Fun fact about this movie since I haven't seen anyone say it in the comments yet, the entire part of the movie after Sylvia gets shot by the Railgun (TBD) and before it shows Crewzuma returning to Axel is completely original to the movie And it's an absolutely perfect addition, everything is completely in character, it all makes perfect sense, the conflict is resolved through Kazuma's popular phase, it's cool and funny asf Just perfect
I wouldn´t say everything about the added part is perfect or makes sense. Everybody acts in character, yes. It looked cool, sure. But it really made no sense how Sylvia came back to life with the dead generals powers (hell, going by one of the bonus stories from the later LNs, the slime isn´t even actually dead). Honestly something like "her troops who worshiped her allowed themselfs to be absorbed to save her" would have made much more sense then "stolen powers from the afterlife".
wasn't there a rule at the LN that if your body is less than something percent in volume you can't be revive? if there is, then this move broke the rule.
Extra (and last, for now) info and lore/cut content from the movie/Book 5 (warning: extra long comment because of how much is in Book 5/the movie, but tried not to repeat stuff from the previous reaction.) The beginning is also the only time Vanir appears in the LN. He also gives Kazuma a vision, which warns him that a party member’s fate will change depending on his words, so basically a branching path/character route (the LN makes who’s the main love interest known, so if you don’t want to know, skip the section where I start talking about the scene of the aftermath of Sylvia’s fate.) As a noticeable change, I have to mention that Kazuma’s deal is confirmed in the LN and that all he has to do is wait a bit to give him the massive lump sum, so debt is now a myth when he gets the money. 6:51 - Wiz does not teleport Kazuma’s Party randomly in the LN. Instead, they are teleported to near Alcanretia (the hot springs town) to be closer to the village and intercept Yun Yun. They have a short encounter with a monster known as the Tranquility Girl, a mimic-type plant monster girl that looks like an injured little girl and she talks all cutesy to guilt you into staying by her side forever. You become her fertilizer this way and is (sadly) a way many elderly choose to go out, but in peace. As Kazuma’s Party (regretfully) leave her, Kazuma goes back to promise the monster to not kill/trick Yun Yun when she passes by, seeing as the monster never killed/tricked before. Funnily enough, there’s a famous meme in the fan translation (Kaz from MGSV saying about being played like a fiddle) and Kazuma kills the monster offscreen and gains a lot of experience, which the girls misinterpreted as Kazuma being a heartless psychopath/getting back at Aqua’s taunt. They have a camping scene where Kazuma keeps watch with Megumin. Earlier, Kazuma talks about his life in Japan, which makes a Ranked Player sound like a cool, nighttime warrior profession and why he can stay awake. The night watch scene with Megumin reveals Kazuma’s backstory. Kazuma had a childhood friend who promised to marry him. At some point he saw her riding on a delinquent senpai’s bike (basically he got NTR’d) and never went back to school. He was eventually forgotten at school, but became a famous online gamer. This is why he’s a coward around girls, because he doesn’t want to get hurt again, despite the things he says because he’s jaded deep down. Also, why he gets upset when he realized that Megumin passed out, when he started to feel something towards her (the LN illustration was basically her holding hands.) This leads into the Orc scene and this is a bit different, too. Kazuma’s searching for Orcs, trying to spare the girls from a ‘bad end’ with Orcs and thinking he’d be safe since he’s a guy. Evolution happened that many times that orcs are mainly women that drain all living males and that they gained traits from animal ear races. 10:14 - Her tattoo is on her behind and yes, as the movie implies, it’s a barcode. Yun Yun’s is on her inner thigh, next to her privates (info from the LN.) 11:32 - There’s more info from Kazuma’s perspective, where he noticed that the reinforcements weren’t coming to aid, they were being chased by an unseen force and running in fear. The Crimson Demon Defense Force then appear (because of their poses and Light of Saber attacks, they were nicknamed as the JoJo Brigade, in the community.) Yun Yun and other Crimson Demons’ poses are references, with some being Kamen Rider poses. The lady of the group is Soketto and she’s a fortune teller (I’d like to think that she’s the Avdol) and she has an attachment to Buzucoily (the ‘leader’) of this group. Important to note is that Crimson Demons besides Megumin and Yun Yun jump straight to learning Advanced Magic, skipping Basic and Intermediate levels. Crimson Demons also basically have a Race Trait where all of their spells are buffed, so they look cool and hit harder than other mages. 12:38 - No one else on this planet behave like Chuunibyous, so they are outcasts from society and think Kazuma is cool for knowing/performing village customs (and not making fun of them.) Unsure if you noticed, but the village is based on a rural Japanese village (yet, they don’t know what ‘Japan’ is.) 14:31 - He looks like Jotaro Kujo (the LN illustration made him look extra detailed, like a JoJo character.) 