give both jobs 💯. These days, they are forcing people like me to work till they die, whilst 20 year olds are lazing in bed till past dinner time, then gaming their lives away. I was brought up on a council estate and saw first hand the con men/women who spent decades claiming they could barely walk, but managed to walk to the pub 7 nights a week.

Years ago, if you were out of work you signed on at your local Labour Exchange to claim Unemployment Benefit. You would be offered an interview at a business needing workers. If you turned down three, or failed three interviews, you lost the right to claim benefits. People soon went and found a job, any job, because a business will tend to hire people who are already in work, not long term unemployed or claimants who had lost their benefits.

I've always prided myself on the fact that I've paid a lot more in tax than I've ever claimed in benefits. Including seven years in the army (two tours), some gruelling manual labour (try being a delivery driver for an abattoir) and I spent six months homeless (and STILL didn't claim benefits). However, about seven years ago, the PTSD caught up with me so I asked for treatment. I was ADVISED to stay off work whilst everything was being sorted and apply for UC and PIP. Despite ex-servicemen supposedly receiving priority mental health help, I had to wait until last year for CBT and visits from the Community Mental Health Team. I am now back in work full time (about nine weeks) and paying tax again. I'm still on strong medication and attending therapy.
Therefore, I spent six years as a "sodding layabout" feeling guilty because of people like Hartley-Brewer when the only reason for this is that this government has brought the NHS to its knees and waiting lists are at record levels. Not everyone wants to be a layabout taking benefits that are less than a third of what they would be earning. I really take offence at being demonised for something out of my control.

Most people want to work, they just don't want to be taken for a ride by the very people who benefitted from our society at it's best, passing on poverty wages to the next generation. Sort out the housing market, sort out the pay problem in the country and more people will take more jobs. No one wants to earn the same money they did 15 years ago, under worse conditions, when inflation and the housing market have been sky high. I'm no lefty, I think people should work, but I also think the people of today shouldn't be less well off for doing the same work as people in the past. Years ago, I was left with two young children. I went out to work full time. Benefits are there for people who CANNOT work.
NOT THOSE WHO WILL NOT WORK.

There used to be shame in not working, but there is no shame about anything in society these days. They’re all about entitlement and rights, without any responsibility.
