Karina Gerhardt-Strachan earned a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree with distinction from Queen’s University (Kingston, ON, Canada), majoring in Health Studies and minoring in German. This cemented her interest in health & wellness, cultivated from growing up immersed in a holistic understanding of health & wellbeing. She then went on to complete a Master of Arts in Health Studies, also at Queen’s, in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies.
During her degrees, however, Karina continually noticed a missing piece in discussions of health and health promotion. This inspired her leading-edge Master’s thesis research which explored the under-discussed topic of the place of spirituality in Canadian health promotion. The broad, non-denominational view of spirituality she presents covers key insights from her research, including the language of spirituality, the materiality of spirituality and the connection between spirituality and mental health.
Just like a tree offers shade on a hot summer’s day, the insights gained from Karina’s research offer solace against a bleak view of the world. They provide a new lens for viewing ourselves, others and the environments in which we live, work and play.
Karina lives her academic research on a daily basis. She is a yoga teacher as well as a life & wellness coach, passionate about nurturing all levels of being - body, mind and spirit. She can be contacted at www.karina-gerhardt-strachan.offeringtree.com

Very powerful questions to ponder. I really enjoyed your talk, Karina. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. "Nature does not hurry" - love those words of wisdom from Lao Tsu.

I enjoyed your insights and the flow of your talk, like riding a delightful series of ripples on the sun sparkle of a peaceful body of water. One was as interesting as the next, and I kept wanting more! Very inspiring and I shall bookmark and listen again and again! Thank-you for sharing and perhaps one day, you will ( and should) have a book in the medical library! 💫

One of the more enjoyable and relevant talks I've seen lately, especially since it's helped to shed even more light on my current trials and tribulations. Now it's time for me to unplug from this machine for a while and go out into the beautiful sunshine of Sunday afternoon.

Thank you Karina! It's a powerful question: Are you connecting to the parts of you that make you human? And in this time when I find myself scrambling about I'm glad to be reminded of Lao Tsu's wisdom, that nature does not hurry. Everything is accomplished. Ahhhh :-)

Greed of wealth stared two world wars and killed millions of people. Does that mean earning wealth is the elephant 🐘 in your room ? 😂