17:40 - This scene showcases Kazuma’s many flaws, like overthinking and doing things automatically. He’s a cowardly teen, who will only do guaranteed outcomes where he wins. 19:30 - They’re all mixing words into his name like before (Kasu-ma, Kuzu-ma, and Gesu-ma, which translates to Trash-zuma, Scum-zuma, and Lowlife-zuma.) The following scene is extended in the LN, where all the landmarks are expanded upon. There’s a statue that’s a petrified Griffon and Aqua tried to free it to see it, the ‘sword in the stone’ is just a sword that the blacksmith put into a stone, a ‘wishing fountain’ that the blacksmith loots and turns the items into new weapons, a hot spring/bath, and a ‘shrine’ housing a cat girl figurine (an isekai’d adventurer claimed that good luck comes to those who pray to it and to build a shrine for it.) 21:33 - ‘The Stardust Crusaders have arrived to stop DIO from tormenting Polnareff on stairs.’ Arue, Dodonko, and Funifura don’t show up until near the end of the book (Arue shows up during Sylvia’s rampage, making Kazuma feel guilty about the destruction of the town, but her name isn’t revealed, yet.) Dodonko and Funifura were also mentioned in the ending/previews of the next episodes of the anime, when Yun Yun wrote notes to them. 25:02 - It’s basically their Hamon from JoJo/Saber’s Excalibur and it’s the demons/undead’s weakness. Shortening this last half of the comment. Kazuma froze the window in a panic, before the scene starts. Megumin is the aggressive one, because she knows he’s a coward who just says stuff. The book foreshadowed the reveal with hints, so you can figure it out early (pupils in the eyes, rope bind, earring on a specific ear, and etc.) The three main girls are based on the ‘three female relationships for boys’ myth: Sister/Siblings, inner beauty, and outer beauty. Also, no, Sylvia says she didn’t do anything and Kazuma passed out after the reveal. Aqua steals a not gameboy in the factory. True Sylvia is based on a lamia and is immune to magic. The fight is different, where Sylvia is still pushed back and doesn’t use dispel (like JoJo vs Ultimate Kars.) Wiz and Vanir don’t arrive. Kazuma sees Soketto is cornered and sacrifices herself to save Buzucoily (it’s a ruse and she teleports away and Buzucoily acted to trick Sylvia.) Yun Yun doesn’t run away to stall and flees to an invisible Buzucoily and Soketto nearby and are teleported away. Yun Yun gets embarrassed during the aftermath and is praised with a nickname and invited to meals, much to her chagrin (she’s normal and doesn’t like posing/seen as weird.) Sylvia dies when shot and the rest of the fight is anime only (based on Final Fantasy bosses and yes, Komekko steals the kill and EXP, leaving Kazuma underleveled.) They turn her parts into high magic resistance gear and sell it to adventurers. They fix the town in around 3 days with magic and golems and the party stays in town for another day/night. Megumin and Kazuma sleep together again and talk about Valentines and Japan (and his younger brother.) Kazuma says Megumin shouldn’t give chocolate to a boy she doesn’t like, but she reveals that she likes Kazuma, so it’s fine. This leads to her serious request to become a serious mage. Arue is revealed and was writing the Sylvia events at home as a manuscript, which Kazuma rips apart. Dodonko and Funifura appear and are interested in a foreigner like Kazuma, which Megumin claims Kazuma as her man. Yun Yun and them run away in tears with her out of context description of their stay here. The 120 points scene happened here in a forest and Kazuma remembered the vision from Vanir and chooses the Megumin route over having a ‘useful mage.’ They go back home and it ends on a cliffhanger leading into book 6. Also, Aqua gets her not Gameboy stolen by Kazuma and Megumin and Kazuma have a mini quarrel trying to outpraise each other like a married couple over the book’s events. 51:00 - Kazuma just has to wait for Vanir to get the money, it’s confirmed on their contract. Konosuba is now ‘how does Megumin and Kazuma’s relationship progress’ and ‘how does Kazuma catch up in levels to kill the demon king.’ Sorry for paraphrasing the second half but it got too long, despite the importance and hope it’s still not too long and gives enough info about the changes/extra lore.
I wanna say a quick word about the upcoming Megumin spinoff/prequel (it's not a spoiler or anything like that) It's being done by a different group than the ones who've done Konosuba so far, so expect it to look different. The reason why it's a different group is because the normal crew is working on Season 3 rn Edit: It seems that the normal crew is working on both the spinoff and season 3, with the exception of the spinoff having a different director. Of course, a different director is still a large change, so still expect it to be different in some way, be it visuals, tone, etc.
It’s the same staff, just a different Studio name. Basically the same situation as the movie. Studio Drive is animating both Explosion Side Story and Season 3. The main difference would be the director, but otherwise, as evident by the trailers, it’ll have the same quality as the movie.

