Jack Dempsey same! I'm a straight cis female and I've learned sooo much from ty and other LGBT youtubers. I started watching videos to become more educated when my cousin came out as gay. I always had accepted him for who he is and I never cared he was gay, but I wanted to educate myself and learn how to be a good support and ally for him. I've learned sooo much & it's opened my eyes a lot. Someone I know said the word tranny when referring to a MTF person the other day and without thinking twice I went off on them cos I was disgusted they used that term. So if there's any gay or trans or LGBT members reading this, know you have my full support & I'll do my part to educate the people in my life :)

interesting. glad she's now presenting how she actually wants to and that she has the courage. i wonder if there's some biological/genetic reason for this or if it's just coincidence. idk it's just cool to see people that aren't that distant in relation are both trans.
There are more trans people among neurodivergent people. Which is genetic.
While neither Ty or Tristan are ND for what I know, it suggests a genetic component, yes.
Maybe that you are more anti-authoritarian, and therefore less likely to suppress your true gender in order to fit in .

Drummerdudegirl I'm a little late, but testosterone speeds up the ageing process. Think about puberty and how it's a timed release of the hormones. You start injecting, and pow, process gets sped up exponentially.

my cousin and i are both trans. she is mtf and im ftm, we are a year apart like you two except i am the younger one. I came out a long time before she did.
Hell yeah. I'm MTF with an FTM cousin. We're only about a year apart. I came out to friends and family first, but he got started in HRT before me. We live states away from eachother, but we were close as kids when we did get to see eachother.

I think a large part of the hostility towards trans women is, as you two mentioned, the fact that men and traditional masculinity seem to be held to a higher standard and generally very well-received in society, and people seem to interpret trans women as 'rejecting masculinity' when they transition, or even just when they openly and actively acknowledge their identity.
erinisyoung ppl are just harder on men anyway. the idea that men aren't supposed to cry, supposed to be tough, etc. so if the mtf trans is seen by ppl as still male then it's easier for ppl to give her a hard time. also it's harder for mtf in general to pass bc testosterone already created permanent features like thick jaw and voice

I'm FTM and I have an MTF cousin! She also lives in the south and it is hard because she is also still in high school. We have a pretty big age difference and also live far away so we didn't really develop much of a relationship but one is starting to form a little more now that we both know about each other being trans. It is crazy, but also nice to have that knowledge of support within the family.
Y'all aren't alone! I am FTM, and my younger first cousin is MTF. It has brought us closer, and it is definitely nice to have someone who understands in the family. I think she has had a harder go of it, coming out first and transitioning first for the same sexist reasons y'all mentioned. Best of luck to both of you!
hey ty! just wanted to say that my cousin and I are both trans, too---she's MTF and I'm FTM! we're second cousins once removed, though, so we didn't meet each other until we were older (I was 17, she was 23). we clicked immediately though and understood each other so well! it's really cool to be able to relate to a family member like that

19!!! I'm going to be 20 in November. And I look 12. Then again I just recently came out and am pre-T. I really wish I would have started earlier. Ty, shockingly unlike most Transguys actually looks older than he is.

me and my older sibling are both trans (I'm ftm and she's mtf) and id like to know if you at all felt awkward or weird about being closely related to someone who's also trans? I sometimes question whether I'm actually trans because my parents don't want to accept me as trans because I didn't show "typical" signs unlike my older sibling did and it's making me scared to attempt to begin my medical transition.
my older sibling and I are both nb trans so for a while i felt kind of insecure about it, but now I'm more secure in who I am and I know that I'm not trans just because my older sib is
oh, thats really nice to hear! my parents refuse to take me seriously because it wasn't obvious like it was with my older sibling and because i had came out first my parents assumed i made my older sibling trans and confused them and then a whole lode of not so good stuff happened and now my parents are very awkward about it. but its nice to know that isn't not just me! thank you!

