    .objs files can be accessed directly from the PointFileInTOP without needing to convert, the wiki contains all the formats that are accepted by such node

      This is because importing your .obj as a SOP, converting it into a CHOP and then re-converting it into a TOP just for it to be use for pointcloud instancing is extremely demanding for your CPU and will only cause issues on the long run.
      (and also because both .obj and .ply are attribute collectors and can be read in a very similar way)

      @@JY_8627 had that not been the case, converting an .obj to a .ply with some clever use of Blender would still be a far better choice than doing live multi-family conversions that would inevitabily slow down your network for something that can be fixed with 5 more minutes of work (okay maybe it's not that fast if you're new to Blender and considering how Blender is still decades behind the other 3D softwares but you get the idea)