Konosuba is BY FAR my favourite series ever, the anime, books, music and everything to do with it is just so good. I have watched this movie probably 10 times by now, and the experience has never changed. This movie is the single greatest thing ever created, the combinations of everything that makes it Konosuba, as well as the music which is just amazing, makes it just so good no matter how many times I watch it. The final battle with Sylvia and the end when Megumin wants Kazuma to seal her explosion, those two scenes make me start crying a lot, especially the end with Kazuma and Megumin, not just a few tears, but full on crying. This is the best movie ever, and my mind will not be changed unless they make another Konosuba movie which is somehow better.

The only thing I wish they added was more of the Kazumin moments from the book but I can live without that since the rest of the movie is great. You're allowed to have your own opinion and I'm allowed to have mine. You think it's bad, I think it's amazing.
I was lucky enough to watch the movie in theaters and it was such a fun experience with everyone laughing at the chaos unfolding-to being in awe at the action sequences it was such a cool experience. 👍
I've always had Megumin as my favorite best girl, but this movie just completely solidify that choice for me. . . . I'd still take Sylvia as a 2nd choice tho lol
So, if you loved this, let me recommend two more anime by the creator of Konosuba. First, Kemono Michi. About a wrestler with a love for animals and a dream to open a pet shop, who gets summoned to a fantasy world. There, the princess asks him to destroy the demon beasts. His response? To suplex her. He then goes off to try and fulfil his dream of a pet shop The other is Combatants will be Dispatched. Agent Six of the evil Kisaragi Corporation, is teleported to a world of magic and sorcery to prepare it for conquest. There, he has to collect 'Evil Points' to gather resources and prepare a foothoold for their invasion. While at the same time, creating allies in the Kingdom of Grace and protecting it from the encroaching demon army. Both have very interesting characters, and Comatants Will Be Dispatched has several Konosuba references.

the crimson demons actually did sylvia dirty even with the maze killer joined in her. when she hasn't used the ancient dispel thing the crimson demons basically keep firing then teleporting away messing with her. two people even made a skit about pretending to be knocked down. its like this *knock down* (female crimson demon) " no! (male crimson demon)" "its okay I guess it is my time now" "stop no!" *female crimson demon teleported* *male crimson demon teleported* this is just simplified and paraphrase even sylvia was a little touch then the freaking female that was knock down or weaken teleported. then the male one just stop crying like nothing then escape as well. which basically pisses sylvia off.

Yeah Sylvia also didn't deserve to die, she was loyal, kind, and had hope. She protected her own armies, putting her body to block their strikes. The only sad thing, but still funny throughout it all.
I find it funny that the reactors always realize Megumin is a 13/14 year old child, but get so distracted over Yunyun and Arue's assets that they never get that those are also 13/14.

so on the letter "by the time you read this I have passed on" like it was said. it is common greeting in the crimson demons megumin and yunyun didn't know because they skipped and graduated early in class. also its hilarious that yunyun is the most normal in the crimson demons that's why she didn't have any friends back home and why she is shy because she is embarass.

My problem with this movie is that in most of the anime they keep the good jokes from the books, but the movie cuts most of the best jokes from the book it's based off of.

So yeah, this is around the time Megumin being the "main" love interest really takes hold. The Light Novel and Anime have many differences around a plot that is basically the same. One of those differences is that very clear idea that Megumin is the main love interest. The anime definitely made it seem a bit more like Kazuma was gonna lean more with Darkness but let's be real. Kazuma X Darkness would never be a healthy relationship lmao

I suggest reacting to The Eminence of Shadow. It kinna resemble with Konosuba because it is a parody of isekai. It also has a darker theme and the MC is even better than Kazuma
I'd prefer Kazuma over Cid though. Eminence in Shadow was definitely good, but Cid's personality is just that of an edgelord, which is something that have been done in demon lord borned as whatever job in new isekai world-trope animes before.
How is he resemble any isekai protagonist? He literally being both a chunnibyou op edgelord and a die hard NPC character. Kazuma to me is Chad but he's kinna normal to me.

Regarding anime recommendations after Konosuba: Kemono Michi and Combatants Will be Dispatched!/Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! are written by the same author, but all three have different kinds of humor and feel like unique experiences (to the point of having three different communities that usually don’t like all three and argue over Konosuba being better.) The author, like JoJo’s author, Araki, developed his style post Book 5 and is reflected in his other works as well, which are full of dark humor and risqué scenes like later Konosuba novels. Combatants is darker and more focused on the action and ecchi, while Kemono Michi is focused on the slice of life aspect and similar to fantasy series like Granblue Fantasy (two characters are based on Vira and Sturm from GBF.) Combatants was written before Konosuba, but was published afterwards as a LN series, while Kemono Michi is a manga and anime series only written after Konosuba. Combatants is more Sci-Fi and focuses on villain protagonists trying to take over a planet and Kemono Michi has the protagonist voiced by Diavolo’s VA from JoJo Part 5. Just to add: all three series are ecchi, comedy, action, and subversions of Isekai.
You know, sometimes i'm a bit confused about your idea of Megumin being 14 so she shouldn't be too much... Observed?... You know. Because if you think about it, last part of this video, you expect "jiggle physics" from the girls we saw from this movie in the Crimson village, but... They are basically Megumin's schoolfriends... So... They are well more busty, but still same age as Megumin normally ^^ I love this movie, can't wait for the new season :)

