The maiden of my Ryanair themed Albabird on a secluded beach. There's a nice mix of footage from the Caddx Peanut, DJI goggles DVR and shots from Dave's DJI FPV Drone (Thanks Dave!! 🤘🏻).
This video will be followed very shortly by a video on the setup/build of this plane along with my first thoughts on the Caddx Peanut and the DJI digital system.

Haha sorry to disappoint 😜 the next video will just be initial thoughts as I really need some time to put this system through its paces. There are things I like and things I don't like about it already, but I can see it will definitely have a place for me along side analogue, but not replacing it. Thanks for the great feedback 🙏🏻

Awesome video. Can't wait to see the setup video too. I'm always on the look out for planes that can be stored in small spaces.
Then this will be the plane for you! It is the most portable plane I've ever owned, that's not a sub 600mm wingspan 😃 It's my ideal plane for travel: Breaks down easily to a really small size, doesn't take forever to reassemble, with it being on DJI there's no need for the groundstation and it's lovely and quiet so as not to bother other people that may be nearby on holidays. I have since seen other videos on it but most people on youtube seem to have huge workshops and not interested in this aspect! I am currently working on a mini talon that i have made collapsible. Totally amazed at how quiet it was on launch at 0:02. For a maiden, this is pretty spectacular production, edit. That beach location seems like an ideal location.

Thanks a lot! Yeah it's a super quiet plane, which is one of the reasons I used it as my 'travel plane'. When they are this quiet, you are far less likely to annoy someone with it. Weather is great here, hope it clears up for you soon

Curious too see how you like DJI in your next video. I like DJI alot but usually set my stuff up on analog so I can record the OSD if there are issues etc. Maybe you will try hdzero again it's pretty good now cameras and vtx are alot better than when you tried it out.
At this stage it's just initial thoughts as I've not had enough experience with it to give a full conclusion. I'll be putting it to the test properly this summer to see what it's capable of 😎. I'm confident enough with iNav not to worry much about missing OSD items but it's definitely a big down side to DJI, along with the lack of recording the OSD on the DVR. I've seen some put a small analogue cam and DVR on board so that they have all this data recorded but this is just added weight I'd like to avoid on a plane this size. HDZero is definitely looking more appealing now with the better transmitters and cameras... but even then I can see the image quality is not up to the standard of DJI. I think it would appeal to quad pilots for the lower latency, or the fixed wing fliers that like to go beyond 13km. I have to say the 13km limit is't really a bother to me as I very rarely fly that far anyway. Cheers
Awesome vid. The Alba ist't the prettiest of birds but it flies so well, and is super utilitarian. Everyone who has one just loves it
It's a loved plane in the FPV community, which is why I had to try one. I can see why, such a great all rounder. I have to say I actually quite like how it looks, especially with my silly Ryanair theme 😂
peanut is pretty good, only missing horizon lock - when I was buying it, I thought it had it already

I bet the Alba bird felt slow compared to some of your recent planes. I must admit this is one plane I've considered getting to see if I got the bug for flying back.
Well I was trying to fly it slow for most parts of this as I had my mate following me trying to get some nice shots. It can fly slow but it's not exactly slow when you punch the throttle 😃. It really is an excellent all rounder, I can understand why many would say this is their favourite.

Great footage! at such low altitudes usually strong turbulence and I try to climb higher, so to shoot video like it you need to have skill!

Thanks Ken 😁 No ND filter on this flight, it was recorded in 1440p @30fps. I did colour grade the image though for a slightly more cinematic look. Hopefully I'll upload the Alba setup video tonight. Cheers

Good video, you could really see the crosswind as you crabbed up the beach :) I've set up a couple of wings with DJI FPV, maidened one (nano goblin) and that was good, looking forward to the larger wing.

Yeah it was a bit windy this day but I just decided to get out there and get on with it, have to say the Alba handled it very well 👌🏻 I’ve got a wing with DJI on it too, but just not had chance to maiden it yet 😬 I’m sure the nano goblin is fun but larger wings I always find more fun 😎

Yeah there was a good bit of wind alright! Definitely not a calm day. Going against the wind I had a groundspeed as low as 25-30km/h 😄 Cheers
Congrats, you've now flown your Albabird more times than me haha. Great video as usual mate. Now you've got a brilliant plane on DJI, hopefully you'll get to use it a bit more. I won't build another plane without DJI on board now, but I will keep one plane on analogue 1.3 for "special" missions lol.
Haha you really need to get yours out more often! Thanks for the great 3D parts on this one, they are just the job. Added bonus that they are not glued in place so can easily be changed, nice design. There's always a need for at least one plane on 1.3g! 😁. Cheers

The Albabird is a breeze to launch, so much so that my flying buddy launches his while sat down with his goggles on 😂. DJI range is limited to 13km... and with the right antennas it will still be crystal clear HD to that point. However, what I want to test and discover is how low can it fly while getting there 😎 testing will be done this summer! Cheers

The quality of the DJI feed is very nice, without a doubt the clearest I’ve ever seen. There are things that I don’t like about it too though. It’s still new to me but I’ll give my initial thoughts on another video in the next few days. Cheers mate 🙏🏻

Beautiful images of the flight but I hate flying on the beach avoiding the grains of sand and the chemical of the sea water that damage the components.
Thanks 😁 and yeah I agree sand is annoying. Beach flying is something I rarely do but the plane does need a good clean after. Feels like it was worth it though, I had a lot of fun here

what sort of flight time and range do you get?
@@fpvaq7378 can’t really give a great answer as I never fly efficiently. When doing some follow shots of my flying buddies MCW recently I was in the air for 1 hour in a single flight but can’t remember what distance was covered. That was on a 4s2p 10,000mah
How you stabilize footage from the plane ? Reelsteady?
There is no post stabilisation used here. This is all done onboard by the Caddx Peanut

@@viperblck1 Yeah, it's an extremely small and light weight HD camera with Flow State Stabilisation which works incredibly well. Has it's pros and cons, I'll cover this in the next video very soon! :)
