There is so much dignity in the tone of those men. They belong to the best generation that built solid, made la living with others in mind, and looked at the larger picture of what a community is. It is right an proper that we look at their knives as heirloom of a period of our history that will never come back. The FDR-Eisenhower-Kennedy (1932-1963) generation that were shaped by the Great Depression, the Second World War and by a post-war boom. So long!
What a great video, just got into slip joints at the age of 60yrs,which I had got in earlier. Been making knives only around 7yrs but enjoying every moment of it and the community. The reason behind starting to make a slip joint is the engineering and the detail, time well spent absolutely loving my journey, thanks for sharing. Davy Thomas
great video! I got the chance to work with Bill in his shop about 2 years ago and met a few of the Cartel guys while I was down there. They're all super nice people and a wealth of knowledge! I dang sure wouldn't be where I am today without them! Thanks for filming this, that was really cool!
Good men making great knives. Seeing how much passion these men have for their craft is inspiring. Take notes kids, that right there is one of the small secrets to this life!
I live in Central Louisiana and I had the honor of meeting quite a few member on the Slip Joint Cartel and the 2021/2022 Atlanta blade show. Without a SINGLE doubt in mind they where the most humble people I had ever met. I started making slip Joints in January of this year and a few of these guys were willing to help me without even asking. I was once told by a very well known maker (DONT CHASE THE MONEY, CHASE THE KNIFE!!! WHEN YOU CATCH THE KNIFE YOU WILL FIND THE MONEY. This has driven me hard core. Im not after the money Im after the KNIFE...
Very beautiful story of people who make keep sakes of beautiful handy work.iworked on knives myself years ago as a young man. I love doing things like that .i am handicap now as a older man but own alot of knives i collected yers ago one of my most favorites are my dads and my brothers who are no longer with me. I loved your knive story and god bless you all for that.
Some beauties there...the designs and especially some of the handle scale materials. Wish we had more guys as skilled as thse guys to build some sleek earless bolster square button 10 inch Italian stiletto pick locks.
I collected and carried modern folding knives for years and eventually got bored. Now I'm interested in EDC fixed blades and slip joints. Just got my first custom slip joint and I'm thirsty for another.
To all you disgruntled slip joint makers out there, time to grow up & accept that Victorinox make the worlds best slip joints & your knives are never going to sell as well as a Swiss Army knife no matter how well you make them because we the EDC knife using & collecting public have put our money where our mouths are & buy hundreds of millions of budget priced & top quality Victorinox knives every year! Those of you who sell fancy shmancy slip joints with steel harder than that used on an M1 tank can take your $300 offerings & stick them where the sun don't shine because I and millions of other folks love our Swiss Army knives & if we want something different then we will buy a $20 Rough Ryder & not a overpriced pretentious $300 Jack Wolf hipster slip joint!
That was about as cool as it gets! These fellas are top-shelf men💪😎👍

The friendliest, generous and most unassuming people I have ever met are knife makers. It is a pleasure to be in their company.

Would love to own anything those guys are making
I hope I can be part of the slip joint cartel someday.
These guys are good but they don't deserve elevation to godly status.
I like your work and craftsmanship but don't call yourself CARTEL,with respect name have been taken looooong time ago...

A lot of truth in that.
I hate anything associated with gangs even little cutesy names that include cartel or mafia in their title.
Awwwwwww are you going to be ok?
Great video, but that intro song was garbage.