Now that you have finished seeing everything with Konosuba the Anime up to this point. You might want to react to the Manga as well as the Light Novels. Darkness would have her own story arc in Light Novel Vol 7 as well as Light Novel Vol 12
List of biggest annoyances/differences compared to the novel in the Konosuba movie. 1. Kazuma wouldn't rate Megumin's explosions so low like he did multiple times in the film. Kazuma if you recall, learned to appreciate them in season 1 and Megumin highly values Kazuma's ratings. If he gives her a high score, it makes her really happy. 2. The conversation that they have with Yunyun is supposed to happen right when they come back from the hot springs, and that's where season 2 should have ended. With Yunyun asking Kazuma to have her baby and the Axis cult realizing who Aqua is. So the conversation starts and ends in the mansion. 3. The movie skipped most of the adventure to the crimson demon village including meeting a sentient plant that kills adventurers similar in concept to a Venus fly trap. It kills them by making them feel sorry for it and staying with it forever till they die at her side. She looks like a cute girl. The party comes across it and are initially tricked by its charms. The plant manages to convince them that it's an innocent existence, so they decide to not kill it. They manage to tear themselves away, but Kazuma goes back because he gets worried about Yunyun coming across it due to her personality being more unacceptable to something saying it feels lonely. Upon coming across it, still hidden, he listens to the plant curse and complain that it wasn't able to trap Kazuma's party, very different from the persona that it showed to them. Proving that it's just a monster that wants to eat people. He confronts it and it tries to convince him with more material things now that the cat is out of the bag. Kazuma returns to the his party with a level up. 4. The movie skips the set up of the confrontation with the orcs. Initially Kazuma saw them from a distance and thought they were male. Judging by his knowledge of typical orc lore, he tells the girls he'll protect them no matter what happens knowing the kinds of things they're known to do in fiction. When he gets close, that's when the confrontation goes south. It goes similar to the movie after that. 5. When they get close to the crimson demon village, Megumin doesn't use explosion on the demons, and Kazuma isn't dumb enough to give their location away like that. Everyone is quite a bit dumber in the movie for some reason. The crimson demons show up and save them, and that goes similarly. Also, do note that nobody but Yunyun knows that Megumin does explosion. That's important for what comes later. 6. I only really realized on this second viewing, but I'm surprised that the crimson demon village has an alert that sounds exactly like the one in Axel. lol 7. Kazuma saying that those are "real" crimson demons is a bit strange considering that Megumin is was considered one of the top geniuses of the village, and her personality is pretty in line with a typical crimson demon. Yunyun is the one that has always been odd compared to everyone else, so she's the one that didn't quite fit in. But I guess he could have been talking about the variety of magic. 8. Movie skipped quite a bit of Kazumin scenes in this, so that's extremely disappointing since this is pretty much the starting off point for some wonderful things. 9. The movie skipped a lot of the introduction to characters and town during some outings, so Kazuma's impression at how impressive the crimson demon's application of OP magic to improve daily life was left out. 10. The designs of most of the crimson demons that didn't already have a design in the novels are pretty awful. It's like they missed the point of the crimson demons. They are all about being cool. But all of the anime original crimson demons just look... like that wasn't what they were going for. 11. The meeting with her old classmates went quite differently. Also, the design of the classmates is atrocious compared to the novels. Like.. god damn, I don't know what's wrong with the the designs in this movie. They all have bodies that belong to menopausal overweight women. They are the same age as Megumin and Yunyun. 12. Sylvia looks manlier in the anime, but in this case, I actually think that's a good thing. It fits her character much more. lol 13. Vanir and Wiz are in the town for no reason at all. I have no idea why they decided to add them to this. It makes no sense at all. 14. The reveal that the destroyer guy was a reincarnated person was supposed to be here, but the OVA spoils it. Not to mention, this is when aqua was supposed to reveal that the diary in the destroyer's main chamber was written in Japanese as well. Also, his OP ability is to make magic tools or something. Actually, if I remember correctly, the tool you see right in the beginning of the first season that scans Kazuma's stats and creates the adventurer's card was made by him too. 15. Despite how amazing it showed the crimson demons in the beginning when it comes to combat, when the fight with Sylvia starts it turns them utterly useless by making it so they can't use spells. In the novel, it was the opposite. They distracted Sylvia most of the time while the party was searching for the magic rail gun. The crimson demons actually have some really clever and effective ways to fight and even with Sylvia being as powerful as she is, she has an extremely difficult time dealing with the crimson demons as they attack her with magic, and teleport away. Alternating so there's always someone, somewhere attacking her while the others recharge. I HATE that they made the crimson demons useless during the fight. 16. This is one of the things that bugs me the most. Literally everything after the railgun is fired is basically non-canon and anime original. And the worst part is that undermines and changes the meaning of many important things that will come later, and are shown later. After Kommeko fires the gun, that's where the fight was supposed to end. Everything else is nonsensical and additional. It actually makes so little sense, it hurts. Especially since Konosuba is so good at having events make sense. There's no reason for Verdia, Hans, Vanir, or Wiz to be there. God, extending that fight is so dumb. Where the heck did they even come from? How? If Wiz decided to come, why did Vanir? And vice versa. Why would they even leave the shop? Not to mention, The thing with Kazuma enchanting Sylvia is also so freaking dumb. Why would Sylvia fall in love because of the things Kazuma says? It makes Sylvia seem incredibly dumb, and easily swayed. She's a demon king general for Christ's sake. How is Kazuma even able say the things he says? He's not even a smooth guy whatsoever. None of this makes sense at all. It also ruins the running gag in the series where Darkness is the most useless in the group with the pointless Vanir taking control of her body. Darkness isn't really supposed to do anything. Like usual. Also, like usual, the series adds yet another non-canon death. Since the fight originally ends with Komekko killing Sylvia, he doesn't die in this battle. 17. Having Megumin actually set off an explosion is one of the dumbest additions to the movie possible because it undermines the character growth and the advancement of the relationship between Kazuma and Megumin. After Komekko kills Sylvia with Megumin's explosion being useless, she starts to question whether it's even worth to have explosion Magic. Especially when the other crimson demons find out that she knows explosion. She goes from being the prided genius of the crimson demons to a disappointment. What makes it worse for her is that While that happened to her, the opposite happens to Yunyun. She gets famous among the other crimson demons for being able to make such a great entrance during the battle. Megumin's self esteem is at an all time low, and she resolves herself to give up her way of life because of it. In the movie, her setting off the biggest explosion in the series so far completely invalidates that decision and makes it seem like it's almost like a whim. Why would she feel useless when her explosion ended up being the thing that saved the day? It doesn't make any sense. It's the reason that her decision to give Kazuma the card so he could make the option for her is such an important and meaningful thing in the novels. Her feeling of uselessness and her increasing desire to help Kazuma influences this extremely. She's literally entrusting the rest of her life to him. When he decides to make her explosion stronger, and she unleashes it, he gives it a high score. Which like I mentioned in the beginning of this list, Megumin values incredibly highly. He makes her so incredibly happy right there, that Megumin is pretty much officially smitten. The movie subtly hints it with the explosion being in a heart shape, but it chooses all the wrong times to be subtle, and doing the opposite when it shouldn't. Ruins one of the best and most emotional moments in the series.

