just wanna clarify i dont think music is entirely responsible for these crimes. obv u gotta be crazy in the first place to do any of this, just interesting how ppl have connected music to these crimes!
If you ever think about part 2, cover Pookie Loc robbery on Gucci Mane, which went wrong for first one mentioned, but was the one that clearly started from lyrics by Jeezy and put whole Jeezy - Gucci beef on another level (references in their music and murder case for Gucci). Also, Locc 2 Da Brain by Brotha Lynch Hung was mentioned few times as a motivator for crimes.
You should look more into the Manson stuff, him as well as the unabomber were direct influences of the MK Ultra experimentation. Charles Manson had a get out of jail free card because all the cops were told that him regularly being released on serious crimes was "Above their pay grade."
You can't make music about crimes but, you must take into account your delivery on vocals but that comes from the intention of writing it. An example is apnea by currents. It's about what would happen if a normal human caught a rapist.
Even using terms like "Catching bodies" is sorta part of the problem. I feel like It kinda undermines the gravity of what is describes. You catch a base ball, you murder a person and take them away from their family and friends forever and cause imense hurt. I guess its a sort of desensitization through language.
The Linkin Park story shocked me because I'm a huge fan but I didn't expect anyone to do a crime especially as severe as Charles. Papercut and In The End is a song I relate to a lot and I wouldn't want to hurt anyone.
That’s because you are a normal person and not a psychopath. Every person who commits crimes are all influenced by something. That’s why saying that “x” is the “cause” is so stupid, because if “x” didn’t become the push, then “y” would have. You can’t blame the push and say it was the cause.
‘Look at your game’ is a Manson song he tried to give to Neil Diamond but was rejected. It’s a really good tune but when I discovered it was Manson it felt weird to revisit. It’s also in ‘once upon a time in Hollywood’
I can confirm you are tripping about the meaning of "bodies". I knew Dave from the DFW music scene and I remember when they wrote bodies. It was a mosh song meant to get the crowd pumped. Clubs like the gypsy tea room and trees were his inspiration for the lyrics; rowdy. He was all heart and a good spirit.
Of course "Bodies" is misinterpred. Only few people realise that this song is actually "It's rainning man" by Weather Girls from different point of wiev.
There’s one I’d like to add that I didn’t see in the time stamps. The one that comes to my mind most is Israel’s Son by Silverchair inspiring 2 teens to commit a triple murder back in the 90’s. The lead singer of Silverchair named Daniel Johns was very upset about the idea of one of his songs being a huge inspiration for the murder. It includes lyrics like “Hate is what I feel for you, I want you to know that I want you dead”. To these teens, they took the lyrics too seriously. EDIT: I forgot to mention that all the members from Silverchair were 15-16 years old when the murders happened. They seemed to have a rough time dealing with it from interviews I read.
Just read that another motive for Charles Williams was also possible sexual molestation. Long after his arrest and trial, he mentioned being molested by an older man who hung around him and his skating group. In 2011, that man, Chris Reynolds, was sentenced to 40 years for sexually abusing multiple adolescent boys. Of course, not saying this justifies any shooting (in case anyone jumps to that), just that it is a crucial part to understanding where his anger likely emanated from as well as how trauma can greatly change how we perceive things that give us an emotional outlet (i.e. music and art).
Dont forget he was in the Mk ultra project by the cia just like ted kaczynski the unabomber he was recruited as a Teenager and put on high doses of psychedelics. The cia is also most likely the reason he got out of going to prison multiple times
That Chief Keef kid is honestly just sad, just an ignorant kid playing grown up thinking that it was cool to kill and was saying he loved o'block but was from Oklahoma?? The internet can really twist kids minds for the better or the worst. Parents rlly should be getting themselves involved though if his mom knew he and his friends were "wanna be gangsters" she should have sat him down and talked about the reality he actually lives in and how blessed/lucky he is to NOT be in the position of the people who actually live in Parkway Gardens and other projects where violence is a daily occurrence..
"When a dude's getting bullied and shoots up his school and they blame it on Marylin and the heroin, now where we're the parents at?" -also Eminem, "The Way I Am"
Another one was the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007, Seung-Hui Cho had the lyrics to the Candlebox song Shine written on the walls of his dorm room and his roommates heard him play the song on repeat over twenty times before the massacre. I think that it's further proof these kinds of things are all in the minds of the killers, that song is positive to a corny degree and sounds so wholesome and harmless that it's still regularly played in supermarkets. The chorus is "Whoa-ho-ah-ho, heaven let your light shine down." and he took it as an anthem for murder. Can't blame Candlebox for that...
