The fact that you guys took the time and effort to listen and improve your UI so much is crazy! not only are the sounds in the library amazing, but the UI has to be one the best if not the best in terms of flexibility and usability that I've ever come across! Love seeing the hard work :))
We are grateful for your kind words and so glad that you recognize our efforts to enrich and support our instruments. Your support means a lot to us. Thank you!
Hey teletone I haven’t watched the video yet but I’ve had tympo for a few months now and just wanted to comment that Tympo was the key I’ve been missing in my set up for so long now. Emboding the quintessential “introverted, bedroom-musician” I’ve learned to be a “one man-band” for about every role expect drumming. For a long time it’s kind of been the “Achilles-heel” of my set up, and really limited what I could create. I’ve shopped around before for drum sample libraries, but they just aren’t at all aiming for what I was looking for. I dreamt of an easy-to-use, and inspiring drum library full of drum sounds with “character”, as I had no interest in the super clean and polished drum sounds of something like EzDrummer. Tympo seriously felt like I commissioned a dream plug-in personally or something, but I just wanted to thank you guys again and share since it’s opened up so many doors for me creatively! Oh and if you guys are ever are workshopping more releases, in the rhythmic department, I will 100% be buying with how good Tympo is haha.
I just bought Tympo (and Le Gibet) as my first Teletone instruments. Boy do I feel stupid. How did I not find your stuff earlier? It’s magnificent. All of it.
Awesome stuff! I'm loving my tympo. I hope you'll keep expanding it. Expansion packs for different drum sound (types) would be great. Also, ghost notes would be a valuable addition to the snare (besides rim and roll options).
Thank you so much for updating such an already great plugin. I truly respect your effort and dedication towards your products , can't wait for the next products and updates !!!! 🎶🇫🇷
Just found out you guys put Tympo out today, watched the tutorials and had some key things in mind that it was missing (mostly time signature scaling and custom kits), came here to watch the update and you’ve addressed just about all of my concerns. Love it, looking to buy it soon (when the bank account allows 😉)
For anyone who couldn't figure out how to trigger the beat LOOPS on the keyboard, it's MIDDLE C Key to activate! Took me a while but I got it in the end 😉
Hey Jeremy, just bought the plugin yesterday and I'm absolutely loving it! I have a few suggestions for update 1.2: 1. The ability to have longer 8-bar measures in the beatmaker would be amazing (so maybe your loop with a crash cymbal isn't hitting on every 5th bar). It would also make midi importing longer 8-bar or 16-bar sections easier and would add more dynamics to a live performance if we could play longer sections. 2. Another section on the keybed specifically separated for triggering fills. Just an idea, but would make it fun to play beatmaker style two-handed. I'm already doing this with my left hand in the manual section, but it doesn't always work the best as it doesn't cancel out what's already being played. Something like the auto-fill button like on the TR-8S would be cool (although chaos mode is good for this to an extent!) 3. The ability to bring in our own custom samples. The interface of Tympo is so great to work with, not to mention the built-in effects. Not sure if this is something feasible with the current programming, but it would be incredible! Looking forward to dipping my toes into Electro once it goes on sale!
Hey Teletone, quick question and if not possible, a suggestion... Is there a way to double or half the BPM within kontakt so that Ableton is set to 140 but I can go in and use the "70 BPM" presets without them being double-timed? Sometimes I'm working in say 160 but I'm not trynna double time the drums. Very first world issue since I can just change the project tempo to 80 but it'd be a nice little quality of life thing. Could also have some creative uses if someone wanted to maybe automate Tympo to half-time the drums for a section or something. EDIT: Also, did you guys model / name the "Distress" knob bus compression after the famous Distressor compressor? And if not, whats the story behind it? Never heard a bus compressor work like that knob does and I was curious since it sounds really good and distinct!
Hi Nick, thank you for your question/suggestion. No way to do that, sorry about that. We briefly looked in to it but there was just no delicate way of doing it. If you "halve" the sequencer for halftime it removes, obviously, half the sequence. So you loose the data/beat that's happening there. So we would need to rewrite every single beat. Same thing if you double it, you end up with empty data in the later half of the sequence. We will think on it more, but our only suggestion would be is to export the MIDI from Beatmaker. Half or double it and then re-import it back in. And yes Distress was loosely inspired by Empirical Labs' Distressor and its compression and harmonic distortion. We added our own flair to it though. Thank you for noticing!
Is there a place to find beats made by other Tympo users? I'd like to find more beats to experiment with, but can't seem to find a marketplace/platform/subreddit...
Interesting thought! We are not aware of a central hub, if there was a big need we could consider helping facilitate that. You could try posting/asking on a music forum like GearSpace.com?
Amazing work on this! Something that would be great to see is options for pitch detection or knowing what the original tone is for things like percs and toms and even some kicks and snares with more tonal qualities. I love that tuning was considered but it’s not simple right now to make a samples tone something specific.
Thank you! We will consider that. Probably the easiest thing to do would be to throw a Tuner plug-in on Tympo's audio channel in your DAW and use that to inform you how to use the Tune button in Tympo.
Quick question- at this time are we able to edit the midi mapping in any way? I'm trying to use Tympo with Roland E-drums.... Thank you for an awesome product!
You cannot edit the MIDI mapping, however our MIDI mapping follows the same suit as the other viritual drummers like EZ Drummer or UJAM. You can see the MIDI mapping in the manual of Tympo which is linked on the product page.
Thanks you for this. Is it possible to turn the velocity down for the entire beat all at the same time? I really like some of the patterns but prefer a softer hit drum a lot of the time
Yes. Just click the "Velocity" radio button in the Sound Design section under Mod Wheel. Then lower your Mod Wheel all the way down and that will lower all velocities of your steps 👍
Hello! Is there a "play" button for people who are not using a midi keyboard? Meaning, other than holding middle C, how can I get my sequences to play/loop?
Yeah so far we haven't been able to find a way for Logic to import midi via drag and drop. Logic just doesn't support that feature unfortunately! So sorry.
We are going to make a specific video on this, but if you search UA-cam for "multi output Kontakt" and then your DAW name there are a lot of videos on how to do this. Once you have Kontakt set up for multi output then you just simply select which output you want from the OUTPUT menu in the Drum Details window.

However, one thing I haven't managed to do is import midi by dragging a midi clip into the beatmaker. It doesn't seem te get "on" the Kontakt Player interface... any idea?
Thanks!! You can easily draw in precise Pitchwheel and Modwheel data using the MIDI lane in your DAW. Every MIDI track in a DAW has a Pitchwheel and Modwheel data lane. 👍
I don't believe MIDI export by dragging works with Live. It depends on the DAW. But you can take a .MID file and drag it on it. Just not a track. You will need to look and see how your DAW handles MIDI.
Would you consider adapting Tympo to an Ableton Live native plugins (maybe with Max for Live ?). It would be a dream to be able to use that on the Push 3 Standalone. Don't know how feasible it is though...

Thank you very much for developing this instrument, it is really great to use! I have a question though, the function to drag midi into an empty Beatmaker doesn't seem to work for me. Is anybody having the same issue? I am using Logic btw.