Fun fact about this movie since I haven't seen anyone say it in the comments yet, the entire part of the movie after Sylvia gets shot by the Railgun (TBD) and before it shows Crewzuma returning to Axel is completely original to the movie
And it's an absolutely perfect addition, everything is completely in character, it all makes perfect sense, the conflict is resolved through Kazuma's popular phase, it's cool and funny asf

I wouldn´t say everything about the added part is perfect or makes sense. Everybody acts in character, yes. It looked cool, sure. But it really made no sense how Sylvia came back to life with the dead generals powers (hell, going by one of the bonus stories from the later LNs, the slime isn´t even actually dead). Honestly something like "her troops who worshiped her allowed themselfs to be absorbed to save her" would have made much more sense then "stolen powers from the afterlife".

Extra (and last, for now) info and lore/cut content from the movie/Book 5 (warning: extra long comment because of how much is in Book 5/the movie, but tried not to repeat stuff from the previous reaction.)
The beginning is also the only time Vanir appears in the LN. He also gives Kazuma a vision, which warns him that a party member’s fate will change depending on his words, so basically a branching path/character route (the LN makes who’s the main love interest known, so if you don’t want to know, skip the section where I start talking about the scene of the aftermath of Sylvia’s fate.) As a noticeable change, I have to mention that Kazuma’s deal is confirmed in the LN and that all he has to do is wait a bit to give him the massive lump sum, so debt is now a myth when he gets the money. 6:51 - Wiz does not teleport Kazuma’s Party randomly in the LN. Instead, they are teleported to near Alcanretia (the hot springs town) to be closer to the village and intercept Yun Yun. They have a short encounter with a monster known as the Tranquility Girl, a mimic-type plant monster girl that looks like an injured little girl and she talks all cutesy to guilt you into staying by her side forever. You become her fertilizer this way and is (sadly) a way many elderly choose to go out, but in peace. As Kazuma’s Party (regretfully) leave her, Kazuma goes back to promise the monster to not kill/trick Yun Yun when she passes by, seeing as the monster never killed/tricked before.
Funnily enough, there’s a famous meme in the fan translation (Kaz from MGSV saying about being played like a fiddle) and Kazuma kills the monster offscreen and gains a lot of experience, which the girls misinterpreted as Kazuma being a heartless psychopath/getting back at Aqua’s taunt. They have a camping scene where Kazuma keeps watch with Megumin. Earlier, Kazuma talks about his life in Japan, which makes a Ranked Player sound like a cool, nighttime warrior profession and why he can stay awake. The night watch scene with Megumin reveals Kazuma’s backstory. Kazuma had a childhood friend who promised to marry him. At some point he saw her riding on a delinquent senpai’s bike (basically he got NTR’d) and never went back to school. He was eventually forgotten at school, but became a famous online gamer. This is why he’s a coward around girls, because he doesn’t want to get hurt again, despite the things he says because he’s jaded deep down.
Also, why he gets upset when he realized that Megumin passed out, when he started to feel something towards her (the LN illustration was basically her holding hands.) This leads into the Orc scene and this is a bit different, too. Kazuma’s searching for Orcs, trying to spare the girls from a ‘bad end’ with Orcs and thinking he’d be safe since he’s a guy. Evolution happened that many times that orcs are mainly women that drain all living males and that they gained traits from animal ear races. 10:14 - Her tattoo is on her behind and yes, as the movie implies, it’s a barcode. Yun Yun’s is on her inner thigh, next to her privates (info from the LN.) 11:32 - There’s more info from Kazuma’s perspective, where he noticed that the reinforcements weren’t coming to aid, they were being chased by an unseen force and running in fear. The Crimson Demon Defense Force then appear (because of their poses and Light of Saber attacks, they were nicknamed as the JoJo Brigade, in the community.)
Yun Yun and other Crimson Demons’ poses are references, with some being Kamen Rider poses. The lady of the group is Soketto and she’s a fortune teller (I’d like to think that she’s the Avdol) and she has an attachment to Buzucoily (the ‘leader’) of this group. Important to note is that Crimson Demons besides Megumin and Yun Yun jump straight to learning Advanced Magic, skipping Basic and Intermediate levels. Crimson Demons also basically have a Race Trait where all of their spells are buffed, so they look cool and hit harder than other mages. 12:38 - No one else on this planet behave like Chuunibyous, so they are outcasts from society and think Kazuma is cool for knowing/performing village customs (and not making fun of them.) Unsure if you noticed, but the village is based on a rural Japanese village (yet, they don’t know what ‘Japan’ is.) 14:31 - He looks like Jotaro Kujo (the LN illustration made him look extra detailed, like a JoJo character.) 17:40 - This scene showcases Kazuma’s many flaws, like overthinking and doing things automatically.
