I can't think of too many popular musicians whose voices have held up as well as Elvis Costello's. His timbre is just stunning for a man in his mid sixties singing a song he wrote in his early twenties.
I think this is a magical piece of TV, Been an Elvis Presley fan as a child, know about the guitar and now Elvis Costello playing it, how fantastic with his great song Alison. After seeing this bought a Costello 'best of' some real great numbers there. Saw Elvis Costello yesterday in Berwick St., a real nice guy.
Alison played by young McManus on Elvis' guitar in front of Priscilla and Elvis superfan, Jonathan Ross. That was a great tv moment (for fans of Messrs Presley and Costello) Thanks for posting.
Excellent description. Gave me chils as well :-) I saw him perform, 2 June 1978 at UCSB (University of California Santa Barbara campus). Here is the school newspaper write up from the following Monday. www.elviscostello.info/wiki/index.php/UC_Santa_Barbara_Daily_Nexus,_June_5,_1978
Seriously? No comments? Thanks for posting this it's petty special. One of my all time favorite Costello songs live with Presley's guitar. Goose bumps!
Love this, my daughter is called Alison (Ali) 😁 lovely tribute to Elvis....Love Priscilla, but Danny spoilt it, no need for that language, no respect for the lady sitting next to him!!!! 😡😡
My whole life I never like Elvis Costello. Until recently. The whole My Aim Is True album is great, mainly cause Huey Lewis and The News were his backing band. But I will say this was a dynamite performance, on God's Guitar. Elvis died for our musical sins.

stevie wonder
Bang on mate. Elvis to me anytime is a living legend
So many reasons this was a kick ass moment

Love you Elvis! Remember when we first heard this at Jerry Misfeldt's house.❤
He's got the coolest vibrato and warmth to his voice.
I’m late, Ur soo right!
One of those amazing singers who can change the mood in a room by starting to sing.
Elvis Costello....just ridiculously amazing.
Elvis C playing Elvis Ps guitar..what a moment!
Made me cry, amazing
I love the way he can mix it up and make any song his own. He is so fricking talented👏👏👏
Loved both those Elvis's ❤
Absolutely brilliant 👏, love it ❤
Wow. Lovely Elvis C tribute to Elvis The One and Only P
Just absolutely amazing performance. Pricelles Face and expression says it all, the pain and emotion
She was probably thinking about her time with the karate instructor
Wow. Such a voice. What a fabulous impromptu performance.
One of a kind, Elvis Costello.
Well, that made me cry.
I love the reactions of the host and other guests...they know they became of a part of a historically beautiful performamce

He's still got it...

Wonderful!!
His voice has not changed from the original Costello release in 1977. Incredible.
What a master stroke to end with a line from Suspicious Minds... brilliant!!
Amazing.....you can tell Jonathon Ross is blown away BUT poor Priscilla can't even crack a smile LOL
Yeah how good was that..... love in the form of a song.
Just...super cool 😎
Wow!
That made me cry!
Tremendous
Nobody does a break up song like Elvis.
Top top professional.
I'm not crying
I am!
wossy knows this is epic the look on his face says it all
Yes, Wow
Wow re the Elvis Presley guitar
My aim is true ❤️❤️❤️❤️
that was impressive.
Love this, my daughter is called Alison (Ali) 😁 lovely tribute to Elvis....Love Priscilla, but Danny spoilt it, no need for that language, no respect for the lady sitting next to him!!!! 😡😡
Totally agree, well said 👍
Danny iwas just being Danny, he was clearly moved by the moment and what was just about to happen.
I saw a guitar for sale on a shop window and the position markers were inlaid with the name BARRY 😬
I like it when he sings "We're caught in a trap"
That’s the kinda shi…tuff that sticks to your soul.
Beautiful. I can't imagine Priscilla being so willing to hand it over if it was Pete Townshend on the show instead.
Ha ha ha !!!!
Pete fostered a long line of guitar abusers. Never underestimate the influence hard drugs has on a musician.
She was clearly moved and I was too.
Pricilla looks like she's so over it all.
Epic fucking moment.

Pricilla seems nuts.
he will sing with Draco Rosa, a bigger latin singer .
Who is the red head ?
@Van Die Ex-WIFE you mean....
@Van Die Priscilla Presley, Elvis Presley's ex wife
@Van Die Oh cmon. No it isn’t. This is Priscilla, his widow.
Ditz much sonny?
All ways great, but our shy lad (really not) is afraid to look at her.
He’s pukka
The early Elvis would have sung it much better. This guy, I don't know him anymore.
Fuckin play already
I love this song, but this rendition... not so much.
Just don't get E Costello. Strange voice, odd personality.
Terrible, just dreadful. Give it up, Costello, your voice was done decades ago.
