I used to think these guys were just an 80's novelty act until I heard all their stuff. This has to be their best cut. I love all those great guitar riffs from all those great songs. The Cats prove that you don't need technology to create great rock n' roll.
Gene Vincent & Eddie Cochran. What a combination. The more I listen to music like this, and the music America did back in the 1950's, I am convinced that much of America's future lies in it's past!
This is one helluva GREAT tribute song to Gene(Vincent) and Eddie (Cochran). Yea...the 'cats were the best neo-rockabilly band, anyway live. Really dig those Clipp Gallup licks Brian does.Great stuff!
Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, The Everly Brothers and Jerry Lee Lewis, and Chuck Berry and Little Richard came over to the the UK...and they nailed it! Big Time....and then came Eddie Cochran!....Nuclear Explosion!! The Debris is Still Falling!!
el mejor dando un tributo a dos grandes rock and rollers, gene vincent y eddie cochran, cuando eddie murio su madre le regalo a bryan setzer la mayoria de sus prendas y cosas personales, quien mejor para revivirlo
This is one of their more obscure B-sides. The title refers to 50s rockers Gene “Be Bop-a-Lula” Vincent and Eddie “Summertime Blues” Cochran. These were the guys Brian patterned his 3-minute riff-based verse-and chorus songs after. Grease back your hair and give it a listen. I dare you not to dance!
I had remembered Gene Vincent and had heard Summertime Blues. Setzer got me more into Eddie Cochran. Sad he died too early. Such a talent. Btw/ Brian played him in La Bamba.
I see Eddies memorial every day... A young man taken from us , way too early, on a downhill bend on Rowden Hill in Chippenham, Wilts, UK. 1960... The fans do him proud with a lovely monument and still fresh flowers mostly every day... He was, and is, loved...
Makes me sad that the top 100 guitar tabs recommended now a days on websites are fucking bruno mars and justin beiber songs. Well, fuck that I'm gonna learn this kick ass song on guitar
Too many people thinking that the Beatles created rock (when they actually have done a lot of harm to it) should know that we previously rocked with GENE AND EDDIE!!
Real music was pretty much dead by the early 80s when I was doing my teenage stuff. Thank God for musical throwbacks like these fellers and the Destroyers.
Gene Vincent's granddaughter has a new, all-girl, rockabilly blues band "pedals & pistols." a few of their practices were filmed and posted on UA-cam. They're from the bay area and their music is a lot of fun!
And like Hendrix they had to go to England to get 'discovered' and signed to a record label. Their first two records were not released in USA, you had to get them in the import section.
the saddest part is that i only discovered them like a month ago, learned about the tour yesterday, and came to the conclusion that the concert in belgium (9th of sept) and the one in holland is already sold out :((((
As a big Eddie Cochran fan this was definitely refreshing to watch. It's also good to see some archive footage of the man and a tribute song to him. Defintely not a fan of Gene Vincent tho. I can't belive Vincent lived just to waste his life on drugs and booze.
Brian Setzer is a complete and total genius!
Man, we need another rockabilly revival!
Go to one of the clubs..or festivals..Hemsby..Shakedown etc its still going strong from the 80s
I feel like a stranger in this world cause I am a proud rockabilly
Ultimate tribute to Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent. Thanks guys for this. And , Brian you did a great job as Eddie in La Bamba.

So happy that Brian is paying tribute to the great Eddie Cochran!!

This is an inspiring song....long live the power of rock and roll 🎶🎸🎵🎼
I used to think these guys were just an 80's novelty act until I heard all their stuff. This has to be their best cut. I love all those great guitar riffs from all those great songs. The Cats prove that you don't need technology to create great rock n' roll.

Gene Vincent & Eddie Cochran. What a combination. The more I listen to music like this, and the music America did back in the 1950's, I am convinced that much of America's future lies in it's past!
This is really a great tribute to two of the "forgotten" original rock and rollers...
This is one helluva GREAT tribute song to Gene(Vincent) and Eddie (Cochran). Yea...the 'cats were the best neo-rockabilly band, anyway live. Really dig those Clipp Gallup licks Brian does.Great stuff!
Those were the days.I wish i could go back there.
RIP Gene and Eddie ... Awesome song, love that it's basicly combining the lyrics from many of their famous songs, very cool :-)
And licks. Hey. You're only as cool as who you steal from.

Great tribute to two of the often forgotten Original Rock & Rollers....
i can't believe that this song was never released as a single..it had top 10 potential.
fantastic song, can only be played LOUD !
In a better world, this would never been a huge hit. Always a favorite of mine by the Cats.
This Stray cat track is the most
Be Bop a Lula She's My Baby
You should get into Rockabilly, I used to be like a 70's heavy metal kind of guy but Rockabilly is just so much better.

Incredible nods to Cochran and Vincent!
I had remembered Gene Vincent and had heard Summertime Blues. Setzer got me more into Eddie Cochran. Sad he died too early. Such a talent. Btw/ Brian played him in La Bamba.

Great tribute by The Stray Cats to two great Rockabilly cats : Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran
Brian setzer has outlived gene vincent & eddie cochran combined! Guess he held on tight LMFAO

Yeah, baby!!!
If I had to explain rock 'n' roll music to an alien with just one song, this would be it.

Thank God for musical throwbacks like these fellers and the Destroyers.

Questions like this should not be asked.
The Teencats have a nice little song on UA-cam called "Gene and Eddie" also.
Gene Vincent's granddaughter has a new, all-girl, rockabilly blues band "pedals & pistols." a few of their practices were filmed and posted on UA-cam. They're from the bay area and their music is a lot of fun!

Well, Reverend Horton Heat played on Cartoon Network one time. I still hope for it to happen again.

And like Hendrix they had to go to England to get 'discovered' and signed to a record label. Their first two records were not released in USA, you had to get them in the import section.

You should explore the Genre you might like other related styles of music like psychobilly or find other artists you like more!
Try The Cramps!
I must see these guys next time they play.. Kick ass music
Best rockabilly song ever written.
loving it...xx
@SDADSDSFDSGDA
Making a tribute song using lyrics, riffs and licks of several huge classic songs, and make it sound good, is pretty hard..
As a big Eddie Cochran fan this was definitely refreshing to watch. It's also good to see some archive footage of the man and a tribute song to him. Defintely not a fan of Gene Vincent tho. I can't belive Vincent lived just to waste his life on drugs and booze.
Love it their best.
c'est juste trop bon vive les stray cats