He’s a cowardly teen, who will only do guaranteed outcomes where he wins. 19:30 - They’re all mixing words into his name like before (Kasu-ma, Kuzu-ma, and Gesu-ma, which translates to Trash-zuma, Scum-zuma, and Lowlife-zuma.) The following scene is extended in the LN, where all the landmarks are expanded upon. There’s a statue that’s a petrified Griffon and Aqua tried to free it to see it, the ‘sword in the stone’ is just a sword that the blacksmith put into a stone, a ‘wishing fountain’ that the blacksmith loots and turns the items into new weapons, a hot spring/bath, and a ‘shrine’ housing a cat girl figurine (an isekai’d adventurer claimed that good luck comes to those who pray to it and to build a shrine for it.) 21:33 - ‘The Stardust Crusaders have arrived to stop DIO from tormenting Polnareff on stairs.’ Arue, Dodonko, and Funifura don’t show up until near the end of the book (Arue shows up during Sylvia’s rampage, making Kazuma feel guilty about the destruction of the town, but her name isn’t revealed, yet.) Dodonko and Funifura were also mentioned in the ending/previews of the next episodes of the anime, when Yun Yun wrote notes to them. 25:02 - It’s basically their Hamon from JoJo/Saber’s Excalibur and it’s the demons/undead’s weakness.
Shortening this last half of the comment. Kazuma froze the window in a panic, before the scene starts. Megumin is the aggressive one, because she knows he’s a coward who just says stuff. The book foreshadowed the reveal with hints, so you can figure it out early (pupils in the eyes, rope bind, earring on a specific ear, and etc.) The three main girls are based on the ‘three female relationships for boys’ myth: Sister/Siblings, inner beauty, and outer beauty. Also, no, Sylvia says she didn’t do anything and Kazuma passed out after the reveal. Aqua steals a not gameboy in the factory. True Sylvia is based on a lamia and is immune to magic.
The fight is different, where Sylvia is still pushed back and doesn’t use dispel (like JoJo vs Ultimate Kars.) Wiz and Vanir don’t arrive. Kazuma sees Soketto is cornered and sacrifices herself to save Buzucoily (it’s a ruse and she teleports away and Buzucoily acted to trick Sylvia.) Yun Yun doesn’t run away to stall and flees to an invisible Buzucoily and Soketto nearby and are teleported away. Yun Yun gets embarrassed during the aftermath and is praised with a nickname and invited to meals, much to her chagrin (she’s normal and doesn’t like posing/seen as weird.) Sylvia dies when shot and the rest of the fight is anime only (based on Final Fantasy bosses and yes, Komekko steals the kill and EXP, leaving Kazuma underleveled.) They turn her parts into high magic resistance gear and sell it to adventurers. They fix the town in around 3 days with magic and golems and the party stays in town for another day/night.
Megumin and Kazuma sleep together again and talk about Valentines and Japan (and his younger brother.) Kazuma says Megumin shouldn’t give chocolate to a boy she doesn’t like, but she reveals that she likes Kazuma, so it’s fine. This leads to her serious request to become a serious mage. Arue is revealed and was writing the Sylvia events at home as a manuscript, which Kazuma rips apart. Dodonko and Funifura appear and are interested in a foreigner like Kazuma, which Megumin claims Kazuma as her man. Yun Yun and them run away in tears with her out of context description of their stay here. The 120 points scene happened here in a forest and Kazuma remembered the vision from Vanir and chooses the Megumin route over having a ‘useful mage.’ They go back home and it ends on a cliffhanger leading into book 6.
Also, Aqua gets her not Gameboy stolen by Kazuma and Megumin and Kazuma have a mini quarrel trying to outpraise each other like a married couple over the book’s events. 51:00 - Kazuma just has to wait for Vanir to get the money, it’s confirmed on their contract. Konosuba is now ‘how does Megumin and Kazuma’s relationship progress’ and ‘how does Kazuma catch up in levels to kill the demon king.’ Sorry for paraphrasing the second half but it got too long, despite the importance and hope it’s still not too long and gives enough info about the changes/extra lore.

It's being done by a different group than the ones who've done Konosuba so far, so expect it to look different. The reason why it's a different group is because the normal crew is working on Season 3 rn
Edit: It seems that the normal crew is working on both the spinoff and season 3, with the exception of the spinoff having a different director. Of course, a different director is still a large change, so still expect it to be different in some way, be it visuals, tone, etc.
It’s the same staff, just a different Studio name. Basically the same situation as the movie. Studio Drive is animating both Explosion Side Story and Season 3. The main difference would be the director, but otherwise, as evident by the trailers, it’ll have the same quality as the movie.

