    Scent introduction works wonders wear a white t shirt for a day no deodorant or cologne place pieces of it in the safest places of the enclosure. Eventually your tokay will associate your scent with safety that should help with the problem of them jumping and getting out of dodge when your handling them. Feed them out of your hand lay your hand flat with food in it inch it closer and closer if they open their mouth stop moving wait until they calm down if they run feed them normally and don't try again for awhile.

      @@HyperBeastCommunity because a lot of snakes and lizard types can be relatively tamed with frequent handeling. Tokays just remain assholes no matter what. I'd trust a monitor that was raised a lot more than a tokay to not bite

      Cheyenne Exotics parasites are extremely common in wild-caught tokays, and pet stores don't sell CB as a rule. Also, they CAN clamp down, the longest I've had one clamped is 20 minutes. It's not as bad as you'd expect.

    😂😂😂 Okay you're adorable. On top of that loved this gecko, he looks like a lot of fun (hopefully fingers will not be mangled). Been wanting one for years, the bite doesn't scare me because of previous experiences, but the bark is not something suited for apartment living. They bark so loud 😂😂 Good on you for giving him a safe home and a chance!

    We have one in our house. We saw him on my sister's room about 2 year's ago. He was a little cute lizard back then. He is now about a feet long. We don't touch him , don't give him water and food. We don't know where he eats and poops. We can only see him when he shows himself. Cool thing is he always do this gecko sounds when someone arrived in our house like his greeting us. I really do wanna touch him but my parents forbid me. I think he is doing fine he looks so much like yours but he is bigger. What do you think is the best thing for me to do? I can hear our neighbors always planning to steal him from our walls and sell him to Chinese alternative healers. They say he cost a lot.

    Tokay Geckos are an arboreal species. As most geckos are, i have a juvenile leopard gecko in a 20 gallon tank and a bearded dragon in a 60 gallon tank and a juvenile crested gecko in a 8 x 8 x 12 tall enclosure. he may also be so extremely aggressive because he isn’t in a enclosure that mimics his natural habitat. you need a tall tank!

      Uhh there are scientists on UA-cam who keep tokey geckos in Tupperware containers. I'm pretty sure they just hide behind rocks and feel safe in small spaces.

    • @silox250
      @silox250 4 роки тому

      @@KidArkx even if they do just fine in tupperware, don't start telling me thats the ideal setup for them. Any animal would rather live in an environment that mimics their natural setup. Being hidden away all day is not good even for nocturnal animals. In all cases its more about the efficiency of the owner, not for the benefit of the animal.
      Do these "scientists" have actual proof that animals thrive better in tupperware? I would like to challenge you on that :)

    I work at Petco and we have to force feed the pythons because our f/t mice are crap. For some reason, the snakes don't like them. Guess it's the way they're processed. Honestly, we try our best with them but the suppliers often screw us over. One supplier sent us a baby bearded dragon that was half the size of my finger. Of course, manager said to put him out on the floor anyways 🙄

    Don't freak em out like that tho. Dismantling their enclosure is not a good idea. They need a space where they can retreat to and feel safe, don't ever pull them out of their safe space. Be patient, open hand in their space. Dont try and pick them up. Just try and touch his head without them biting. That's good progress.

      They dont hurt when they're little which is the best time to spend time with them to calm them down. One of the better tactics to do is to get a book or something to do while you sit next to the tank with nothing but your hand in it, slowly moving it closer and letting them get accustomed to it that way. Its a patience game.

    I say you’re doing too much at once... you should get him used to your hands first... pet him... feeding him... etc before you pick him up and hold him. Baby steps and exposure over time.

    I'd be pissed all the time too if I was forced to live in a tiny enclosure like that. People treat these animals as jewelry for display rather than living things. Give it some freaking room so its life is tolerable. And why are you handling that lizard anyway? You are traumatizing it more than anything. If its an adult lizard its not going to want to play along. You have to start them young, and you have to do things on their terms. Slowly tempting it with food and conditioning it to your presence and your hands takes time. Its not going to like you if you tear its home apart and chase it around. So basically, you traumatized your lizard like an idiot just so you could post a video on UA-cam.

      Alien Soup no it’s just the nature of tokay geckos. And plus too big of an enclosure stresses geckos out and it makes the m difficult to find their food. Also I have a baby leopard gecko who loves being handled and I’ve seen many tokay geckos that tolerate being handles so it doesn’t traumatize them, what does traumatise them is never interacting with them so they will always think that you are a predator so handling is good to reduce fear whenever you feed them. Plus it’s only a baby he will probably rehouse it when it grows

    It's not funny at all, he treats that creature like an toy hamster or something like he doesn't know at all what a tokeh needs. I feel sorry for this poor little guy

      Dude people who breed these geckos wear socks and are afraid of them 😂😂😂 There's very few people who don't get startled by a tokay. Also he didn't treat the creature like a hamster. You don't know about hamster care 😂😂😂😂😂

      lynnthegreat10 it's an appreciation thing. With enough work, they will tolerate handling. No reptiles enjoy being handled like many mammals would. You have to appreciate animals for what they are to keep ones like this
