    I’m a small scale egg farmer. I love the fact that you are raising chickens. Eggs are nature’s perfect food. Just a little tidbit of advice though... the chicks look like it’s too warm in their brooder. One light is plenty for that number. Each week them temp gets lowered by 5 degrees. Heat lamps are an extreme fire hazard. I recommend a brooder plate. Good luck with those beautiful chicks.

    • @jessicalynnathome
      @jessicalynnathome  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you! Yes we turned the other light off because it was too hot. We read that each week they require less heat and those heat lamps got hot together! Thanks for the advise! 😁

    Wow! Amazing! TFS! I just started watching but from the look of the plans that's going to be an awesome home for them babies, now & later. Was it cheaper to build it yourself? Hey, you could check habitat for humanity for Windows. If you haven't purchased them yet. Ok, I'm rambling. Back to the video. Much Love and Many Blessings to All!

      Thank you! Yes to build a coop this size it was sooooo much cheaper! One this size already built was $3000 or more we ended up spending around $800 which isn’t bad. Some of the small ones that only hold 2-3 chickens are $300-$400. It was a lot of work though but we are happy with it and hopefully the hens will be too! Thanks for watching have a great weekend! 💕☺️💕

    How awesome it that land and it's potential!!! 5 acres is alot of land especially if you have to mow it lol. I see the riding lawnmower and that worked on ours as well. We also had a little pond that was spring fed so it never dried up especially if there was a drought. My husband wants to raise chickens so I went to the other room so he couldn't hear you talk about the coop. He just came in here showing me a picture of one he found at Atwoods lol. I really like yours and I'm sure it's cheaper to build that buy one already made. You look amazing by the way, I'm so glad you're posting videos again!!!

    It looks GREAT - your chickens are going to LOVE it!
    A couple of tips - you'll want to cut a couple of vents up high to let moisture escape (especially in the winter time). Cover them with hardware cloth but leave them open all the time. They need that air flow. And pick up a cut-off piece of sheet vinyl to lay on top of your plywood floor. It's pretty cheap and makes it SO much easier to clean out the shavings/poo later.

    • @warrenmaker798

      They don't really need excess ventilation. There are so many gaps in the building the chickens will escape anyway, LOL. I'm glad they had fun building it though, and let's face it, the chickens have no building expertise,

    I don’t need a chicken coop this big, but like the design. Is it possible to scale this down slightly? I tried to draw up plans with the base of the floor being 4x6 instead. I think I had the overall height at the peak about 6 1/2 feet. The nesting box would have to remain the same size though. My main concern is scaling it down but it not looking off because of it.