Thanks for this! I always felt weird about me and my cousin being trans. The coincidence was too unreal. I came out to her, but she came out to our family first so I was always worried about how they would react to another trans family member. This video is giving me a bit more hope, but I think I am just going to transition on my own and then see how they react afterwards. Good luck with future content!
I'm a closeted FTM right now cos I'm in the same situation with a family that I don't think would accept me or understand or be kind at all, but then suddenly a year ago my cousin just came out as trans, too (MTF)! I'm so proud of her for having the courage that I don't, but just felt like sharing. Now you know of at least one more cousin pair, haha. Of course, the biggest difference between you two and us, is that she just turned 18 a couple months ago, and I just turned 28 earlier this month, and we don't really ever hang out. I'm hoping to change all that in the future and just exchanged phone numbers with her and her mom this past Thanksgiving family get-together. I really love your videos, the ones I've seen so far, and plan to subscribe and watch more as I work through my own struggles. Thanks!

this was actually really cool to see because im a trans guy and i have a cousin who came out as mtf like years ago (now identifies as genderqueer) so it was kinda the opposite of you guys! they came out first and kinda made it easier within my family for me to come out especially because like you said for some reason trans guys are often more accepted. sadly they live across the country from me so i havent got to see them since i came out but anyways this video just kinda made me happy because it reminded me of my experience!

Me and my first cousin both identify as genderqueer. I'm biologically female, he's biologically male, and there's a couple of years between us, but we've always been more like siblings than cousins, we have that 'telepathic bond' that you talked about, we've always been each other's best friend.
It's fascinating to see you guys have a similar story.

My cousin and I are similar to you two. I transitioned to male but my cousin, he hasn't fully accepted he's attracted to males, so he's living two lives. One with his family in Hawaii where they believe he's straight. And he moved to Seattle for college where he's open to my family and his new community.

I'm FTM and I have a cousin who came out a couple months before me as FTM too, we're both on T now and for the most part our family seems cool with it. Mostly with the women in our family, most of the men seem less accepting, it's kinda like every time they refer to me as male it sounds slightly sarcastic or mocking
thank you for showing me as a gay person more about the trans world I really love learning more about everyone especially in the LGBT group

There really isn't much about trans relatives, but I'm so happy you guys did this video because me and my older sibling are ftm trans and even as both of us being ftm we have different experiences.

Old video now but... my younger sibling and I have always been gender non-conforming and we are assigned opposite sexes at birth. I'm trans (I haven't come out to my family yet but I am reasonably close to - doing it in stages) but my younger sibling is extremely shut down, doesn't talk to anybody at all, not even a hello/bye to my parents, has no friends... I have a lot of internalised transphobia to navigate towards myself (we grew up in an extremely transphobic/cisnormative setting) but I think my sibling has even more, and I worry that it may never be a possibility for them to ever be happy and fulfilled within themselves. But for sure, there have been many moments of "if they got the girl body and I got the boy body"... and in fact it was me making this statement to a friend that made them ask "do you think you're trans" and that made me realise I am. And I will always be aware of how my more masculine behaviour and roles (wanting to do absolutely everything my father did, being extra sporty etc) were all admired and celebrated whereas my younger sibling was shamed for growing long hair and nails, wearing hair accessories and dresses, speaking in a feminine voice, etc. A lot of the shaming was done by me, too, and I am so, so unhappy that I did this. But... we learn and change, I guess, it's the best I can do now.

This is awesome! When I came out it was easy for me to transition because I was not the first in the family. My mom's sister/ my aunt is also transgender MtoF and I have 2 cousins 1 how is 10 years older and another who is 5 years younger then me who are also MtoF.....I'm just glad both my parents have been supportive of me being so, and addresses me as their daughter 😊 family is everything ❤️👍🏼
Nope, I've got it in my family. I've got 2 first cousins that are F2M transitions on my dad's side. So it does exist... You're not totally alone, though as you said it wasn't an F2M and a M2F but still, cousins just the same 😘 You two are awesome, thanks for sharing your stories

Aww 😞 I'm so sorry Tristan's family wasn't accepting of who she is! She seems sweet and kind! I would love a child regardless, I don't understand how people can just do that! I can't have children of my own but I would definitely be proud of my son or daughter for being themselves! Ty, love your videos!
Strangely enough, I am FTM and my cousin is MTF! She is completely out to all of the family and so far I am out to everyone except my family due to religious circumstances. This is super interesting! I've never known anyone else's family to be like this either!

I have a cousin who's almost 40 I think and he came out as a trans guy after I did. He said I gave him the courage to come out too. It was really sweet. We're at two totally different points in our life so its hard to relate. Also, he's in Texas and not on T. So its very different for him.

It’s really crazy so I’m mtf transgender and my cousin is ftm transgender so he has been on hrt longer for more than a year and I’ve been on hrt for 7months. I have been out longer but kinda went back and forth a little bit with the whole social transitioning due to well society being crapy. Which is even more crazy that me and my cousin birthdays are in the same month of December. I’m so happy for him straight up :D