Pekka-Eric Auvinen, a school shooter from Finland, made a threat video to his school with KMFDM - Stray Bullet playing background. He killed 9 (including himself) and injured 12. Many people later told that the song was more about premature ejaculation than shooting with guns. 😅
Dude, it's kinda insane to see how far you've come. Basically every vid you've made released has over 100k views, shit is awesome to see man, happy to see all this fucking growth.
I remember Bodies by Drowning Pool came on my Pandora the day after the Eagles of Death Metal concert mass shooting. After reading everything the victims were saying, listening to that song just gave me a pit in my stomach. I still love the song but damn
I'm surprised you didn't mention the murder of Elyse Pahler. It's a very brutal story and probably deserves its own video. The guys who did it happened to listen to Slayer a lot and wanted to do a sacrifice for their own metal band to be successful (plot twist: it wasn't). The victim's parents tried to sue Slayer for influencing the killers and of course it didn't go anywhere -- Slayer was not found liable. The guys all got life sentences after one of them converted to Christianity, confessed, and revealed where her body was. She was only 15. Breaks my heart.
It's a very little known fact that the Gordon Lightfoot hit "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" inspired a rogue freighter captain to deliberately scuttle a vessel by the same name, killing all 29 crew members aboard
Gotta love to see "Bodies" being mentioned, the most perfect metal song, RIP Dave Williams, but yeah i agree with the statement, like how would they think lets write a theme for murderers, like the bridge most definately depicts moshing, like it seems like your are agreeing with the media that drowining pool made it about murder
As a kid, I was absolutely fancinated by the whole Manson saga. I was very young during the Satanic Panic, so I think I was just shocked that people could keep claiming music made them do bad things.
I find that strange with the whole violent music makes you angry as ive read many studys on how the more extreme heavy metal genres actually calm you down as the music is so aggresive it helps you relieve your anger as the music helps you actually express and vent these feelings and majority of the lyrics are violent for sure lol. And some studys have actually found people that listen to heavy metal to be some of the most happy go lucky people getting around
I have a video idea. What if you did a video about "The First". Like for example: 'The first hip hop artist to receive a Grammy' or 'the first artist to be in a major film.' you can do a series of it or you can just shotgun it and have a list of first in any music.
Tormentor of Christian Souls by Dimmu Borgir is a fantastic metal song. And maybe not the best Christian, I am one. The argument that heavy music causes violent behavior is the same as pokemon are the devil or GTA makes people commit crimes.
I can think of one crime inspiring a song... The Boomtown Rats hit, 'I Don't Like Mondays' was about the Grover Cleveland Elementary School shooting on 29 January, 1979, by Brenda Spencer. When asked by a reporter, why she would commit such a crime, Spencer replied, "I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day".
I know this video is kind of "old" at 2mo, but I wanted to say that I think the topics u select are fascinating--esp the musicians who disappeared one. Keep it up!
Yo the James Edwards story is crazy because my teacher told us about and how that was his little cousin who shot the cricket/baseball player. He told my class that he shot him because his friends that were in the car said that he was scared to shoot someone.
I feel like the music itself isn’t to blame when awful things happen and the person and/or people that are responsible for the action(s) that took place say they were inspired to do so by a certain song or songs because different people could take the lyrics of a song and it makes them think or feel differently from how the song was originally meant. I think that with the James Edwards case, scientifically, the rational part of the teen brain is not yet fully developed, so it makes sense that they would be quick to sometimes make irrational decisions. I feel like maybe if there had been a responsible adult present, that never would’ve escalated into an actual murder taking place. I also think that perhaps James and his friends were a bad influence on each other; maybe it was Chancey’s idea and he kind of peer pressured Michael and James into thinking it was all fun and games. I found this video to be very interesting! 🤔
Manson was such a a little stupid little goofy little guy, blackbird was about the civil rights movement and Paul McCartney's support of it and helter skelter was literally about a roller coaster 💀

Surprised you didnt mention the several crimes and murders commited by mental ICP fans and Juggalos. As an ICP fan with no interest in committing crimes, it's a fascinating and equally upsetting situation, especially considering that, because of the crimes, Juggalos as a whole were labeled as an official Gang by the FBI.
if you ever did a part 2 of this, i'd love to see the case of Joseph Edward Gallegos and him allegedly killing his friends while motivated by "Locc 2 Da Brain" by Brotha Lynch Hung
I don't believe just because some media is violent it makes people more violent it's a common myth thrown particularly at violent games and music Manson blamed the Beatles probably one of the most commercial bands ever who was reasonably clean cut.
Ok i haven't watched the first matrix or really any of them in a while but when tf did neo have or use a shotgun? M16s, mp5s, micro uzis, barettas and scorpions but no shotguns.
I joke but I'm a firm believer that blaming media (songs, movies, tv, video games ECT.) is just a way to avoid talking about the underlying mental health issues that ALL these people have. It's easier to blame something than it is to truly try and understand the cause and help others before they also get to the point of murder
