A lot of respect for the actors for keeping a straight face despite flubbing lines, props that don't cooperate, and rubber bats on poles. Especially Jonathon Frid for keeping cool with a fly landing on his face.
Indeed! lol At least she could do the pony (?) with some semblance of wild abandon, and didn't look like that poor woman on the dance floor with the bends!
7:49 "...innocent until proved innocent..." Kudos to the other three actors for keeping a straight face when Frid came out with that line. I would've cracked up.
This is a real hoot! From David's "I LIKE funerals", to Liz Stoddard pushing pills, to rubber bats on fishpoles, and of course "Oh Roger please!". And oh yes--I'd LOVE the chance to boogie at the Blue Whale!
"David" was a great actor -- I think he was always more prepared than the adults! This show went off the air way to early. I was devastated on 04/2/71 when there would be no more...
To be fair, some of the mistakes we're seeing near the edge of the frame were tolerated because they were never visible on home television displays, which routinely cut off the edges of the picture. Now they are visible because the digital conversion process includes the whole image.
LOL..."You make it a stiff one and we're on."...the best unintended double-entendre ever. Great collection of gaffes. Makes you appreciate the fact that they had only one chance to get their lines right.
Just found this show again on Amazon Prime. Love it all over again. Especially Angelique and Barnabas. Most beautiful woman on the series. Loved those piercing green eyes.
During a Barnabas and Vicky scene people were trying to put a fire out. you can clearly hear the sound of a fire extinguisher and people rushing around nearby
That's true. Did you ever see the episode where Roger uses a secret passage in the estate in order to get to Vickie who was trapped in the locked off part of the mansion? It was pretty cool.
Just started watching the early episodes and find it very funny that one or another of the characters is either having a drink, or fixing themselves a drink about every five minutes. Would be a perfect show to play a drinking game to!
@3:25 Mrs. Johnson: Where are they?....my cigarettes! LOL. Mrs Johnson thought that David has been smoking HER cigs in his bedroom. Until now, I didn't know Mrs Johnson was a smoker! Hilarious.
😆😆 Elizebeth pushing pills and Carolyn’s wild times! I love that it was live!😁 Yes it was so sixties! I bought the soundtrack at Virgin Records in San Francisco in the early ‘90’s! I love it!
At the end of this video Jonathan Frid lives out his terrible fear of bats! He really was afraid of them, he admitted that once in an interview. lol! This video is terrific! Thanks for sharing this! ~Janet in Canada
I am a BIG fan of Dark Shadows back then n now. Quentin played by David Selby was my favorite. I also liked Louise Edmond Roger Collins excellent actor
I'm watching the show for the first time now. (I'm in the time travel arc) I keep noticing so many mistakes. I keep thinking, "Did they only do one take for every scene?" Not to mention the hilarious dark comedy, (sometimes unintentional)
LOL ..."examine it under the microphone" There was also a scene during the credits when an actor accidently walked in the room while the credits were rolling and quickly ran out
There are two times I can recall this happening. One was Thayer David as Professor Stokes. Walked across the set as the credits were rolling. Quickly realized his mistake and did a quick exit stage right. The second was Jonathan Frid walking across the set. Carrying his shoes.
"And . . . what - would anybody do with it once they had it?" This show was worth watching just for Burke's flubs alone. Somebody has to bring this back to UA-cam.
Saw an interview clip where he said he was doing DS and also a Broadway play at the same time. He commented that, in hindsight, it wasn't such a great idea.
I love it💝 I do have much respect for these great actors for what they had to put up with every day, and they keep going and thats very profesoinal, some of these bloopers are hardely noticeable. Paul Bacchus esq
Great footage Classic scenes from the Gothic chiller DARK SHADOWS: always had us/my sister & I on edge wondering what's gonna happen next. Love "all" the scenes shown above: All the actors are "awesome" Carolyn/you go girl..."dancing w/her biker boyfriend Buzz, David being mischievous toward Mrs. Johnson. About the only person that could handle David best was Vicki Winters (Alexandra Moltka-Isles), although he give her tough times, too (everyone really, smile) early on. Maggie (Kathryn Leigh Scott), Joe, Roger, Elizabeth, Burke, Barnabas, Julia, Laura Collins, Adam, Carolyn (Nancy Barrett, all that lovely hair), David, Mrs. J., Willie (John Karlen) and the evil Blair & Trask....etc,. Again, great vintage DS's moments. Enjoyed!!
When we watched the original series in the 60's and 70's we thought nothing of a fly on the forehead of Barnabas. Now seeing this it is really hysterical they filmed the fly landing like this and continued right on.
You missed where Dr. Lang couldn’t remember his lines and you could see someone on stage from the floor telling him his lines. For some reason Dr. Lang was killed off soon after.
@1:07 Burke: ...before I take you over my knee and paddle you. Go, Burke! The show needs a little S/M talk like that. We want to see you make good on your threat! Besides, Carolyn is a rich, spoiled brat anyway.
i used to work with a woman named 'Rusty' who loved to talk about 'The Castle' - it was an apartment building in New York full of gay actors and Louis Edmond was one of the tenants.
4:16 and a blurb before...….I like the attorney's son there. It was as though he and his Dad were in the real world and just happened to walk into a world that was supernatural and got out before things started to hop if you will. The son would have been a good mate for Victoria! Taking her out of that zone. and 4:504:55The bloopers that they make, make it more real in true life. It makes it more real.I guess you can tell that this show made an impact in me. sigh...