Konosuba is BY FAR my favourite series ever, the anime, books, music and everything to do with it is just so good. I have watched this movie probably 10 times by now, and the experience has never changed. This movie is the single greatest thing ever created, the combinations of everything that makes it Konosuba, as well as the music which is just amazing, makes it just so good no matter how many times I watch it. The final battle with Sylvia and the end when Megumin wants Kazuma to seal her explosion, those two scenes make me start crying a lot, especially the end with Kazuma and Megumin, not just a few tears, but full on crying.
This is the best movie ever, and my mind will not be changed unless they make another Konosuba movie which is somehow better.
Considering how much this movie spits on the novels.. I don't know how you can think this movie is that great.

About a wrestler with a love for animals and a dream to open a pet shop, who gets summoned to a fantasy world. There, the princess asks him to destroy the demon beasts. His response? To suplex her. He then goes off to try and fulfil his dream of a pet shop
The other is Combatants will be Dispatched. Agent Six of the evil Kisaragi Corporation, is teleported to a world of magic and sorcery to prepare it for conquest. There, he has to collect 'Evil Points' to gather resources and prepare a foothoold for their invasion. While at the same time, creating allies in the Kingdom of Grace and protecting it from the encroaching demon army.
Both have very interesting characters, and Comatants Will Be Dispatched has several Konosuba references.

So yeah, this is around the time Megumin being the "main" love interest really takes hold. The Light Novel and Anime have many differences around a plot that is basically the same. One of those differences is that very clear idea that Megumin is the main love interest. The anime definitely made it seem a bit more like Kazuma was gonna lean more with Darkness but let's be real. I suggest reacting to The Eminence of Shadow. It kinna resemble with Konosuba because it is a parody of isekai. It also has a darker theme and the MC is even better than Kazuma
I'd prefer Kazuma over Cid though. Eminence in Shadow was definitely good, but Cid's personality is just that of an edgelord, which is something that have been done in demon lord borned as whatever job in new isekai world-trope animes before.
How is he resemble any isekai protagonist? He literally being both a chunnibyou op edgelord and a die hard NPC character. Kazuma to me is Chad but he's kinna normal to me.

I’d spoiler this, since they haven’t gotten to this part yet.
Regarding anime recommendations after Konosuba: Kemono Michi and Combatants Will be Dispatched!/Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! are written by the same author, but all three have different kinds of humor and feel like unique experiences (to the point of having three different communities that usually don’t like all three and argue over Konosuba being better.) The author, like JoJo’s author, Araki, developed his style post Book 5 and is reflected in his other works as well, which are full of dark humor and risqué scenes like later Konosuba novels. Combatants is darker and more focused on the action and ecchi, while Kemono Michi is focused on the slice of life aspect and similar to fantasy series like Granblue Fantasy (two characters are based on Vira and Sturm from GBF.) Combatants was written before Konosuba, but was published afterwards as a LN series, while Kemono Michi is a manga and anime series only written after Konosuba. Combatants is more Sci-Fi and focuses on villain protagonists trying to take over a planet and Kemono Michi has the protagonist voiced by Diavolo’s VA from JoJo Part 5. Just to add: all three series are ecchi, comedy, action, and subversions of Isekai.
You know, sometimes i'm a bit confused about your idea of Megumin being 14 so she shouldn't be too much... Observed?... You know.
Because if you think about it, last part of this video, you expect "jiggle physics" from the girls we saw from this movie in the Crimson village, but... They are basically Megumin's schoolfriends... So... They are well more busty, but still same age as Megumin normally ^^

