Fantastic level of detail on this new system! The first thing I’d want to do is replace all those short rx antennas with longer ones so they could actually be outside the body of a wing.
it seems like this could be great for pro work - run one band on 2.4 and the other on 900 and you get the benefits of short and long range RX/TX combo (as long as the quad is running the new RX - which looks great as well!)
Man what a great overview with plenty of details, great video Ian! I do not believe this will replace existing transmitters though because the LR1121 can't do FLRC at all, so F modes are completely out unless Semtech adds it to the chip. If they do, ExpressLRS webui now has a flasher for flashing the LR1121 firmware as well. You like firmware? We got like 19 firmwares per module now. Nobody can beat us on number of firmwares!
Can you better explain the 1800-1900 peak? It is only present when the module is broadcasting on 868/900MHz/ When you change to 2.4GHz, it is gone. I heard you blame a mobile carrier. Please explain. (around the 18:55 min mark)
This is perfect technology for large RC airplanes, both gasoline and turbine-powered, where maximum redundancy and safety are needed. Create PWM receivers, and you will gain a new, large market.
I use the betafpv gemini module in my boxer with the radiomaster RP4TD receiver in my 5 inch quads. The LQ doesn't move below 99 I barely look at my rssi dbm and LQ anymore cuz that's how locked in it is. I really only look at my MBPS for my video feed cuz that's my ONLY limiting factor on far I can fly. Well, that and battery power. Gemini is absolutely incredible! Gemini x 🤯 hopefully it's 5 times better than gemini
Hi Mad, love your videos! I am going to be trying to repair some drone parts. I don't really know how. Would you maybe be able to do a video on basic repair technics? Not really diagnosing, but what stuf to use and how to use it correctly.
A great review brother thanks a lot , and a small question , like as it has 2 frequency bands and it can bind to both the individual receivers at once right ?? , so is it possible to use 2 receiver in a ardupilot , one to control quad and other one to get the telemetry data( like flashing the other receiver to airport we can use it as a telemetry receiver ) ? as i know we need 2 set of uart on the module to get this worked i think ?? like one to controll quad and another one to connect to laptop or mobile for telemetry data ? or am i wrong ? , like if this is possible then we will end of saving about a lot of money , like a quality telemetry module is from 60$ and it goes on ,, plz clarify me on this brother , it helps a lot
@@fordboyzzzz yes brother Like I have seen people using elrs for telemetry data Like they will use one 2.4ghz module and rx to controller quad And another 900mhz module and rx to get the telemetry data And these both the receiver should be connected to different uart ports

Awesome overview ! I am brand new to Express ELRS and I have got this Nomad Gemini module for my TX 16S. I fly fixed wing and this allows redundancy and the Radio master ELRS RX's are literally half the price of mainstream RX's really impressed so far !!
can you do a vid on what hz is best for what you do? such as 250 vs 333 full because thats something i still struggle to understand, i know that 500 is faster then 250 but what does d and full mean?
Sort of. Main downsides are it’s slightly more expensive and somewhat larger. You also lose some modes when used with single-frequency 2.4GHz receivers.
Do you actually have to? AFAIK setup in betaflight normally looks like "okay, I have my receiver on UART 2" and that's it. Everything else is in the elrs configurator and lua scripts
@@NeilKagan I see. That preset usually just contains settings like if you have SPI or UART receiver, telemetry and RC smoothing. In this case you know it is UART, I don't know if you need RC Smoothing, but you can switch it on and off via toggle. I would probably disable smoothing for tests and just set select a proper port. The whole settings thing is in the different place anyways
You don't do anything in betaflight other than using an appropriate Feed Forward setting for the packet rate-- betaflight just sees channels data coming like it normally does in a single band setup.
So can we use the Nomad in dual 915mhz mode with a standard true D 915mhz rx and have 915mhz Gemini? 915mhz Gemini 100Full seems like the holy grail of LR ELRS.
Im getting into FPV just now , I just purchased the TX16s and this module , does anyone know if I need a specific frame that mounts that receiver? Sorry if this is a dumb question .
I swear Radiomaster is in a constant state of "Hold my beer." One company will do something, and then a few months later, Radiomaster comes along with something that invalidates it.
How much do we really need, come on! Isnt normal true diversity enough, lets learn to fly well first! Thanks, this hobby is just draining money now and leaves us wanting every month! ❤
I really appreciate the content that you are producing. This is indeed impressive technology and makes me want to move away from Crossfire. However, your opinion on FPV companies producing equipment for war efforts does not seem to extend to the unspoken reason why all the redundancy with Deja vu, gemini, frequency hopping, etc are being developed. These technologies are hardly necessary for your average FPV pilot as I regularly fly miles on the least expensive Crossfire Nano/Tango 2 (1W) combo. But, if I were to be piloting my aircraft in a hostile war environment, this is the RC technology I would be running. It would be interesting to hear your opinion on how war efforts are driving development ad manufacturing of FPV equipment. e.g. 30x30 FC stacks seem to be cheaper than ever........
I know right!, I can't believe all I had to do was spend 2+ days testing, recording and editing to get this $45 module. These people will say anything to get free gear.
Maybe they want everybody to keep it a secret and not explain exactly what it is. That's what they're doing their job explaining exactly what this product is. How dare they
Frsky already implemented this three years ago with their Tandem and later the Twin protocol. I don't think it's a coincidence it's called Gemini when FrSky's counterpart is called Twin. I believe the ELRS team stole this idea from Frsky when they got the TWIN-module in their hands for the implementation of ELRS.
ExpressLRS is an open source team, who basically work for free to develop it. Radiomaster is the company selling these modules and receivers, using ExpressLRS. So ExpressLRS must be horrible thieves for stealing something they are not profiting from themselves You also can't steal the idea of redundancy, which has been a concept of radio for decades

The price is quiet amazing.
Good times ahead for the people who were trying to unknowingly bind a 2.4GHz receiver with a 900MHz all this time.

Welcome to a new generation of pilots that don't need to understand about matching numbers to put a Fpv drone in the air 😂
Omg the amount of people who have messaged me about this
Now it makes sense why radiomaster never released their version of gemini.

Agree.
US$75 for both TX _and_ RX. Killer deal. Gotta love open source!
Awesome. Now to figure out where to run four antennas 😂
I’ve been waiting for this! Next we need dual band moxon antennas for long range
So smart making one module that will fit JR and Nano.
A brilliant elaboration on gemini/ELRS , very clear and thorough. Cheers.
Fantastic level of detail on this new system! The first thing I’d want to do is replace all those short rx antennas with longer ones so they could actually be outside the body of a wing.

Wow! This is impressive. Going to have to get one now. Now I gotta figure out where to those four antennas on the quad lol.
So with this we can send MAVLINK as well? Just started watching this.
Is it possible to hack it to 2W?
This is awesome! Might be a little difficult trying to fit a reciever that huge in a quad but still awesome!
It doesn't look any bigger than a 20x20vtx
44 bucks it's a steal. Glad to live these times :))))
There is compatibility issue with the nano adapter. Does not fit with normal nano module bay found in Frsky radios and TBS Tango 2 module bay addon.