When Adam was created..he and Barnabas were connected...they could feel each others pain...so how come when Adam was strangling Barnabas Adam did not feel his own hands around his neck???????
does anyone know if the guy that was dancing with carolyn at the very first scene at the blue whale was ebson stroll, from mchales navy. he looks just like him, and built like him. thank u.
Only true Shadow fans could appreciate this, thanks for sharing.
A lot of respect for the actors for keeping a straight face despite flubbing lines, props that don't cooperate, and rubber bats on poles. Especially Jonathon Frid for keeping cool with a fly landing on his face.
I agree. And I thought the fly on Barnabas' face was completely in character since he had been dead for almost 200 years. 😄
They were True Actors and Adults. Nowadays...Young people would have a nervous breakdown & claim Victimhood.💯
It was a live show. It’s amazing how they would mess up and pick it up right from there and continue with their lines 👏👏👏
Anytime Carolyn dances is a classic Dark Shadows moment.
Yep
What’s really funny? All the people that danced like that are now called “Old People,” and “Boomers.”
Indeed! lol At least she could do the pony (?) with some semblance of wild abandon, and didn't look like that poor woman on the dance floor with the bends!
7:49 "...innocent until proved innocent..." Kudos to the other three actors for keeping a straight face when Frid came out with that line. I would've cracked up.
To me that makes perfect sense.
They didn't crack up because they were Actors.. Professional Ones.
I had to play that over to watch Joel and Grayson. They didn’t crack even the tiniest smile.
This is a real hoot! From David's "I LIKE funerals", to Liz Stoddard pushing pills, to rubber bats on fishpoles, and of course "Oh Roger please!". And oh yes--I'd LOVE the chance to boogie at the Blue Whale!
I would love to go to the blue whale if Carolyn is dancing there.
"David" was a great actor -- I think he was always more prepared than the adults! This show went off the air way to early. I was devastated on 04/2/71 when there would be no more...
Carolyn was so Sixties!
She was young and living in the moment enjoying herself. ❤
The Fishing Pole holding the, "Bat," on the fishing line at 8:31? PRICELESS!!!!
Oh! I never saw that pole before. 😂😂😂😂😂
To be fair, some of the mistakes we're seeing near the edge of the frame were tolerated because they were never visible on home television displays, which routinely cut off the edges of the picture. Now they are visible because the digital conversion process includes the whole image.
I enjoyed the exasperated "OH ROGER!" from Liz sprinkled throughout the clip.
LOL..."You make it a stiff one and we're on."...the best unintended double-entendre ever.
Great collection of gaffes. Makes you appreciate the fact that they had only one chance to get their lines right.
I love this show.
No one played the Charlie upper crust kinda guy better than Louis Edmonds. He was the master.
Good actor.
That mid Atlantic accent, the always slightly irritated and condescending tone, oh he really was good!
I always loved the episodes with the cat--love it when the cat changes back into Joshua in a 'puff of smoke'
Just found this show again on Amazon Prime. Love it all over again. Especially Angelique and Barnabas. Most beautiful woman on the series. Loved those piercing green eyes.
I agree - their love-hate dynamic really sizzled!
Boy, Nicholas Blair was one spooky dude: played beautifully!
He was the only one who could get away with brutalizing Angelique.
Loved him.
Humbert Allen Astrado was PERFECTION!
Julia's crying jag is priceless!!!
"Oh Rodger" :)
This is a masterful editing job; I only wish it had been professionally released. Thanks for the long smile.
This video is by far the best of the Dark Shadows bloopers on UA-cam! Absolutely hilarious! Thank you Todd Perley.
Aw shucks.
Couldn't they have held the stick higer and use a longer string? Or was the budget to small for that much string.
The "Trasks" were so fantastic, the best villains!
Ok
This is def the best one I've seen yet.
The oh Roger was priceless!!!!!
Oh man this never gets old! On my third time through the series now.
Me too!
Roger is such a hoot !
During a Barnabas and Vicky scene people were trying to put a fire out. you can clearly hear the sound of a fire extinguisher and people rushing around nearby
I expected the entire set to burst into flame at any time. Those look like dozens of real candles. NYFD would have a heart attack.
Joan Bennett once remarked on a talk show that remembering the lines for the show was sheer "murder"
She messed them up often but only slight mistakes. She always recovered well from them though. Great actress really and so beautiful.
She was mostly a Hollywood actress, and of course, the big screen productions allow so many retakes. She was likely very accustomed to that.
"I went out for a drink." "And then?" "I went out for a drive." "A drive!?" Lol.
Actually it was Roger Collins.
That's true. Did you ever see the episode where Roger uses a secret passage in the estate in order to get to Vickie who was trapped in the locked off part of the mansion? It was pretty cool.
It means more to mean than anything I can ever stink of ...
I loved the way Carolyn danced.
Love it! Dark Shadows a go-go!
This is the best video of its kind that I've ever seen. BRAVO!
I love the flubbed lines best, it makes them seem real. Great job.
OMG, I'm howling. With laughter. "Oh, Roger." HA HA HA HA HA
I laughed so hard . . . all the way through it. Thank you for putting this together. Great job!!! :D
Lovely cast of characters on this show.
Just started watching the early episodes and find it very funny that one or another of the characters is either having a drink, or fixing themselves a drink about every five minutes. Would be a perfect show to play a drinking game to!