Hope y'all react to Isekai Quartet's Movie, but that'll take a quite times to reach that spot.
List of biggest annoyances/differences compared to the novel in the Konosuba movie.
1. Kazuma wouldn't rate Megumin's explosions so low like he did multiple times in the film. Kazuma if you recall, learned to appreciate them in season 1 and Megumin highly values Kazuma's ratings. If he gives her a high score, it makes her really happy.
2. The conversation that they have with Yunyun is supposed to happen right when they come back from the hot springs, and that's where season 2 should have ended. With Yunyun asking Kazuma to have her baby and the Axis cult realizing who Aqua is. So the conversation starts and ends in the mansion.
3. The movie skipped most of the adventure to the crimson demon village including meeting a sentient plant that kills adventurers similar in concept to a Venus fly trap. It kills them by making them feel sorry for it and staying with it forever till they die at her side. She looks like a cute girl. The party comes across it and are initially tricked by its charms. The plant manages to convince them that it's an innocent existence, so they decide to not kill it. They manage to tear themselves away, but Kazuma goes back because he gets worried about Yunyun coming across it due to her personality being more unacceptable to something saying it feels lonely. Upon coming across it, still hidden, he listens to the plant curse and complain that it wasn't able to trap Kazuma's party, very different from the persona that it showed to them. Proving that it's just a monster that wants to eat people. He confronts it and it tries to convince him with more material things now that the cat is out of the bag. Kazuma returns to the his party with a level up.
4. The movie skips the set up of the confrontation with the orcs. Initially Kazuma saw them from a distance and thought they were male. Judging by his knowledge of typical orc lore, he tells the girls he'll protect them no matter what happens knowing the kinds of things they're known to do in fiction. When he gets close, that's when the confrontation goes south. It goes similar to the movie after that.
5. When they get close to the crimson demon village, Megumin doesn't use explosion on the demons, and Kazuma isn't dumb enough to give their location away like that. Everyone is quite a bit dumber in the movie for some reason. The crimson demons show up and save them, and that goes similarly. Also, do note that nobody but Yunyun knows that Megumin does explosion. That's important for what comes later.
6. I only really realized on this second viewing, but I'm surprised that the crimson demon village has an alert that sounds exactly like the one in Axel. lol
7. Kazuma saying that those are "real" crimson demons is a bit strange considering that Megumin is was considered one of the top geniuses of the village, and her personality is pretty in line with a typical crimson demon. Yunyun is the one that has always been odd compared to everyone else, so she's the one that didn't quite fit in. But I guess he could have been talking about the variety of magic.
8. Movie skipped quite a bit of Kazumin scenes in this, so that's extremely disappointing since this is pretty much the starting off point for some wonderful things.
9. The movie skipped a lot of the introduction to characters and town during some outings, so Kazuma's impression at how impressive the crimson demon's application of OP magic to improve daily life was left out.
10. The designs of most of the crimson demons that didn't already have a design in the novels are pretty awful. It's like they missed the point of the crimson demons. They are all about being cool. But all of the anime original crimson demons just look... like that wasn't what they were going for.
11. The meeting with her old classmates went quite differently. Also, the design of the classmates is atrocious compared to the novels. Like.. god damn, I don't know what's wrong with the the designs in this movie. They all have bodies that belong to menopausal overweight women. They are the same age as Megumin and Yunyun.
12. Sylvia looks manlier in the anime, but in this case, I actually think that's a good thing. It fits her character much more. lol
13. Vanir and Wiz are in the town for no reason at all. I have no idea why they decided to add them to this. It makes no sense at all.
14. The reveal that the destroyer guy was a reincarnated person was supposed to be here, but the OVA spoils it. Not to mention, this is when aqua was supposed to reveal that the diary in the destroyer's main chamber was written in Japanese as well. Also, his OP ability is to make magic tools or something. Actually, if I remember correctly, the tool you see right in the beginning of the first season that scans Kazuma's stats and creates the adventurer's card was made by him too.
15. Despite how amazing it showed the crimson demons in the beginning when it comes to combat, when the fight with Sylvia starts it turns them utterly useless by making it so they can't use spells. In the novel, it was the opposite. They distracted Sylvia most of the time while the party was searching for the magic rail gun. The crimson demons actually have some really clever and effective ways to fight and even with Sylvia being as powerful as she is, she has an extremely difficult time dealing with the crimson demons as they attack her with magic, and teleport away. Alternating so there's always someone, somewhere attacking her while the others recharge. I HATE that they made the crimson demons useless during the fight.
16. This is one of the things that bugs me the most. Literally everything after the railgun is fired is basically non-canon and anime original. And the worst part is that undermines and changes the meaning of many important things that will come later, and are shown later. After Kommeko fires the gun, that's where the fight was supposed to end. Everything else is nonsensical and additional. It actually makes so little sense, it hurts. Especially since Konosuba is so good at having events make sense.
There's no reason for Verdia, Hans, Vanir, or Wiz to be there. God, extending that fight is so dumb. Where the heck did they even come from? How? If Wiz decided to come, why did Vanir? And vice versa. Why would they even leave the shop? Not to mention, The thing with Kazuma enchanting Sylvia is also so freaking dumb. Why would Sylvia fall in love because of the things Kazuma says? It makes Sylvia seem incredibly dumb, and easily swayed. She's a demon king general for Christ's sake. How is Kazuma even able say the things he says? He's not even a smooth guy whatsoever. None of this makes sense at all. It also ruins the running gag in the series where Darkness is the most useless in the group with the pointless Vanir taking control of her body. Darkness isn't really supposed to do anything. Like usual.
Also, like usual, the series adds yet another non-canon death. Since the fight originally ends with Komekko killing Sylvia, he doesn't die in this battle.
17. Having Megumin actually set off an explosion is one of the dumbest additions to the movie possible because it undermines the character growth and the advancement of the relationship between Kazuma and Megumin. After Komekko kills Sylvia with Megumin's explosion being useless, she starts to question whether it's even worth to have explosion Magic. Especially when the other crimson demons find out that she knows explosion. She goes from being the prided genius of the crimson demons to a disappointment. What makes it worse for her is that While that happened to her, the opposite happens to Yunyun. She gets famous among the other crimson demons for being able to make such a great entrance during the battle.
Megumin's self esteem is at an all time low, and she resolves herself to give up her way of life because of it. In the movie, her setting off the biggest explosion in the series so far completely invalidates that decision and makes it seem like it's almost like a whim. Why would she feel useless when her explosion ended up being the thing that saved the day? It doesn't make any sense.
It's the reason that her decision to give Kazuma the card so he could make the option for her is such an important and meaningful thing in the novels. Her feeling of uselessness and her increasing desire to help Kazuma influences this extremely. She's literally entrusting the rest of her life to him. When he decides to make her explosion stronger, and she unleashes it, he gives it a high score. Which like I mentioned in the beginning of this list, Megumin values incredibly highly. He makes her so incredibly happy right there, that Megumin is pretty much officially smitten. The movie subtly hints it with the explosion being in a heart shape, but it chooses all the wrong times to be subtle, and doing the opposite when it shouldn't. Ruins one of the best and most emotional moments in the series.
