An original song that they did around this time was Love Again which has a similar futuristic vibe. Avi's bass is great and Mitch (equally good countertenor) takes lead so there is an impressive range. The beatboxing is also outstanding.
You are absolutely right, it is just really fun to watch people see these songs for the first time! Pentatonix knocks dance out of the park, they can rap (Can't Hold Us), they have amazing ballads (the Prayer), they reimagine Christmas songs in amazing ways (Little Drummer Boy), pop song 'upgrades' (Havana), originals (Coffee in Bed), old classics (Imagine)-- and honestly, for every category I listed, we all have different answers (and the answers change day to day!!). I'm excited for you! Thanks for posting.
Kevin wore the glasses because the blue contacts irritated his eyes. Avi is doing the wind sounds along with all the other sounds him and Kevin are sharing. Absolutely FANTASTIC.
The bass is Avi Kaplan (pronounced Ah-vee). He is the one with the corn rows. He does bass and Kevin Olusola (wearing the glasses) is percussion. They are the amazing rhythm section. Avi was the original bass and the group won 3 Grammy awards in the earlier days when he was onboard. This was Grammy win #1. The video was filmed in Avi and Kevin's apartment. The band is unique, super talented and creative. A 'Capella. Second Grammy win was Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (no words...no problem said Pentatonix) and the third Grammy win was a collaboration with Dolly Pardon of Jolene. Please also react to Hallelujah which has over 659 million views. You can also react to the live version. You have a magical journey ahead of you if you choose to go down the PTX rabbit hole. The fans, a.k.a Pentaholics, will support you all the way. Hope to see more PTX reactions and am subscribing specifically for that reason. Excellent reaction!
Avi (AH-vee) Kaplan, the guy doing the bass part (and the wind noises!), is an operatically trained singer. He is actually a basso profundo, meaning his range is lower than most bass singers. He left the group in 2017, mostly due to exhaustion from their intensive touring schedule, and because his mother was ill at the time, so he was traveling back home every chance he got. He now has a solo career, and you can find his videos on YT.
Great reaction songs for Pentatonix: The Sound Of Silence The Prayer Amazing Grace Bohemian Rhapsody A Little Space Coffee in Bed Cheerleader Radioactive Sing Can't Hold Us Say something Starships Break my Heart When the Party's Over Dreams Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy Havana New Rules x Are You That Somebody Butter x Dynamite Shallow Come Along Rather Be That should give you a good start. Welcome to being a Pentaholic. We meet daily on UA-cam to new reactions.
Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole lol. Would love for you to check out their Love Again, Into the Woods (ft Lindsey Sterling), Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody, Sound of Silence....and so so many more lol :)
I've been catching up on your PTX reactions. And I've been reading the comments and holding my own until I get caught up. But I have to say. Finally🤣🎧🎧🎧🎧❤
Scott Hoying is the tall blonde baritone, Kirstie Maldonado is the mezzo soprano(rhymes with thirsty) and Mitch Grassi is a counter tenor which is the highest level for a man to hit. They grew up together in Texas and have been performing together since they were 14. When the show Sing Off was on the air the recruited Avi Kaplan (masterful bass ) and Kevin Olusola for beatboxing (he also plays the cello). Avi left the band on good terms in 2017 and replaced with Matt Sallee. Kirstie and Mitch are chameleons, constantly changing their looks, hair etc so don't freak out thinking it's new members. When Avi and now Matt sing the solo part, Scott steps in as bass. They are musical geniuses. Most of the arrangements are done by Scott (plays piano). Basically Pentatonix fans are called Pentaholics. Pentatonix doesn't do just covers of songs, they upgrade those songs!
Actually Scott is a tenor, Kirstie is an Alto, Mitch is the incredibly rare (like rarer than flawless diamonds) adult male Alto, Avi Kaplan is a Basso Profundo (Bass), and Kevin doesn't sing in this song, but has a very pleasant but light tenor voice.
New sub for PTX-glad you’re enjoying them. Listen to Bohemian Rhapsody and Say Something when you can, and their version of Hallelujah has over 650 MILLION views!
As a side fun thing for yourself you should check out the live no mic video of them doing this. Its mind blowing how amazing they can reproduce their produced stuff live.
Kevin (vocal percussion) is a rabbit hole to study all by himself. He got his Pre-Med degree from Yale, plays the cello incredibly well, and apparently performed on the sax at Carnegie Hall at 17! And can sing. Dude is unreal.
Headphones baby ... you need headphones to hear that bass 🔊. And yes popular reactions right now are tom macdonald and Adam Calhoun- white Boyz. Pentatonix Home free Good luck on hitting 1k :)
I subscribed, so now you only need one more to hit 1000!!! Good luck! Also, love Pentatonix. Keep up the reactions with them. Also, Twenty Øne Piløts is lit! You should check them out. Ode to Sleep is a great intro video for them!!
Avi is actually a basso profundo. that means he's sower than a bass. he has blown speakers on several occasions. he also has what is called overtone which means he can sing two notes at one time. there is a video of him demonstrating how he does the overtone. I don't know how new you are to Pentatonix but there is a video called a beginner's guide to Pentatonix that will give you a real solid background on the group. Mitch the gentleman with the high voice is actually a countertenor Which is higher than his tenor. true countertenors are rare. PTX revolutionized acapella is done. You must wear headphones when listening to an acapella group. and the music reactor you should be wearing headphones all the time because you will not believe how much you actually miss. However that is merely a suggestion it is your Channel and you will do as you see fit which is perfectly alright. I don't know how many Pentatonix videos you've done because this is my first time on your Channel. I do know that the more Pentatonix reactions you do we pentaholics, the fans of ptx, will flock to your Channel

Daft Punk was the first of 3 back to back Grammys
For $400, they shot it in Avi and Kevin's Kitchen and recorded it in a closet. And to think they won a Grammy for this.
Yes, they won their first Grammy for this and garnered a contract.
Their 1st Grammy!!!!!!!

If you like a cappella and bass.. check out Voiceplay: My mother told me. Holy bass!!! I do love me some Avi Kaplan tho.. 😍
Avi the bass in this song is actually an opera trained Basso Profundo...the fullest of bass range.
they won a grammy for this performance....fun fact!!