And Dr. Hoffman with her never ending supply of sedatives.....
The fire extinguisher going off while Barnabas is talking is awesome.
SURF MUSIC at the Blue Whale.
Thank you! Best compilation ever. Warm and endearing and wonderfully funny. Love.
When Burke first meets Carolyn, he's like a Clint Eastwood.
oh Roger... oh WHAT?! loved DS back in the 60s. still do.
Love it! "Oh Roger!" Great video!
The Blue Whale was the groovy spot
1:05 May very well be the greatest five seconds in broadcast history.
2:23, dude, Nicholas gave Adam a blunt of some of that dank weed. Guess Nicholas was a stoner. This should be a try not to laugh video.
"Sometimes I like to watch" her dancing is too much
At the end of this video Jonathan Frid lives out his terrible fear of bats! He really was afraid of them, he admitted that once in an interview. lol! This video is terrific! Thanks for sharing this! ~Janet in Canada

I have taken to grabbing brandy glasses in stores and saying “oh, Roger” whenever I’m with a fellow Dark Shadows fan.
I love you for that.
"Oh,Sarah"
How fun. I wish I had a fellow fan friend. Everybody thinks I’m nuts.
@3:25. David: "Quit bugging me. You're the one who infested my bed with bedbugs, you old bitch."
LOL ..."examine it under the microphone" There was also a scene during the credits when an actor accidently walked in the room while the credits were rolling and quickly ran out
That was Thayer David
Yes!...It was Jonathan Frid...SO funny

Awesome stuff! That girl dancing (not Carolyn. Well, maybe Carolyn, too.) always made me howl. How fun. Thanks so much for the enjoyment. 🙏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💕
Oh, Roger!
I loved the Blue Whale. The MUSIC!!
I believe it was never shown in the later years of Dark Shadows.
Bomp Bomp Da Da Da DaDa Da Da Bomp Bomp Da Da Da DaDa Da Da
@@nassauguy48 That's why I liked the black and white episodes.
@@nassauguy48 damn shame, that
There was a Dark Shadows record album that came out in the early 70s, had a couple of the songs they played for the Blue Whale scenes. Groovy, man.
I love it💝 I do have much respect for these

Carolyn seems like a fun loving girl
This is a Freakin Phenomenon, LMAO
I'm guessing Joel Crothers slapping Kathryn Leigh Scott's butt was an unscripted moment.
When we watched the original series in the 60's and 70's we thought nothing of a fly on the forehead of Barnabas. Now seeing this it is really hysterical they filmed the fly landing like this and continued right on.

Yay, Burke. Hunky Burke!
That's great! Carolyn and Elaine from "Seinfeld" should get together and DANCE!!! Ha!! Ha!! Ha!!
LMAO the whole time! Awesome video! love it !
Elizabeth (GROANS WITH DISGUST) Oh Roger!
fantastic compilation
"It means more to me than anything I could STINK of." LOL
This is a hoot.....loved this show then & always will. Long Live Dark Shadows🐺🌚⚡🎭😱👹😁
1:17 For Me, She's Got It.
Lol at 3:58 "Thank you...ya f**kin' weirdo!"
Clarice Blackburn was the best actor of them all. I love Mrs. Johnson. She’s a treat!
Take the pills Vickie.....take the pills.....
Many good moments.
Hilarious! Thanks for the laughs.
i used to work with a woman named 'Rusty' who loved to talk about 'The Castle' - it was an apartment building in New York full of gay actors and Louis Edmond was one of the tenants.
According to what I've read, DS had many gay actors; Frid and Edmonds were apparently great friends. Joel Crothers, sadly, died of AIDS in 1985.

@5:10, it appears that Mrs. Johnson is the only philosopher on the show! She should have been a professor!
@6:05, that woman dancing looks like somebody from Creedmoor psychiatric hospital, with multiple mental disorders!
The guy at about 4:10 really couldn't remember the word "representation", could he? :D
Either Willie was doing something they didn’t want to show or the camera man like the dancing girl.
0:29 That Music Fits Just Right.
IT's Mommy !! ha ha that's cute.
The munamana part caught me off guard
3:53 That's How You Answer Him!
does anyone know if the guy that was dancing with carolyn at the very first scene at the blue whale was ebson stroll, from mchales navy. he looks just like him, and built like him. thank u.
Watching Nancy dance made me tingle in funny places.
BUT IT WAS HILAREOUS!!!
It means more to me then i can stink of...
