Thanks mate 👍 it's still packed here & had to move the tripod multiple times for cars to go past but got there in the end lol. Rooftop tent is definitely the way to go 😀👍
Hey mate great video. I have seen some people shorten the annexes to suit their tent height. The problem with the annexe walls sagging seems to be common amongst most of the different brand of roof top tent. Keep up the great content.
Thanks mate 👍 yeah I had been considering getting it shortened but I think I'll just upgrade rooftop tent in the future. But this has served us really well being used every single weekend lol
Couldn't agree more about the annex being great EXCEPT for the water ingress. The extra space isn't as valuable if it's flooded! I was hoping you were going to share a solution. Surely Tepui is aware of this?
I just don't use it if there's any chance of heavy rain. You can get it trimmed to suit your particular vehicle. It only let's the water in if it's sagging at the bottom. If you have the sides trimmed so there's no sagging water will run straight off rather than pooling at the bottom
Good for dry weather, but completely useless in any rain. Side walls are made of non waterproof fabric and it does not matter if they are sagging or not you'll always get a small pool inside in the morning.
I did try one of those nano sprays on a section of the rooftop tent but it turned it white so I didn't do any more. But I'm sure there's some kind of protection you could put on it
Top video, Paul. About how high is the floor from the ground on your set up? We have the same tent with the 6-man annex. Only got it out of its box today...should be good when it's up on the trailer.
Yeah that's it lol. Yeah the bottom does peg down. It still gave me an easy way to setup that my kids could sleep under me. Didn't have to pack extra swags or tents
Hi Paul, do you have an issue with Groove n Tongue when fully open the roof top tent? Mine does not engage and leave the flipping side (where the ladder is) elevated. Your feedback and solution (if encountered same problem) is highly appreciated. Also, with the bucket slack issue, I found if you put a a pulling rope from the middle annex tight to the top roof top tent ring where the rope attached so you can release (pull up) the slack (this is only a temporary method) it won't look great but it will better expose the bottom bucket to better protect from bottom water washing. For the back I(properly) stitched couple extra plastic rings..
Hi I personally don't have an issue with the groove lining up but I have heard of other people having the same issue. There was another cause to why my rooftop tent wasn't folding out flat. I noticed when my 2 black straps on the inside of the rooftop tent that stretch the entire length of the roof snapped it finally unfolded flat. So the 2 black straps were too tight not allowing it to unfold. Since they have broken we don't seem to have any issues at all. Thanks for the tips 👍
Gday MrRoma my firs kings tent had an issue similar to yours where it opened out 175° odd rather then 180° took it back and the guys at 4wd supercenter said that the hinge plate holes were not machined 100% centre to where they needed to be i would recommend taking it back and getting them to inspect due to if you keep trying to use it over time the metal will fatigue and eventually snap
I had a moderate rainfall overnight the first day with the annex and I realised the rain would just pour into the annex from the front opening because it doesn't have any eaves and the fact that the opening is facing slightly upwards. have you got any comment on that?
No sorry. You can only get it made custom to fit the height of your vehicle to reduce the sagging or add more tie down points to try and pull the walls out. I just don't use it if there's going to be any kind of rain. Besides rain it's excellent for the price though 👍
No its not made out of canvas like a swag. It's thin like a tent. Water will run down it without coming in so long as you remove any slack from the sides
Sorry I haven't had this rooftop tent in years so I can't remember. But if you go into your local 4wdsupacentre store they should hopefully have one setup and you can stretch it out and measure the optimal height
Measure how high your tent is. If the annexe is taught it doesn't leak. Only when sagging. I've got one and have not used it camping yet but set it up on my front lawn in Tassie. Mine sags a little. No where near this much and it does not leak at all.
Do you not realise how it works? You can only stretch as far as the floor will let you. Do you not understand the floor is attached to it so unless you rip the floor to bits to stretch it out further you are limited to how far you can stretch it. I really hate dumb comments like this 🤦♂️
I have only just come across your UA-cam channel and I have to say it’s very good. 👍
Thank you very much ☺ I love making the videos & want to help everyone get out there 👍
Love the kayaks in the background.
Haha cheers my kids absolutely love them 😀
Awesome Video Paul, finally got a chance to record footage... ;)
Love the setup. I do wish I had a roof top tent. Would be so much easier.

hi mate - how do people shorten their annex? cheers
You'll need to work out how much you need cut off & visit your local upholstery shop

Yes need tarp over annex when its raining
Good real world review mate. Thanks
Thanks mate 👍 that's what I aim to do 😀

Nice video! Can you make a video about the 6 persons annex ?
Thanks mate 😀 I don't have that yet but I could definitely buy it & do a review on it in the future 👍
Camping_downunder can i ask you also a other question ? On a email or a chat or something ? :)
@@JasonvanKemp of course send me a message on instagram if you like 👍
Done 😁👍🏼
Have you ever tried scothguarding the annex and tent? I wonder if it's safe for use on the canvas and how waterproof it would make it.

Thank you 😀 well I'm 6 foot & before I put my airbags in the rear I used to always hit my head but now I've got about 2cm clearance lol
Great value but I've recently returned from a trip where it rained and the inside of the annex was drenched.
Yeah they are great for summer but we never use it in any kind of rain anymore
Yeah that's it lol. Yeah the bottom does peg down. It still gave me an easy way to setup that my kids could sleep under me. Didn't have to pack extra swags or tents

I'm not sure sorry. I sold it a few months ago as I'm upgrading to the 23 zero
Gday mate are you supposed to weather the annex like a swag
No its not made out of canvas like a swag. It's thin like a tent. Water will run down it without coming in so long as you remove any slack from the sides
Cheaper annexes don’t use good fabric. Find a brand whose annex is made from the same material as the rain fly from the RTT.
Hi mate how many people fits on roof top tent ⛺️? Thanks
Hi you can fit 2 adults and maybe a small child
Lake Bonney?
Yep 😀👍
What it the ideal/max height for the Annex?
Sorry I haven't had this rooftop tent in years so I can't remember. But if you go into your local 4wdsupacentre store they should hopefully have one setup and you can stretch it out and measure the optimal height
Talked me out of it 👍good info
🤣🤣 I'm always honest 👍

Yeah that's right
@@Campingdownunder it's been pissing down here for the last month. And i had it set up for a few weeks.
Lol maybe peg the annex out a bit further

@@CampingdownunderLol. "Im always honest" Well said.
I can't stand flapping and sagging gear
You must of got a good one cause there useless otherwise
Lol water is the only issue I've had with them 👍
