    LYRICS
First I am spotted across the room
Sussed out for the degree of naïveté
When I make the cut then all systems go
And you take your first step toward me
    My eyes are invitations
    My welcome sign is bright
My armor is porous enough to be worked by your design
My honesty’s commendable but won’t pull your heart strings
This magnet for predators is dying to be discerning
Your system of madness to mimic connection
Then you engender my trust as you pounce
You isolate and then divert attention
Distract from deception, keep me in the dark
    My eyes are invitations
    My welcome sign is bright
My armor is porous enough to be worked by your design
My kindness is commendable but won’t pull your heart strings
This magnet for predators is trying to be discerning
You kept me off balance with your charming deflection
You kept me distracted, couldn’t pick this apart
What started as union turned to isolation
And you are obsessed with your prey
    My eyes are invitations
    My welcome sign is bright
My armor is porous enough to be worked by your design
My trusting is commendable but won’t pull your heart strings
This magnet for predators is learning to be discerning

I think Alanis is simply the greatest singer song writer of all time, who's lyrics can break your heart or make you feel what she feels and often suffers. Her voice is totally unique and powerful which she often uses like a sublime musical instrument, I have always loved her from afar and empathise with the suffering she has endured as a HSP and also as a unique and beautiful individual I am pleased for her that she now has three wonderful children and husband, I wish her happiness and strength for the rest of her life.

Wow, this fully describes the relationship between narcissist and victim. One of the first red flags I ignored was when I had known my ex only a couple months, we were discussing religion or something and I politely stated my perspective and he said, “Ah, you have an innocent way of looking at the world. I hope time doesn’t change that.” The way he said it was to undermine the validity of my perspective as naive under the guise of a compliment. I distinctly remember feeling uncomfortable by it but I chose to ignore my inner voice. My positive worldview was one of the things he went on to despise in me to the point that his negativity quickly changed my own worldview to a negative one, something that is already happening to his current wife. My children have noticed a marked difference. She was very sweet and “innocent” when they first knew her and now she is irritable and pessimistic not only toward them but also in her worldview. It breaks my heart.

As a teenager I worked with horses I could have had a good career as I could use my empathy if you like to fix horses that know one else would take on because there behaviour was so violent, I even wrote two Books, I didn't know at the time that I was an HSP but I was different to other young men and I was very sensitive, lacked confidence was very insecure, & self conscious. My first instructor was a woman I had to live in as the working day for me was 13 Hrs, She was a narcissist and although I worked extremely hard, I was under fed & although muscular and strong I was always hungry, However it was the way that she used my good nature against me which was most upsetting. She was married to a landowner after at first coming there as the home help, He was an abusive idiot who had taken the golden handshake which meant lots of money for getting rid of his dairy cows. Within a short time my lady teacher had married him though most people thought she was his daughter due to the age gap and the fact that she was attractive were as he had a face like a potato .She mentally abused me on a daily basis no matter how hard I tried to please her the abuse was constantly there, I was a kind and considerate person & very empathic so this abuse was extremely upsetting, It came to a head one day while she was eventing & myself & the two young women who also worked there but did not live in went for a ride we had a good ride & a fast canter but nothing untoward happened, I was on a large Hunter who was not in his prime but I stayed at the back & trusted in the two women who had been there longer. Now there were other horses that I could have ridden but this heavy hunter was assigned to me. I awoke at 5am & came down for breakfast I could sense something was wrong but couldn't put my finger on it. While at the table I asked if she had had a good event, she ignored my question & asked if I had had a good ride, I replied in the affirmative & it was then that she struck, asking so that would account for my horse being lame, I said well he wasn't lame when I put him away nor was he when I did 9.00 pm Stables she acted as though she didn't believe me & this was too much I exploded standing up & shouting at them that if that rotten horse was lame it wasn't my dam fault & stormed out to start the stable work, I met the two girls as I was walking down to the farm & told them what had been said & how she had set me up to explain myself, I stormed into the stable yard absolutely seething with anger which only got worse so that by the time lady muck came down I was worse than ever & was shouting and throwing things about I was so upset I was crying one minute & the next swearing & shouting about the injustice of it all, looking back it was sort of funny because the lady was scared of me & didn't know what to do, even the two young women were not happy because the both knew I had done no wrong. I was so angry after all the mental abuse and snide remarks I had put up with before but I would not take this blame, I remember at one point I shouted that she knew this horse suffered from sore feet during lessons & would refuse to come forward when it was his turn & that if that were the case she should ether retire him or have him put down as he shouldn't suffer. The lady realised she had unleashed a tiger in me & she didn't know what to do, When it was time for dinner I shouted I was starving all the time so I would forgo her awful cooking & company. In the afternoon she had a lesson with a well known showjumper I was still mad as hell and was doing the stable of the horse in question, when I heard the stable door open and this Showjumper said he had been asked to talk to me, I started to flip when he stopped me and we talked about what I wanted to do as the yard where he had his horses wanted a committed rider I wouldn't be working for him but his counter part. I did go and work for his counterpart who turned out to be a pre-Madonna and mentally abusive her second in command peter was obviously threatened by me and made my daily life unpleasant. worse still the showjumper was a Predator with me in his sights. He was nice enough at first although I shocked him when I said he was gay & he asked me who had told me as he said know body knew I replied that to me it was obvious in his body language. Later he would make jokes i was uncomfortable with and then several times he tried it on with me but I always managed to deflect his advances. eventually I had to leave as I couldn't take the abuse from peter and the owner. The damage they did is permanent I often wish I were dead & always have suicidal thoughts & suffered severe depression all my life Alanis's song predator perfectly describes these sick pigs who wreak others lives without a thought. The showjumper predated on two other teens and was later sent to prison for 4 years. A simple brain scan will tell you if a child is a psychopath why let them live when they only kill & harm.

I could be barking up the wrong tree, but I think Alanis has been trying to tell us something 👶. Can't believe when i was age 17 listening to Jagged little pill, that my teenage angst soundtrack would be my saving grace in my 40's. Keep up the great work ❤️.

Same here, Alanis is a Godsend who understood the cognitive dissonance, cruel toxicity and addictive love bombing patterns that kept us ensnared by narcissistic demons. Walking the same path 🙏
